I think the "Digital Divide" project is part of government-controlled internet. Taxpayers already provide free cell phones for those on government assistance. You can get internet service at any public library. Tax payers are ALREADY paying for free internet for anyone that can’t afford it! The government wants to control the internet. What happened to freedom of speech? With only 49% of the USA paying taxes, seems to me "too many are riding in the wagon and not enough PULLING!"

Like I said in my last post, there are issues coming from all over affecting the internet. I discussed this issue with two of my technocrat friends who were using the internet back in the late eighties and early nineties before it was even called the internet. They tell me that there are ways around some of these issues, but they are complicated. A lot of people are seeing what's going on, but the question is are they organized enough to do something about it...technically and politically.
Knowledge is power and the more people who understand whats going on the better chance we have of being organized. Back in the eighties the internet was called the World Wide Wiretap - a backfired attempt to spy on us.
Unfortunately there's no way around this as far as I can see. For once in the history of the human race we have been able to speak to each other without censorship. This was unacceptable to those in power and they have decided to stop that freedom.
History will show that for a very brief period the masses had a chance to communicate freely thought the world (except for China)!

It's not so nice to read that ... I already knew about some broadcasting licenses including for private websites here in Germany but it is only if you're using copyrighted music on it. Then you have to get all the different licenses at the GEMA. But this reads like to be the next step if they want to get licenses even from an ordinary vlogger who doesn't even use any music in his or her videos.
Luckily that European legislation didn't pass but they keep trying to clamp down on free speech with more. Eventually they will pass some type of anti vlogging law or just phase in internet2 - and eliminate vlogging alltogether.
Way I see it, if the enemy is known, you can target them, rather than worry abut the symptoms of control. Unless they've taken away the ability to even combat them, in which case we would be screwed. :(

And and just to throw something out there: Cyber Security Act H.R. 4061 doesn't block all the websites, it blocks what needs to be blocked: phishing sites, malware sites, sites that are generally BAD.

A: The internet CAN'T be shut down or controlled to that extent. Too many people have private servers and networks for it to go down. Also, the net was created by hackers originally going under the government's nose, they will keep it going.

Yep, checked it out. I2 wouldn't be a good idea. But considering the internet is made up MOSTLY of people like you and I, I don't think people would pay for it. I wouldn't. If people don't pay for it, it would surely fail. Computers would fall, also. 50% of having a computer goes with the internet, unless you really don't use your computer.
Internet is a must have for me. I use it too much to go with out.
Sadly, I don't think these losses would squelch the government's push for I2.

Like I said in my last post, there are issues coming from all over affecting the internet. I discussed this issue with two of my technocrat friends who were using the internet back in the late eighties and early nineties before it was even called the internet. They tell me that there are ways around some of these issues, but they are complicated. A lot of people are seeing what's going on, but the question is are they organized enough to do something about it...technically and politically.

Freedom of today is not the freedom we had years ago.
It's not so nice to read that ... I already knew about some broadcasting licenses including for private websites here in Germany but it is only if you're using copyrighted music on it. Then you have to get all the different licenses at the GEMA. But this reads like to be the next step if they want to get licenses even from an ordinary vlogger who doesn't even use any music in his or her videos.
