The camera was mounted on top of a piece of plastic waste pipe attached to a glass-lifting sucker (they're cheap on ebay:-) which held it to the aft deck. The system lacks rigidity, which can make the picture (and the boat) look more wobbly than it really is. On the other hand, having the camera high enough to see over my shoulder gives a much better perspective than having it mounted closer to the boat, and avoids some of the disorientation you get from a helmet-cam looking from side to side.
It does get nasty off the North and South Stack on the ebb ... Tried to round it twice last year in a 23 foot sailing boat only to return to Holyhead. Third time we tried we made it and headed down for Aberystwyth. I wasn't sorry to see Anglesey steadily getting smaller as we rounded the Lleyn peninsula.
