I've been looking at some footage from Tarjas concerts after she got kicked where she sings NW songs. I didn't know she did this until now, and I must say... She has improved a lot and I'm impressed.
Not as a singer, but with her live performance in general. In NW, she always had horrible pronounciation of her English. I'm glad to say that this has improved a lot.
Maybe she just needed a wake-up call. The songs seem to really mean something to her now.
I actually like all 3 versions of this... Tarja with Nightwish, Tarja with this band, Annette with Nightwish... I wish people would stop hating on Annette... they both are great singers in their own rights, you would all probably love Annette if she started her own band, its just because she joined Nightwish that you all hate her...

Tarja was, is and always will be unique, concerning her voice, her way of performing and also her person! She is the one who gives all her songs ( including NWs ) heart and soul! Tarja is the Queen - She owns this song! Just because Anette "poured her soul out" still leaves her a Pop singer. Reminds me of the city (I forget which one) that paid mega bucks for a statue, what they got was a big clothes pin because somebody thought it was art! It seems to me that Tarja's singing this song a lot more expressively than she was with Nightwish...she's not just singing it as someone who performs the song, but as someone who sincerely LOVES the song. In my humble opinion she's playing with very good musicians. I like her current band, and I'm very happy with what they did in the last couple of years and what they're doing right now.

She always wanted to start a solo career on the side by the band. She has backgrounds that frame her vocals now which makes it a bit more classical Tarja is trying to find a balance that matches for her because as she grew with Nightwish she had come to like the lifestyle to an extent. Allow her to do as she wishes.

@212gatita Sí, en efecto, recién se ha catalogado ella misma como soprano líricA y ha cambiado su tesitura, pues inició como mezzosoprano lírica, poseía una sonoridad muy apreciable. Quizás ella desee cantar con voz no tanto de canto lírico (ópera), pues aunque sea una soprano lírica, no es lo mismo cantar una o dos horas en 2 ó 3 días consecutivos a cantar 1 ó 2 horas con descanso de un día entre concierto y concierto, que es lo que se hace en la ópera.
@212gatita Tarja sabe muy bien que arriesgaría sobremanera su voz si interpretara con canto lírico, en días consecutivos, a hacerlo con canto común. Tan es así que parece como si poco a poco abandonara el canto lírico, dejándolo apreciar en ocasiones, y recurriendo a un canto menos riguroso.
@212gatita Desearía que no dejara del todo el canto lírico y que complaciera a sus seguidores (allí me incluyo) con canciones nuevas, aunque sea una o dos, como cuando nos enamoró desde el origen al apreciarla cantando con tesitura de soprano o mezzosoprano. A mí en lo particular no me interesa mucho si es soprano o mezzosoprano (mientras lo sea), con cualquiera de esos espectros vocálicos la seguiría escuchando.

a tarja le era dificil cantar como lo asia en nw por ella en soprano lirico
y cantar como mezzoprano la dejastaba muxo aunk en mi opinion me gustaba un poco mas
esta rola en este video si lo notaron no lo canto en nnotas como mezzosoprano si no como lirico
yo siento k le esta asiendo falta en contar un punto medio
bueno esa es mi opinion

@212gatita Sí, en efecto, recién se ha catalogado ella misma como soprano líricA y ha cambiado su tesitura, pues inició como mezzosoprano lírica, poseía una sonoridad muy apreciable. Quizás ella desee cantar con voz no tanto de canto lírico (ópera), pues aunque sea una soprano lírica, no es lo mismo cantar una o dos horas en 2 ó 3 días consecutivos a cantar 1 ó 2 horas con descanso de un día entre concierto y concierto, que es lo que se hace en la ópera.

@212gatita Tarja sabe muy bien que arriesgaría sobremanera su voz si interpretara con canto lírico, en días consecutivos, a hacerlo con canto común. Tan es así que parece como si poco a poco abandonara el canto lírico, dejándolo apreciar en ocasiones, y recurriendo a un canto menos riguroso.

@212gatita Desearía que no dejara del todo el canto lírico y que complaciera a sus seguidores (allí me incluyo) con canciones nuevas, aunque sea una o dos, como cuando nos enamoró desde el origen al apreciarla cantando con tesitura de soprano o mezzosoprano. A mí en lo particular no me interesa mucho si es soprano o mezzosoprano (mientras lo sea), con cualquiera de esos espectros vocálicos la seguiría escuchando.

I remember her playing simultaniously with Arch Enemy. Every time tarja stopped playing you heard Angela scream her guts out in the background. Made a funny contrast lol.. Angelas powerful grunting vs. Tarja´s sweet yet powerful opera voice..
Nevertheless, gotta say.. Damn she was good..

@GothicLirius NW debería buscar otra vocalista que sea más capaz que Anette, alguien del perfil de Tarja o Simone Simons, que pueda cantar dignamente TODAS las canciones y no solo algunas, porque Anette solo suena bien en DPP, pero cuando canta x ej, esta cancion, nemo, ever dream, etc, ¡DIOS MIO, MIS OIDOS! @NwDevotion Primer y unico punto: solo te pones a criticar la interpretacion, sin tener en cuenta los direfentes y muy existentes factores, preguntale a un mastro de canto, y te dira lo mismo, tiene absolutamente mucho que ver esto: "Si anteriormente hizo presentaciones, el clima, desgaste fisico y vocal, algun trastorno neurofuncional(jet lag) y entre otras cosas, no es solo, subirse al escenario, y cantar asi como asi. Asi que no critiques a tarja, asi como asi, vale?

@stupid0weakness deja de como use su voz, cada cantante sabe como tiene que cuidarla sea cual sea la tecnica de canto que use, tambien hay que tomar en cuenta factores como que ella viene del polo norte, bueno, Finlandia, el cambio de altura, clima, horario, jet lag, y el desgaste que puede ya tener, no sabemos cuantas canciones canto antes, todo eso afecta a cualquier cantante, y merma en mayor o menor grado a cada cantante.

It's hard to make a difference between this and the song recorded on the wishmaster album. Great performance. She might not be the most beautiful woman in the metal scene(counting female singers and fans too), but she sings amazingly.

Listen to the original recording and some of Tarja's earlier live performances of this from 2001 to 2004 and you'll hear the difference. If you can't hear it, you are the fantardic idiot. We can all cringe at Anette's early 2007 recordings, as she struggled early on, however its hard not to cringe at this either.

I've been to two tarja's concert in the last years and she was always perfect while singing....

I was at Wacken and her voice was uncontrolled and her musician were not
