  • 'Spain was the enemy of Cuban, whether they were Black or Whites'. OK. Why don't they talk about White Cuban slaveholders? Actually, many of the leaders of 1868 war opposed abolition of slavery. Besides, most of Cuban slaveholders opposed the abolition of slavery issued by the Spanish Government in 1887.

    ¡Viva Cuba española!

  • Indeed a series worth watching or ordering on DVD. Professor Gated conducted a thorough research on Black in South America which was a documentary covering not only Cuba, but Mexico,Brazil, Porto Rico,Spain etc. It originally aired on PBS in a weekly series.

  • The true identity nationality of the so called black slave descendants and foreparents are truly biblicaly Hebrew israelites. see site for more truths Hebrewisraelitesdotorg. amein

  • lol! im 29 and wow where have i been I just found out last years black slaves were shipped here and to south america too. And Just found out like three months ago my grandad was cuban.

  • r u people dumb that there hati is close bye ur retared fags

  • Excellent documentry. I watched it when it originally premiered on PBS.

    Well worth the watch.

  • @gusanomariellito : By the way without the help of the castro's regime apartheid would not have been defeated: it was the battle of Cuando Cubango where more than 20000 cubans mostly blacks fought that dstroyes the hope of the white supremacist government allied with the US were lost .

  • @rutagengwa Castro accomplished nothing in Angola, loosing in vain; a mix of lousy fighters using lousy soviet equipment. The South African army was much smaller, a fraction, yet they advanced at an astounding rate. I heard of castro militants leaving tanks turned on and running, dropping weapons on the floor at the sight of South Africans. Angola today wants nothing to do with communism. They couldn't even get enough signatures for the 2008 elections. USA contributed to apartheid, not castro.

  • @rutagengwa USA contributed to the end of apartheid and not castro. The motive behind castro's involvement in Angola was because he is an imbecil who had dreams of becoming a potent superpower but in reality he's nothing but a stinking soviet turd abandoned and detested, him and his followers, all imbeciles fixated on an abnormal ideology that goes against human nature - communism. Not even the Russians want anything to do with communism and the imbecile castro is still advocating it. Shit!

  • @gusanomarielito america was one of the few countries that did business with apartheid south africa...The black movenemnt in south africa got support from soviet including money and arms..America supplied weapons and money to apartheid regeim Though under left wing US president carter it was eased.

  • @SolidTube911 It was a compromise during the conflicts with Angola. The castro communist regime and the soviets where arming MPLA to the teeth. They infiltrated surrounding countries like Nimibia and South Africa had to respond. The Soviets armed the communists in Angola and the Americans armed the South Africans and other militias. After communism was out of the way then the US put sanctions on South Africa to end the racist Apartheid. It was the US that put pressure not the communists.

  • @gusanomariellito the rich that escaped to the US had always had their savings there. No other refugee or immigrant was granteed the privileges that white cubans were granted. Ask the haitians! To speak about sweat and hard work from you is an insult to any other immigrant and not the least to African-americans and native americans.

  • @ gusanomarielito In July 1825, King Charles X of France sent a fleet of 14 vessels and thousands of troops to reconquer the island of HAITI . Under pressure, President Boyer agreed to a treaty by which France formally recognized the independence of the nation in exchange for a payment of 150 million francs more than 10 billions US$ of today (reduced to 90 million in 1838) – an indemnity for profits lost from the slave trade. DOESN'T THIS REMINDS YOU SOMETHING?

  • @rutagengwa I can't think of what it is that you may thing this reminds me of.

  • @gusanomarielito The embargo against Cuba! Castro knowing his history refused to comply as Boyer did before. By allying itself with the USSR Cuba delivered a good blow on imperialism.

  • @gusanomarielito The embargo against Cuba! Castro knowing his history refused to comply as Boyer did before. By allying itself with the USSR Cuba delivered a good blow on imperialism.

  • @rutagengwa By allying itself with teh USSR Cuba delivered a fatal blow on "ITSELF!" Castro is an imbecile and a moron. He allied with the soviets and destroyed the island. The Americans built the 3rd best infrastructure of the latinamerican hemisphere during the Republic 1902 - 1958 (56 years) only third to Argentina and Mexico; and Castro destroyed it during his dictatorship 1959 - 2011 (52 years). How Cuba is the third poorest area in the hemisphere after Haiti and Nicaragua - a good blow!

