i bought a stock 89 Cherokee bout 8 yrs ago for $500 , for a TOY,,, man,, the most fun $500 ever,,, the thing was awsome, had for shitty street tires on it,, and it was unstoppable, had to pull my buddies wrangler with 31 inch BFG off roads, outa the hole a couple times... i would love to get a 2000-01 Cherokee... Great rigs for short cash

i had the time of my life with my 98 sport in darwin australia out ran and out drove land crusers and patrolls but to much work is needed to fix all the wear and tear after 8 years so ill have to find a 98-2000 thats never been off road.  I LOVE the jeep

Anybody thinking about putting a 2-3" lift on their Cherokee, Old Man Emu has the best suspension systems in the world. They're made in Australia, built for the Land Rovers and Land Cruisers for Safari runs. If you want to fit 31" tires or 245/75/R16's on your Cherokee, and have the ride quality BETTER than stock, with lots of articulation, OME is the best.

I keep it on just in case i get a tail-gaiter on my ass and i have to stop due to someone in front of me. My dad used it on his J10 and it saved his bumper!

Awesome video, even stock these things go anywhere. I just noticed you have the same wheels as I had with my stock tires, the 5 spoke with the Jeep logo in the middle, I haven't seen any others on the road with those before.

When I turn 16 I wanna get somthing exacly like that 2 more years.I'm gonna do a 2" Super lift kit, 30x9.5R15 BFGoodwrench K/O's, Gibson exauste, K&N FIPK cold air intake, Poweraid throttle body spacer, and JET chip. For offroad performance it would be Olympic front and rear bumpers. TOTAL comes otu to $2100.(this is what I do all day).

You should do a 3" lift, I had a 3" lift with 30x9.5 and it was a great setup, no rubbing at all even with disconnected sway bars. Now I have the same lift but with 31x10.5 tires and already knocked the front fender flares off on the trails. I think the 30s with a 2" would rub just like my 31s with 3". Especially if you are going to have the extra weight of aftermarket bumpers.

They are not quite stock sized tires... they are the biggest tire you can put on without rubbing and without a lift kit. 235/75/15

sick! I just bought a 98 cherokee with the in line 4.0. I'm glad to see it has such praise from everybody and is so capable stock. I was wondering if I wanted to get bigger tires maybe 33's or even just 31's what would be the best approach, either a suspension lift and a body lift, or for the smaller 31's maybe just a body lift? What about fender customization? Thank-you

You can't do a body lift on a Cherokee because it's got unibody construction. You can only do a suspension lift and it takes quite a bit to get 33's. 31's is a lot easier but both can be done. Fender trimming is pretty common on lifted Cherokees.

A lot depends on the overall condition of the vehicle. If it runs fantastic and you don't see any major problems in the near future, then go for it. If you already have 200,000 miles or more and it's leaking a lot of oil, or the Jeeps rusting out, then I'd probably do a small, cheap lift and 31's.

I order to get 36's and have enough fender clearence you need a six inch lift... 31 almost fit with any lift... I would get a 2-4 inch lift with 31.

33's will fit on a 4-4.5 inch lift. I saw a really cool XJ w/ 4.5" lift, but had the fenders cut really nice to fit 35's in there.

its a jeep thing bra. i love my 01 cherokee (4.0l w/ manual trans), even stock it can go through some mud.

as for the guy asking about what to get. the jeeps 4.0l inline 6 engine is bullet proof. that thing lasts so long plus they're easy to work on. def go with a jeep cherokee 4.0l inline 6. u wont be disappointed.

I bought the Jeep with 235/75/15 Pirelli Scorpions. Later I changed to 235/75/15 BFG All-Terrains. I think I'll probably go with BFG Mud Terrains next time.

This is a personal question, opinions and facts are what I am looking for. Which do you think is *overall* the better vehicle: A Jeep Cherokee (Sport or Limited), Grand Cherokee, or Chevy Blazer 4dr? I am narrowing down choices and I wanted a few opinions.

The Jeep Cherokee is better than the Grand or the 4 door Blazer. The Jeep is not as wide as the grand and the axles are aluminum in a lot of the Grands so they may not be as strong. The 4 door Blazer doesn't have much ground clearance and the rear ends go out in them all the time, even with low mileage. Get a Cherokee with the 4.0L 6 cylinder and you won't be sorry.
