Capitalism works well in a free market environment where monopolies cannot be maintained. Monopolies squelch competition. Federal laws & their enforcement against monopolistic practices are the only means to resist the immense power of corporate monopolies. @CntthnkO15 A confederation of states with a central authority that has specific delegated powers is the best system when it isn't broken and tyrannical due our complacency and a lack of responsibility. When we are educated (not brainwashed like today),are proud and keep well informed we keep the Government in check through our states and it works vice versa with the people having the final say.
The people are the 4th check that makes that broaden the lines between the 3 branches and gives us true separation. Congress is the ultimate power in our Government NOT the Executive branch when the people are really in charge and back it up. When we give up our authority and means to enforce our own freedom (gun control) we give the Government the final say and make ourselves slaves. This is why in the South and West traditionally people own more guns, we understand thatforce maintains freedom.

@emilyrl No I think that his plan would go achievable in the long term but if it was to be done in a short time frame there would be a tremendous vacuum that would spiral out of control and this would be very harmful to the west. I do however believe in what Dr Paul aspires, I find him very refreshing and wish him well.

While R.P may not really believe in sustainable development, the most interesting aspect of a free market energy & agriculture policy, is that alternate and / or renewable energy as well as organic farming maybe finally have a shot to crack the mainstream. Subsidies to oil and big Agrobiz usually far outmatch the subsidies to any renewable energy companies, and smaller farmers, a free market means sustainable alternatives can take it upon themselves to implicate themselves further into america

Capitalism works well in a free market environment where monopolies cannot be maintained. Monopolies squelch competition. Federal laws & their enforcement against monopolistic practices are the only means to resist the immense power of corporate monopolies. If you are a DEMOCRAT who wants to vote for RON PAUL in the primary, you need to switch to REPUBLICAN very soon before your VOTE IS DISQUALIFIED. People think everything would fall apart without an enormous centralized government but it's not true. The STATES would have the right to make their own laws, therefore not clogging up the system. He'll give us more freedom than some can handle, but that's where you have to be responsible for your own actions. Some don't like that.

Sure some tweaks for the modern age, but they work better then the corrupt bullshit that is now. How does that justify him not presidential material in any way? I don't see the correlation. @CntthnkO15 A confederation of states with a central authority that has specific delegated powers is the best system when it isn't broken and tyrannical due our complacency and a lack of responsibility. When we are educated (not brainwashed like today),are proud and keep well informed we keep the Government in check through our states and it works vice versa with the people having the final say.

The people are the 4th check that makes that broaden the lines between the 3 branches and gives us true separation. Congress is the ultimate power in our Government NOT the Executive branch when the people are really in charge and back it up. When we give up our authority and means to enforce our own freedom (gun control) we give the Government the final say and make ourselves slaves. This is why in the South and West traditionally people own more guns, we understand thatforce maintains freedom.

The problem in this day and age is that people no longer understand what freedom is and think junk like Gun Free Zones actually increase our freedom when it does the opposite. If there had been an armed person at Columbine those children would have had a chance at keeping their lives. We reduce ourselves to serfs when we give up our protection and act like balless cowards. Why do we need BOTH a federal and a state government. We need to reduce federal as it is redundant and too monopolistic, authoritarian. It has a bad track record. Empower the people and then empower the states...if something is left over, perhaps a federal can do something.

@Lengo67 Who writes the regulation? Big corporations and banks, that's who. Who wrote the Federal Reserve act? The biggest banking interests in the country at the time (it was sold as "reform"). This isn't capitalism it's corporatism (or proto-facism). Regulation is used primarily for interests at the top to eliminate competition at the bottom. Remember what John D. Rockefeller said: "Competition is a sin." You're the fool if you really believe regulation does any good for you.

The Corporations want deregulation. They want to govern. They tell you that free enterprise provides mechanics to govern itself. This is false! @Lengo67 True free enterprise has never really been tried. If the market was allowed to regulate itself, especially if it was allowed to set interest rates instead of a central bank, you wouldn't get the boom-bust cycle. Remember, as a capitalist, the thing I'm most afraid of is LOSS. The combine of big business with govt creates institutions that take out the loss part of the equation and put it on the backs of the taxpayer (moral hazard). This is precisely what Ron Paul is against.

People educate themselves and make informed decisions. Those idiots that make stupid decisions deserve to lose their money when investing. There are psychopaths in corporate America, and to let them decide what is right and wrong would be disastrous. They sell you junk food, no? They sell you overpriced and abusively priced medical care, no? And the corporations graduate students from universities (these are corporations) with $30,000+ in debt, and this is just the same as indentureship. Free market? Nothing is free!

Regulations take your freedom to choose away. They claim to keep you safe. Apparently you enjoy living in your cage rather than being on the front lines in the war of life. Nanny states are not freer they are safer . . . for some. Regulations are a clear cut sign of a tyrannical state.

If Ron Paul is elected, he cannot get it done. Congress will stand in his way. Corporate America and fundamentalist Christians will stand in his way. Nobody will cooperate with him! I agree with him on many things, but he is a poor candidate. Gov't spends more on both of these than any other country and per capita we have the worst results.... so again, why would you call for more of what hasn't worked???.... Private and Charitable organizations have always outperformed gov't and have been more accountable. No they are not perfect yet the facts show they create much better results. If you are a DEMOCRAT who wants to vote for RON PAUL in the primary, you need to switch to REPUBLICAN very soon before your VOTE IS DISQUALIFIED. Check your STATE LAWS regarding changing parties and make sure you do it in enough time before the PRIMARY. If your state has "OPEN" primaries then you don't need to but you should MAKE SURE you find out. Find out where to go to vote and when. Do YOUR part and Ron will do HIS.