  • @gusanomariellito My dear you seem to ignore the fact that until 2007, the ANC was still on the "terorist organisation list" of the US state department. It was condoleeza Rice who was shamed into cancellling it after a former South-African ambassador to the US was refused " the special waiver " for the visa.

  • @gusanomariellito: Cuba has the best education and health system in all of latin america . like any stats will show you their average span of living is superior to any other country. Cuba is poor if you look at the exchange rates but by the standard of living the average people is better off than any other country of latin america.

  • @gusanmarielito: that is bound to give an harsh lesson to anyone who dares not to submit to the wills of american plutocracy. Cuba was to be defeated and crushed as Haiti was during the 19th century because a succesfull black republic would be a danger for all the slaves holders of the hemisphere. An independent Cuba was viewed by the USA as a threat to the predatory capitalism it practicised all over Latin America.

  • @gusanmarielito: your knowledge of history is astoundingly poor. The USA rode on the bandwangon of victory of the anti-apartheid alliance made of the ANC, the COSATU and guess what the South-African Communist PARTY. The USA never imposed any significant sanctions against apartheid, instead it consistently helped them with military and control technologies triangulating with Israel. The US embargo on Cuba haws nothing to do with human rights whatsoever but with neo-imperialism

  • so bbbbbbbbbooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnggggggggg

  • Castro looks black!

  • That is not cuba that Haiti cuban r not black minority r black hispanic is light and the majority

  • @jujumaywoo I disagree with you about the embargo. The US put an embargo on the castro communist tyrany because it violates fundamental human rights. The US also put an embargo on the South Africa regimental government because of similar human right violations. Hence, Apartheid; and the US upheld the embargo until rights where granted to ALL the citizens South Africa no matter what skin color. The same goes for the castro communist regime - the embargo remains until democracy is restored.

  • @gusanomarielito I can appreciate the point you are trying to make but the US did not put an embargo on South Africa, people and organizations of the US did. Do more research on the apartheid before you try to use it as an argument.

  • @gusanomarielito Again history is not your subject matter! The USA helped the apartheid regime so much that until 3 years ago ANC members needed a special waiver to enter the US. Second the embargo on cuba is not on human rightts but to recover american properties and white cuban latifondium.

  • @rutagengwa You're wrong. Everybody needs a waiver or a visa to enter the US, not just ANC members. Think again. 1. Cuban americans rebuilt their lives and wealth here in Miami - we basically built this city with our sweat to be one of the top world destinations. 2. We struggle for the freedom of Cuba because we want our countrymen to enjoy the same liberty and justice that we discovered here in the USA. 3. There is no property or business in Cuba that we can't already have here. Think!

  • A semi literate war general....now that is cool.

  • Black slaves did the same in America, fought in every major war America has been in...except racism wasn't transcended. Oh well.

  • He leaves out Dominican Republic that did NOT gain its independence until February 27, 1844 when he mentions free countries from Spain in 1825. Haitians crossed the border in 1821 when Spain granted DR its freedom. This lasted for 22 yrs until Duarte, Sanchez, and Mella leading the Dominican War of Independence!

  • Racism and prejudice is everywhere whether it be over race or ethnicity. We see this ALL over the world in South America, Europe, Asia, etc. Polish vs Germans, Irish vs. English, Colombians vs. Venezuelans, Ecuadorians vs. Peruvians, Bolivians vs. Chileans, etc

  • How did he get a license to go to Cuba?

  • great great vid..only thing is did the taino people totaly go wipe out in cuba? he makes no mention about then, i would think a good percentage would still be present...

  • We have a lot more in common that a lot of us would like to admit. This whole series expkains that, and its un deniable. A funny example is the dougie. Did you know that it is soooo frigin easy to dpugie to salsa? Dont believe me? Try it

  • Videos like these prove that us Blacks and Hispanics should be closer than we are!

  • @Bladeboy05 but, majority of Hispanics dont have nothing in common with african-americans,.different cultures. upbringing, beliefes, etc.

    most african-americans are extremely afrocentric.

