I guess you shouldn't feed your baby in public at all because you'd be judged either way. But really, never feeding your child in public is impossible. You HAVE to run errands occasionally. If you don't like it, just look away. I don't judge anyone for bottle feeding OR breastfeeding. I wouldn't bf in public but that's me. It's not inappropriate for kids to see anyone nurse. There are pictures of nearly naked women everyone that kids see.
I would NEVER give someone who is breastfeeding in public a hard time. I hate nursing covers. Eating with that over your head cannot be comfortable and I don't see why the baby should. Also if you are breastfeeding, why would you do double the work by obsessing over pumping before you leave the house with baby if your child drinks well from the breast? What annoys me is that those who bf are told to cover and those who feed with a bottle are judged as well. You can't do right by society!
I just wanted to add that you seem like a nice person, really. It's just everyone has such strong opinions about breastfeeding, no matter if they are pro, anti or claim to be neutral. I have visited many sites about breastfeeding and I DO realise the benefits. It's not like I'm trying to get pregnant and planning to ff right away. It's either adoption or no kids(unless I somehow accidentally become pregnant) because I don't see me breastfeeding AND enjoying my kid at the same time happening.
As we already establish I have no kid and wish to adopt and yes I'd want my adopted kid to have breastmilk. If people would call me lazy for using milk from a milk bank instead of manipulating my body to make it think that I've just given birth when I haven't they can go ahead and do so. Like I said if it were a life and death situation (like if I lived in Africa with no milk banks, formula were to expensive, little food etc.) I WOULD breastfeed
Just because breastfeeding makes me uncomfortable does NOT mean that I don't think that breastmilk is better. I just couldn't bring myself to do it unless it were a life or death situation. Even though my mother has not breastfed I know she loves me, which is why I get so defensive when people say ff parents are lazy etc. I was a preemie and after being released from the hospital she spent practically all day there just so SHE could give me my bottle. If that is lazy I don't know what isn't.
I'm sorry for assuming that you would do that because there ARE people who do and I feel like if it's a stranger it's none of my business what they do. You saying that my breasts BELONGS to my child just rubbed me the wrong way. I'm glad that we do agree on the topic of adoption though. There are so many kids all over the world who need parents but most people undergo expensive fertility treatments before they consider adopting. Kudos to you for donating your milk.
First off I don't have kids and if I will ever have them they will most likely be adopted (not having to bf is only one factor, I mainly just don't want to put a child inro this world) and then I'd have the right to donated bm. Yes I DID agree with you 50%. But you would not go to a woman eating a hambuger and ask "Why aren't you eating organic?". Because it's none of your business. My mother has NOT breastfed and I she did and does want what is best for me.
Need? I'm sorry but I DO NOT need to do anything with MY body. I need to eat, I need to pee, I need to pay taxes- but I do not NEED to breastfeed. If I just don't my body will stop producing milk and it isn't mandated by the state that you breastfeed. It would be the better choice probably, yes, but I have the right to choose formula feeding just like I have the right to eat fast food instead of organic. It isn't your problem, it's mine.
Comparing peeing to breastfeeding is ridiculous. There is a clear difference. If you do not breastfeed, the milk will dry up and go away. If you don't pee you'll end up peeing in your pants eventually. I'm not even a mother yet and I'll be honest- if it weren't for breastfeeding I'd be 100% sure that I'd want to have kids someday. And if formula hadn't been invited..I'd be 100% sure that I DON'T want kids- and would make sure I don't end up pregnant by accident even if that meant no sex.
@LoveABabytoday But the BREAST belongs to the woman!! This is a free world and every woman can decide to not breastfeed. Maybe you think it's selfish but it's none of your business.
well that is you and not all mothers feel the way you do!!! If you are gonna "expend the word" then do it more respectfully instead of putting other mothers down, you dont know everyones situation!!
Oh my ..I've been breastfeeding my son since birth ( he's four months as of yesterday Oh my its sooo beautiful but so much work. I breast feed and have been back to work for a month now. Its not easy but its worth it. I'm trying to last at least the first 6 months of his life. Whew! im trying. How old was your baby when u stopped breast feeding?
Not all women are able to breastfeed, so why make them feel bad to formula feed?? i have had 3 kids and all of them formula fed and are all very healthy and very smart!!!
Most women don't breast feed not because they can't but because it is inconvenient. If they can't, they can't. There are an incredible number of surveys supporting the benefits of breast feeding- why wouldn't it be the most beneficial? It's how we're intended to feed our children. Some have no choice, those who do- it's their choice to make. Sharing the truth does not "make" someone feel guilty.
ok first of all i never said anything about the truth making mothers feel guilty!! there are alot of mothers out there that put those moms down that formula feed. I support breast feeding and formula feeding...but i dont think ppl should judge mothers that do formula feed! Alot of us cant breast feed!! Alot of us dont produce enough milk!!!
Great Video! Im the same way ..Ive made it to a year so far and plan to go till he is ready! Im so happy that this is what i decided to do. I never considerd formula. My mother breastfed my sister and I and thats what i know. The bond i have with my son is amazing! So happy posted this!
