Hello, thanks for making this video. I am an aspiring graphic designer about to go to college. I haven't signed up for the classes however and I was wondering what courses you would recommend except the obvious (graphic design and typography). Should I take technical classes like web development and computer programming? What about photography? I have a bit of experience already by taking on various projects to build a portfolio and I want to do whatever it takes to be good at what I do.
@MajorBaws I know me too......I'm still waiting myself!! LOL I have plans on creating tons of these because I've learned so much about understanding layouts on my own than I had throughout all of College!! Just trying to spread what I know, and give other artists ideas so they can make some money. Thanks for checking us out. Please subscribe to the channel :)
@graphicdesigner , You shouldnt be arguing with that guy but laughing , youve made it in the graphic design industry and quite talented ware as if excitationz had made it he wouldnt be looking for tutorials would he lol
@michaell33cg This is the Internet, people hide behind their computers and say whatever they want. It's just plain old negativity and I'm not about that. I show what I know...that's it. I'm still quite interested in getting that link from him/her!! Thanks for tuning in...Please subscribe!!
@seaton331 That's really great to hear. Thanks for letting me know. Logo design is fun and challenging at the same time. Stay tuned for a lot more videos on this subject. Good luck in your future desiging, if that's what your doing. :)
I think the word 'professional' is thrown around a bit too often... a simple, if not typical concept for a fitness studio logo. Logomark is a bit confusing, wheelchair comes to mind.
Typography is weak, basically zero refinement of character spacing. Bevelled borders on business cards? how can you guarantee bleeds and border width will be consistent from card to card once printed and cut?
Not to be overly misogynistic, but I would place a bet of $100 that this is a female designer...
@excitationz I bet $200 you have 0 experience in the creative field.Professional is something that will stand out and catch wind as a brand, while also being simple and creative. Open your eyes at the next strip mall. I've been an ad agency creative director & printer. I guarantee 99.9% registration...it's called not cutting by hand, modern automation. How about you design this logo your way & email it to me. I was the designer & the gym caters towards females. You're a few "istics"
@GraphicDesignerTips : Sure, I'll email you, along with my Social Insurance #, address, and child's first name... give me an hour and I could come up with three better versions - sadly though I don't work for free - $85 p/h is my lowest rate my friend...
@excitationz Listen bud, I don't need to explain myself to you, but I'm having a great day so I can't resist. I'm sure you're a great designer I have no doubt.....with $85 per hour, apparent skill & a big mouth, for FREE I'll let you post ur portfolio link on ur next asinine comment so my 8K+ views might consider using a real "professional" like yourself. BTW,client always chooses, even if it's not the one you want them to. Here's my portfolio for you to drool over (smlstudios dot c-o-m) :P
@lordcimek Unfortunately I did not design their website. I would have loved to, but someone undercut my price but alot. I must say, they did a great job on it. Thank you for tuning in....Subscribe :)
Like how you show the business process of logo design. Do you convert your fonts to outline in your Illustrator designs or package the native fonts? (Side note: FlightCheck can package your used fonts in Illustrator, Photoshop, etc files, making a copy of the file and used artwork for archiving or sending to the printer.)
You should always be outlining your fonts when using illustrator. Although the flightcheck process adds a huge benefit of packaging the fonts also, as a printer for a number of years now, receiving a print ready PDF with the fonts outlined keeps me worry free when sending files to the RIP.
@GraphicDesignerTips Always is a strong term, but in general, I agree - certainly if the design is finalized and your making that print-ready PDF --- and of course first preflighting with FlightCheck :) Cheers.
How about ALWAYS making sure to not save over a file after outlining....that's gotta be frustrating!! Flightcheck is definitely on my list of softwares to try....I'll keep in touch. Thanks :=)
Some great information there, man. I'm taking a career change from animation to graphic design and I thought logos were easy, quick things. I know better now, it's just like storyboarding or character designs . They don't happen over night.
Exactly, they don't happen overnight, and you need to let any of your clients know that. PPL are misinformed about this industry due to a saturation of undercutters with often poor work. If you have an eye for animation then logo design will not only be a blast to you, but may come easier. It's all about the tiny details just like in the animations. When you get a web portfolio together, go to our site and add it. Awesome to hear, thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe.