  • @BladedgeES I'm talking about Hispanics in the U.S. Different cultures and etc. what the the hell does that mean just because we have different cultures and belief we shouldn't be at peace and join with each other? Wow your whole lil way of thinking is hella lame :D Still we also have a common Issue. You white people. Whites, not just Americans, all Whites are extremely Eurocentric.

  • @Bladeboy05 i was referring to the all majority of hispanics, the u.s. and hispanics in latin america. for example; you think a chilean has something in common with african-american culture? no, i dont think so. stop bunching us up all together as if we're supposed to be close with african-americans, like i said before most of us dont have nothing in common with blacks. that's not being racist, that is reality.

  • @BladedgeES my bad your right, if your a white Chilean. I can care less for you. I'm only talking for Black and Indigenous peoples of Latin America. Not the Whites. My family is from colombia and American music has a big influence in Latino Americano. I've been to Colombia, Puerto Rico, Cuba, chile and Brazil and they have have hip-music or some from of Hip-hop which of course started in the states. So don't forget that Reggaeton is Hip-hop.

  • ...great documentary...it's nice to see the point of view of somebody totally outside the culture...it can give us an outlook that help us see better into ourselves...thank you prof. Gates...

  • Negroids are an invasive species like the whites.Look into the Trans-Saharan slave trade.Go blame the Europeans,Arabs,Berbers, and your OWN "brothas" for enslaving you and bringing your black asses over here.No sympathy here, kaffirs. There were black conquistadors who killed natives. The original people of these islands in the carribeans were exterminated and replaced by invadors from europe and sub-sahara apefreak.

  • @liquidsnake123

    Self consolation huh white boy??

You are solely to blame for all the evil in the world today.

  • Comments like these below are terrible. There are so many people out there that contribute to racism in this world it sickens me. I feel like so many people will have to die in order for the world to move forward out of the racist state that we have been in for so long. And when I say alot, I mean A LOT OF PEOPLE WILL HAVE TO DIE!!! Apocalypse Now.

  • @cleopatrajones1977

its not really about the color its about the rich controlling the poor

as long as 5% of the population controls 95% of the wealth

you will always have these types of problems, no matter what

color is in the country & mexico is proof of that !!! The wealth of

the country is not distributed evenly amoung the people, that's

the real problem & blacks are usually @ the bottom of the list

when it comes to having weath, but are blamed for all social

    problems !!

  • @632663266326 I agree with you up to a point. But the fact is, what makes a nation strongest is the prosperity of the MIDDLE CLASS. There will always be poor no matter what. And if there happens to be a few among them that are rich, for whatever reason, then you get big problems. However, if most of the population is middle class then you don't have the problems that you mention above. The trick to a healthy nation is helping the poor make it out of poverty. Hence, middle class.

  • @gusanomarielito Has America successfully created this? We have the largest middle class in the world right?

  • @adeart7 I say ABSOLUTELY - the US is middle class. I find it ridiculous how some people break up the middle class further; into lower-middle and upper-middle class. In my opinion: if a family of four has two cars, two televisions, a comfortable place to live, a healthy diet and enough money saved for a two week vacation, then "You're middle class". Most families in the US do have that and it is magnificent compared to the rest of the population around the world.

  • @gusanomarielito I would not say MOST Americans live the lifestyle you describe. .Inequality and poverty still exist in large numbers in our society. All you have to do is come to my neighborhood in Mississippi and you'll see it. It would seem that its impossible create a society where everyone is middle class. 300,000.000 exist in this country, with a variety of class levels.

  • @adeart7 We have a very high standard of living in the US. I've heard foreigners say that most poor families here are actually a very high class of poor compared to other countries, even civilized countries. I do know, for sure, that if you are a person of virtue and ambition, here in the US you can make it out of poverty faster than any other place on earth. However if you are a person of severe mental delay and conformity then you are probably going to be poor no matter where you are on earth.

  • @632663266326 --- I can agree with that however, I still feel that racism is still out there and growing strong. Classism is there too but racism is still a problem that has to be delt with!!!

