Beautiful. It looks very similar to bolero to some people. I had to do a double take and look more carefully, but the foot work is found ballroom rumba not bolero. Also there is more hip movement then bolero.
This is a rumba dance but this one is not passionate like the one we ussually saw...if you try to take a look the movement and language of the dance it is really rumba...basic one that later then if you come into very mood in dancing passionately, you will create new moves that will wow every one...thanks!!!
among all spanish dances such as tengo, salsa, samba, the rumba is my all time favorite its slow and passionate, then of course i love the tengo which is like more intense.
Quand j'avais 20 ans, j'ai pris des cours de dance. Cha Cha Cha, Slow, Rumba.... J'adore tout ça. Je garde toujours mes chaussures de dance. J'ai maintenant 62 ans.
The name of the song is "Cuando Vuelva a Tu Lado" by Mexican-American composer María Grever. What I would like to know is whose rendition is this. This is the perfect tempo for dancing Rumba. If anyone knows who recorded it, please post that information. Many thanks in advance!
You're right. Karen Hardy was Bryan's previous partner. His current partner is Carmen Vincelj. However, in this particular video, his partner is Karen Hardy.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This is not a rumba but a bolero. Get your act together. I have no idea why ballroom dancers call this rumba, when it is not. There only two rumbas in the musical world, and that is Cuban rumba and Rumba Catalana. That is it.
It is not a rumba you're right. The bit of the song is perfect for dancing rhumba in ballroom competitions. I used to get mad like you, but I started to take some dance classes and one of the thing we were told was to count according to the bit of the song, so I tried and I realized that songs have bit similar not matter the gender.
What i don't understand is whay they don't call this a bolero when it is a bolero. Now what do you guys call a bolero in ballroom? Because it is obvious that there is no "clave" in this bolero that you guys call rumba, although your explanation it's so much better than people just giving you the thumbs down.
The Watson today is completely from this old clip that we see here. He learned to be more Macho, to be able to do staccato and somehow to be able to do OFF-BEAT! Ever since he teamed up with Carman, the feminine quality of his movement seemed disappeared all together! Isn't it amazing?!---dancewu(dot)net
now is this bryan carmen (much younger?) but still generally regarded as one of the best latin dancers in the world ? If so, I don't follow all these comments about "it's crap" or "i can dance better" etc. Do you think he's just duped people into thinking he's a fantastic dancer ? yes, no doubt that's it, he's simply fooled hundreds of judges over the past decade ... sorry for being sarcastic, but some of these comments about the quality of his dancing are simply arrogant and ridiculous.
goddamn it...i think if i try hard enough i can dance better than that...i never liked bryan watson very much...but in this video he's too lazy...he's dancing like a beginner
this video was made back in the late 90s or early 2000s-it was a different style of rumba. Also, dance is subject to different interpretations. Bryan may have interpreted this song to have slower, more graceful movements rather than the somewhat staccato-like movements popular today.
I agree with you. Looking and Karen and Bryan I can see a difference here. Look at Bryan's feet compared to Karens. Karen is using her ancles and feet beautifully and you can see the connection with the foor and foot pressure and soft foot action. On the other hand, Bryan seems to actually take his feet off the ground rather than keeping it connected to the floor. To me, he doesn't really look like he's using his feet the best here...
Hmmm.. When you do a spiral, you hesitate ever so slightly when you "spin". this is very standard rumba. it is not a function of talent. it is just simple rumba technique. it has nothing to do with choreography or talent.
The song is actually "What a difference a day makes", recorded by Dinah Washington in 1959 and written by an American non-Latino named Stanley Adams. Sorry to have to disappoint all you Hispanics.
The song is actually "Cuando vuelva a tu lado" lyrics and music written by Maria Joaquina De La Portilla Torres, a Mexican lady who lived from 1894 to 1951 aka Maria Grever, who died nine years before an unamerican (because he was not from any american indian tribe), named Stanley Adams, wrote lyrics in english for Mrs. Dinah Washington (another unamerican) to sing. Sorry to have to educate all you europeans.
María Grever, wrote the song. In fact, she was already dead when Diva Washington recorded the song in '59. The remarkable Stanley Adams penned the English lyrics, but Maestra Grever composed the tune and the original lyrics in Spanish. Madam Grever and Mr. Adams receive credit depending on which set of lyrics you search on. A Google search will substantiate all of this.
And you probably would like to disappoint us by telling us that the song "Besame Mucho" was written by Paul McCartney, wouldn't you? In fact that song was also written by another Mexican woman Consuelo Velázquez. Check your facts before you express yourself.
You should remember, since you were also with him that afternoon, secured by your restraints and accompanied by security personnel from your institution.
You wish! Unfortunately for you, I don't do boys only girls. Sorry!
I understood why you were awake last night. It was daytime for you! Your time zone is "No UTC/GMT offset". Therefore, you're probably asleep right now. I could call you all kinds of names, and you would not be able to defend yourself right now!! But I wouldn't do that. I only would call you names to your face! ;-)
Yeah, it's coming along. It's getting stronger by the minute. Would you like to feel it? On second thought, no. I'm not sure that I want you touching me. You seem to be overly preoccupied with homosexual themes. Is that some sort of projection? Was there anything in your childhood that might shed light on your preoccupations?
Other people have 'second thoughts' but I see you have only one. To be honest, I'm surprised you have that many. You're clearly a modest man with an awful lot to be modest about.
Do you happen to know who recorded this particular rendition of "Cuando Vuelva a Tu Lado". Not knowing who recorded it makes it very hard to find it online.
