  • You said that it's a chemical reaction directly on the skin that makes the sunscreen effective, but when i apply moisturizer afterwards i can't reapply the sunscreen later because i already have moisturizer on and it doesnt go directly to the skin then?

  • But how can moisturizers and serums penetrate the skin if there's a sunscreen on it? i like all your video's alot but i don't get this haha. if the skin absorbed everything before a sunscreen perfectly i wouldn't see why the sunscreen couldn't do it's job fine enough..?

  • thanks for posting i would not have known this

  • Do I need to apply my moisturizer+suncreen first even if it is heavier than my serum?

  • @anaisabelappff I still think it's wrong to put sunscreen before serum and moisturiser. Number 1: some of the sunblock will come off when ure massaging in serum and putting moisturiser. Number 2: serum is way more lightweight than sunblock, it can't absorb if u apply sunblock first.

The face is v impt so id advise to do some research about skincare and not just rely on this one video. :)

  • Really!? I never new sunscreen should be applied before moisturizer, But my question is, what about benzoyl peroxide gel/cream that I put all over my face (not just as a spot treatment)? Thanks!

  • Thank you for the tips, but my sunscreen is in my moisturiser and I use an acne product (La Rochse Posay Effaclar Duo) on all of my face. My Effaclar Duo pack says to apply the sunscreen last (after the acne product) so I'm a bit confused....

  • Are toners with salicylic or glycolic acid considered exfoliants? I know they have the effect of chemically exfoliating dead skin cells, but it would seem to me that applying a chemical exfoliant after sunscreen, like you suggest, would simply wipe the sunscreen off your face along with the dead skin and other residue. So would you also use chemical exfoliants after sunscreen?

  • @AlexanderGodiva: Toners are used to remove dirt and debris from skin that cleansers don't remove, preparing skin for active ingredient use, and as such, effective toners shouldn't contain actives (e.g., glycolic, salicylic). And while your concern about exfoliants after sunscreen is a common misconception, chemical exfoliants won't remove sunscreen unless the vehicle they are in dissolves off the sunscreen. However, I'd recommend using them at night to not have to worry about this.

  • @IIlllIIIlIlI: I've actually written a lot on this topic to address this important issue. If you want the link to that information (since I can't post it in the comments here) please message me directly and I'll send it to you.

  • If you apply your exfoliant after sunscreen (I use one with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide) how does it get through to the skin to be effective enough?

  • @betterskingirl: On days when you're using your chem-free sunscreen, to optimize the results of your exfoliant, consider using it in the evening or bed time.

  • hi : ) how much sunscreen do you apply to the face?

  • @piliaz: I answer that question in episode #11, "How to Properly Apply Sunscreen." You should be able to find it on YouTube or by googling. Unfortunately, YouTube won't enable me to post a link here.