  • @cleopatrajones1977 Racism will never go away because ignorance abounds. I try to make people understand the fallacy of race by referring them to the documentary "The Journey of Man: A Genetic Odyssey". This documentary changed my life and my understanding of racism. I recommend everyone to watch it, so we can learn how we are all the same humans except for a few small cosmetic differences. Even different shades of blue eye color and blonde hair made the Nazis racist among themselves.

  • @gusanomarielito What about gingers, nazis forgotten about that mutation. No one is more whiter than ginger people.

  • @SolidTube911 The whitest people of all are the albinos; they have no pigmentation. Ironically, most albinos are blacks with no color in their skin. I guess that's what the Nazis wanted; pure white superiority; and if you where more white than your neighbor then you where superior; even if you where a dumb-ass you where superior because of your skin color - it made no f..king sense then and it makes no sense now. Also, exactly what makes one people superior to others? I never understood that.

  • @cleopatrajones1977 Another great example of why racism will never go away: The Rwandan Genocide; where blacks killed other blacks because of their different racial background. Can you believe it? In 100 days the Hutu mob killed approximately 800,000 Tutsi. The Tutsi are black but of lighter skin color other characteristics. This is evidence of how one group can racially discriminate on another because of a minute shade in skin color and the such. The combinations of racism can be endless.

  • @632663266326 I agree with the fact that the wealthy control the poor and for some reason black people get blamed for everything bad (especially here in the US). However I have to disagree that color has nothing to do with it. In some areas color alone has everything to do with the race problems they have. Hell like someone else said black people go against other black people just because of a slight shade difference. The same can be said for some latino's as well. We just have to stop!!!

  • cuba fails and it smells

  • My 1st cousins are white skin an straight hair I'm brown with kinky hair but 1 thing stayed the same are nose an cheek bones I'm finding

  • Y'all is all rude to blacks this is y my mom never let me meet my family I'm 24 years old I never knew I was half Cuban my mom denied my heritage. Cuz my dad is black but my mom my great grandparents an grandfather is full Cuban

  • we hispanics have a LOT of african in us and we should be proud of it! i know i am!

  • @patriciacarrasco Ditto!

  • @patriciacarrasco I'm Hispanic and I am disgusted that I have to be group in with a bunch a monkeys

  • @632663266326 Just go back to Africa and leave the Respectable Hispanics in peace. Being group in with blacks is the same as somebody spitting in my face. Afro-Latinos smug up Latin America and it's culture.

  • @JOSUE1987

Just go to Spain and talk that shit about hey, me Spanish, and

see if you don't get your ass beat up outta there !!!

  • @632663266326 Go back to Africa and leave the the western hemisphere, you Afro-Latinos were brought here and slaves. This was a huge mistake .....you Niggas should have never been brought here/

  • @JOSUE1987

You dumb Indian... I never been to Africa. In order to go back to a place

you would have to have been to that place before,so how do you go

back to a place that you never been to ?? Blacks were forced to come

to you're stupid, dumb, flood prone, volcano erupting, rat infested

land !! However, if you want me to go to Africa buy me a ticket, i'll go !

The ticket will cost 3,700 $ let me know Mr Indian when you've got

the ticket .. Buy me a ticket, Indio CHAPARROOOOO, ENANO !!!

  • @632663266326 Don't matter if you've never been to Africa, you monkeys need to be sent back to the jungle. You Niggers should have never been brought to the western hemisphere. You Apes Smug up Latin American culture and that's the truth. Look at the shithole country of Haiti. That country is a bump as well as any community with large black population. I absolutely hate having to be group in with you Moneys. Trust me when I say if I had the money I would buy every black a ticket back to Africa.

  • @JOSUE1987 Where all Africans. The first humans where black. The proof is in the DNA and you cannot dispute that. Watch a documentary called "The Journey of Man: A Genetic Odyssey". Watch the entire documentary then get back to me. Especially interesting is the part where they show how the faces of the bushmen resemble the faces of every continent.

  • @JOSUE1987

OH NO YOU FUCKING DIDN'T TRY TO CALL A BLACK COUNTRY A SHITHOLE

Bitch have you seen peru, mexico, or el salvador ?! Stupid, dumb, broke ass

  • @JOSUE1987 Shut the Fuck up Cabron. Vete a la Mierda. Go Fuck yourself

  • @JOSUE1987 Where are you from exactly. Because if you are not directly from Spain then you come from a long line of rapped people that had their culture stipped of them just like alot of other people effected by slavery. And if you are from Spain then you can attribute a lot of your culture to the Moor's so do your research and next time you won't sound so ignorant.

