The overall message i got form this video is freewill is a gift that we use to define ourselves. Even though the cylons are exactly the same, they act completely different because of the choices they made. The centurions are just animals that do not have free will. Humans are kind of prejudice people, learning to accept differences.
@jkebab1 It does not matter. The premise that there is indeed a little something called free will makes it so strong. It's all about premises here, because we did not grasp the whole picture to make a final statement. This conclusion is always based on our personal observations, wheither we'd like to admit that or not.
this is one of the few shows (stories) that actually took me along for the ride and let me forget the real world for 1 hour at a time. I love this show.
'I think that this show resonates very strongly with people who are active thinkers & quite often in life, the active thinkers are labelled as the cult theorists & fringe thinkers or this & that, but people who really want to think about complex issues are attracted to this show.'Mary that was beautifully stated. & has been mentioned in previous comments i too loved the final episode. The show hinges on the fact that Hera is Mitachondrial Eve.This has all happened before and will happen again.
Olmos should enter politics, he can hold people's attentions.
Mary McDonnell - Smart & Sexy. I think they used make - up to make her LOOK older & frazzled by the rigors of cancer & the responsibilities of leadership.
just think about WWII ... The Germans were talking about a "Herren Rasse" which means a Race that should be better then every other Race... but the Humans are the Race ... all difference between, for example, Germans and Amerikans are culturell not raciell.. Just think about it.
Actually, what Olmos said stems from the fact that scientists have been saying for a while now that the term "race" is biologically meaningless. There is just as much genetic difference from people within their "race" as with people from other "races". Any two random human regardless of rather or not they are of the same race will have 0.1% genetic differences.
What Olmos is saying is that we should stop putting up artificial barriers between humans and live in harmony.
How to express my gratitude to the writters of a show who addressed to us as if we could both watch TV AND think at the mean time? This was not just well played by the actors (even the youngest) but amazingly written and it has gathered people who have something in common beyond the mere taste for "sci-fi" because, actually, this is not sci-fi.
Well, last night I just finished watching BSG the full series and it was beautiful! The best series I've ever seen a will every see in years to come. If ever. It was te only series I've ever seen where it felt like a journey, investing a lot of emotional turmoil. It's like saying goodbye to a family. I already miss it.
what happened to the cyclon at the ending? they found theyre new planet as well. They evolved as DECEPTICONS and AUTOBOTS and came back to earh as TRANSFORMERS. lol!
and after STARTREK. humans inhabited the universe. A new facist cult have birthed the SITH, again humans revolted against the DARK Lord of the SITH then STARWARS came, they made robotics again and cloned human and then the cycle wars came again as prophesied in the best TV show ever BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. It happened there and it will happen again... So say we all!!!
so say we all indeed. it happened in BSG they found earth. Earth went robotic and got Terminated by the TERMINATOR and human being revolted. humanity lost the war, robots made the MATRIX. humans again wokes up and revolted. They win and a new frontier came in STARTREK!!!
@fpsBeaTt Of those, only ToS, and TnG have stood the test of time.
Battlestar, in the few years that it ran, managed to become one of the most influential, and inspirational new series in sci-fi history.
Not knocking Star Trek at all, I'm just saying that of them, I have to agree that Battlestar had a more lasting influence, both as a viewer and as a human being.
I hate it when people say "Post 911". Yes a building falling down and a couple thousand people dying is terrible and the people that caused it should be executed for their crimes. But fuck people. You dropped an atom bomb on Hiroshima, that was much more devastating.
As for Battlestar Galactica, I'll make sure to watch the final episode! I hope everything is explained.
I think the thing is that 9/11 was much more recent in the memory of Americans during the time of the television series being created. Most Americans weren't around during the Hiroshima blasts and don't know anyone remotely affected by it. And I think the miniseries would not have had the impact on the audience it did if the 9/11 attacks had not happened. Thus, I think the use of the overused term "post 9/11" really was appropriate in this instance.
I fail to see how Giuliani has anything to do with Ron D. Moore's use of the term "Post 9/11". If the former mayor of New York City uses the term and you have a problem with it, fine. While I think that the usage of a term should be evaluated by the context of when it is mentioned and not by who says it, that is outside the range of the point I was trying to make. It is obvious Ron D. Moore was perfectly justified in using the term "Post 9/11" to discuss how the show was made and its impact.
I like the reimagined Battlestar Galactica, but I don't think it can really compare with Firefly.
Firefly was the type of show that should have had 5 or 6 seasons. I hope it will be a lesson to everyone that when you have an idea for a show, DON'T take it to FOX!
sorry, with all due respect, but Firefly doens´t contain half of the topics issues and undercurrents of what mankind is dealing with as BSG. IT DOES A LOT, don´t get me wrong, i really like Firefly..But is not close to BSG IMHO.
Anyone notice how Firefly is to modern television what BSG was in the 70s? Both are classics and insanely short-lived. The only difference is Firefly had a GOOD resolution.
even associated press miss it ='[