  • @cleopatrajones1977 My Family is from Mexico as were my grandparents and great grandparents and so on.

  • @JOSUE1987 You racist wet back spic go to spain and see how they treat you bean bag!!! people from spain think your below the rat shit on the dirt!!!!No matter how many N words you call blacks YOU CAN NEVER BE WHITE!! Your making all the other hispanic look bad bitch!!! I know your stinking ass gonna say the n word trying to be like the people that hate your watered back azz!!! smh!!!motherfucka trying to to be white HA HA HA HA HA HA WHAT A JOKE!!!jsyk everybody in the worlds want to be like us

  • @patriciacarrasco Go tell that to a Mexican, lol. All though I got love for Mexicans as I do all races some of them be having racial animosity towards Blacks. Some of it I understand but we need more dialog between Blacks and Latinos. They need to be reminded of how places like Arizona in just the last year tried to remove them from America based on looks alone. The same power structure that oppresses us oppresses them. What's sad is that we get put against each other because of poverty.

  • @u2hubbard Who the hell said I'm being oppressed. I'm a U.S citizen so as far As immigration laws goes none of them apply to me.

  • They use that transcend bullshit to get the numbers and make Blacks feel included. But after the objection is met they want nothing to do with us or have us right back where we were. To me all Whites are the same. Some a racist and some are not so racist. But they all share the same power structure which marginalizes Blacks and other people of color of the world. And it's more about maintaining power and privilege than creating equality. I know one thing, I love all woman kind, lol.

  • @u2hubbard Your comment itself sounds very racist. Read it carefully and you'll see. Oh, another thing, blacks are also racist and not just whites.

  • @gusanomarielito I know that I'm racist and so are you. But the mother of my child is White. And just because I'm racist doesn't mean I hate White people or any other race. I just hold discontent for that which harbors condescension towards me and my people. We as Blacks are racist because of history and present day circumstances that we suffer from on a collective level. My comments might sound shrewd but the truth is not always pleasant. And you shouldn't personalize when we generalize.

  • @gusanomarielito Hey I wanted to add you as a friend so I could discuss this thing more intellectually and give you some insight into my views. If you want to believe I'm a bad person because I'm only as racist as you go ahead. I'm for the ultimate form of integration which is interracial relationships. I see my daughter and other kids born from Black fathers and Black mothers as part of our collective. Plus I'm for having friends in all races. So run and tell that. What racist you know in like.

  • @u2hubbard I don't consider myself racist. I've had the privilege of friends and people I've loved from many races. I myself am ethnic multiracial. My grandmother is a dark mulata and my great grandparents were black. I'm light skinned with kinky hair and other black characteristics. Additionally people of Spanish descent also have a lot of arabic in them from when the arabs ruled in Iberia (southern Spain). Additionally I'm from the Caribbean so I may also have some Taino Arawak. Shoot.

  • @gusanomarielito You are a denialist which is one of the worst types of racist. Why whole thing is why point the finger at me as being more racist than you. You go along with not speaking on it or making the victim the victimizer and blaming all the problems that Blacks face as a collective on themselves. Everyone is racist, it's just about how far you take it. White racism doesnot effect White people. Some of them might feel bad about it but it really doesnot effect them.

  • @u2hubbard Say that to the descendants of white Civil War victims who died by the thousands to liberate the blacks. Say that to the descendants of white lawmakers who fought for all blacks. Say that to all the whites who dedicated their lives to helping the blacks become the most powerful, most educated and wealthiest blacks "ON EARTH". We even have a black president. From your words I can tell you harbor much racist hate. If you want to be at peace then get over it and appreciate who you are.

  • @gusanomarielito I see we won't agree and that is fine. But please don't tell me that the civil rights movement solved everything and that problems exist because of my views. The truth is not always pleasant. But it's always people like you who point the finger at people like me to try to make me look like the criminal. If Whites helped out I appreciate them but it's not about them. What do you want me to do give them a cookie for being a humanitarian and standing up against their own people?

  • @u2hubbard The civil rights movement helped not only blacks but women, hispanics, asians, indians and everybody else that did not fit the ruling class. It did not solve everything but it gave blacks and minorities equal rights and opportunities. My grandparents came in the 60's from Cuba and where discriminated and refused jobs they where overqualified for; and told "we don't hire Cuban refugees". Do you see us complaining now? Let me ask you: Would you be better off in Africa? Answer that.

  • @gusanomarielito Call it complaining if you want. You can accept wrongful things if you want. It obviously doesn't effect you. Whites could treat U anyway they want. Not everyone in the groups you mentioned cares about Blacks. I love all collectives but not everyone of them is equally marginalized by White establishment nor is everyone in those groups a friend to Blacks. As far as the Africa question that is typical American rhetoric. Not seeking to better a situation by compare and contrast.

  • @gusanomarielito Comparing ourselves as a nation with another and saying we should be "Greatful" is typical way to stagnate improvement in this nation, especially for those who need it. And the only ones that want you to think that way are those who are privileged. One of the laws of power is keeping a population or group dependent on you. Law change doesnot equal mindset change and opportunity is never equal. Classism and racism go hand and hand. And both have to end at the sametime.

  • @u2hubbard Those who need it or those who think they're ENTITLED? The MIDDLE CLASS is what sets this country apart from the rest. We are going through a tough time but we will triumph. Exactly what is privileged to you? I only depend on my virtue, my skills and my hard work. I don't depend on Obama and his socialist/communist ideals of big government; and redistributing of wealth, entitlements and free handouts. No two persons are equal! Difference and liberty = good. Equality = bad (robots).

  • @gusanomarielito Look how you contradicted yourself. You said Equality = bad, but yet you professed there's equal opportunity. It's people like you who mess things up for people in America and beyond. You said entitled. Yes I feel every human being is entitled to a dignified standard of living and that a government has no purpose if they cannot provide that for all it's citizens. I don't feel the mass amount of capital and resources should be in the hands of the few. If more thought that way.

  • @u2hubbard Yes, liberty exchanged for equality is a very bad thing. Equal opportunity is a good thing for people of virtue; but equality of "wealth distribution" for vultures is a very bad thing. When Obama opened his mouth and first said those words "wealth distribution" that's when the economy tanked. The government cannot provide a standard of living, people provide that, especially people of virtue. The governments jobs is very very limited. There is no government "master plan".

  • @gusanomarielito It's people with your mindset that cuts the middle class out. Bush was the one that messed everything up. Wealth being in the hands of the few goes along with the law of power of keeping the masses dependent on you. The laws of power are not taught in school. Dignified standard of living for all isnot communist mentality but a humanitarian one. Opportunity is not equal because the out come would be equal. People of virtue? So your saying people like you are better than me?

  • @u2hubbard Wealth is insignificant once the situation goes too far. Study your 20th century history. Money does not solve all problems. Wealth goes in cycles and is short-term and powerless against "KNOWLEDGE" which cannot pass down and must be re-learned. Unfortunately the ignorant will always abound. Opportunity is equal and even sometimes warped into vice. Success is particular and most depends on the willingness of the individual participant. Virtue is based on ability and skill, not money.

  • @gusanomarielito And i care nothing for politics any more. Both parties have the same agenda as I found out the hard way. I might not vote in this up coming election. I want to live in a society where I wouldn't have to vote. Ever heard of the venus project or the equal money system. A good combination of a resource based economy and a dignified distribution in the monetary to everyone is what will make any society great. You just go along with making the fourmal less fortunate the victimizer.

  • @u2hubbard The politics that we have her in the US is as good as it gets. Not voting is worse. If you want to live in a society where you don't have to vote then go live in Cuba. fidel and his criminal castro comunist regime will decide what's good for you. They also tried the Venus-like experiment, them and the soviets; and it failed miserably. I'll tell you of another Venus society - Nazis. Great changes take great sacrifice; everyone wants whats great without lifting a finger - not possible.

  • @patriciacarrasco Thank you

  • people need to learn about their history especially hispanics or latinos because most of them are african descent like dominicans, puerto ricans and cubans because you guys are clueless.
