  • What is the difference between coconut oil and MCT oil?

  • @coffeebreak247 Coconut oil (EVCO) has the good Medium Chain Triglycerides AND the not-so-good Long Chain Triglycerides... MCT oil basically has taken out the not-so-good part. Also MCT oil can be made from coconut or palm kernel oil, and MCT oil is generally always liquid, so good for healthy salad dressings, since the EVCO can be a solid or liquid depending on temperature - that can be used in your favor .

  • just want to follow up, i made some yesterday and tried 1 small delight and a strawberry dip and LOST -0.8lb!!! sure helped with my stall. i even sauted my meal with coconut oil....love it so much, but will doing every other day. my ketone this morning up to heavy from trace yesterday. THANK U!~!!

  • Good stuff, I have been on a two day stall and I will see if these do the trick. I will post tomorrow. My ketones only measured a trace today so I will report that as well.

    Well I did break the stall. I was down 1.2 today. Also my ketones went from Trace to 40 (moderate), very impressive. Thanks Delmem

    Could you take this recipe and combine it with the Cinnimon oopsie muffins you made and make like a pie or cobbler? I have not made any variation of the oopsy so i dont know if the apple would cause the mffins to drop too much. Your Ideas?

  • Interesting - feel like exploring ? Could try adding/coating apple cinnamon with the whites, think they'd be pretty flat if you added on top but that might make sort of an apple cinnamon pancake.. If those don't pan out - would just bake the oopsies - and make sort of an apple butter spread to top with.

  • As with most non list foods - should try 1-2 TBSP and see what the scales say the following day. Depends how you react to them. Current feedback - close to 90% do well with EVCO, close to 70% do alright with the mac nuts.

  • I had some macadamian nuts and my ketosis went up from moderate to large however the next morning I weighed myself and gained about 1lb. My abs are flatter did anyone experience this? Did anyone experience a big drop of weight after the initial gain from the nuts?

  • HOLY Mac Nuts Batman! These things are awesome. Gotta admit, while making them, wasn't too sure but they taste perfect on the strawberries and in a cluster with macs.

    So, to add data, I lost a whopping 3.2 pounds after eating both strawberries and clustes. Wife loved em and so did my kids (and that's friggin' hard to find).

    Used stevia, about 7 packets. Melted the coco oil into the powder so it didn't quite hit the consistency of icing. Do you liquify the oil first? Microwave?

  • WHAM ! Ron.

    I usually just work the choc in when the EVCO is the correct consistency. You could warm the oil & fold the choc & sweetener in, then refrigerate until it reaches the thickness you're looking for to dip with, for a smoother mix.

    If you're doing gris or b. sticks - could also try dipping those for choc pretzel type treat.

    To liquify I usually sit near a heat source, too high a heat supposedly starts to break down the "good stuff" within the EVCO.

  • How many of these can you eat and stay under your 500 calorie count?

  • Honestly, I eat them in addition to the 500 cals.

  • Aw, thanks, Tim. I gotta tell ya, you are one creative guy! I wish I had seen this video sooner. Hubby & I are on P2 and the 2nd day of our VLCD and man, are we hungry (always are until the 3-4th day). Those Turtle Clusters are makin our mouths water! I'm gonna go make them now and report back, I got all the ingredients, including the macs!

  • OMG! Those were DEEELUSHOUS!!! We each had one Turtle Ketone Cluster last night, and by the next morning I had lost 2 pounds! And my husband lost 3 pounds! And our ketones were up today big time! So you know we'll be eatin these little puppies every day! Thanks Tim for a great and tasty way to get your MCTs!

  • Ok I made the chocolate mac nut clusters and LOVED them. I had not had a lost in 3 days (21 vldc) and was starving, I made these thinking that if they didn't work at least they wouldn't be that big of a cheat. I ate 2 mid day and wasn't hungry so I skipped dinner. I didn't go to sleep until 1 am tho and by then was starving!! I decided to eat one more so I could get some sleep. (ketone levels were low so I thought this may help) This morning I weighed in this morning with a 2 pound loss

    I'm starting day 12 of vlcd and have been bitching about the lack of oils since day 1. My gut says I'd do well or better with some.  I'm only doing some strawberries for my fruit, no "melba". I'm reading Moderate (80) on my sticks.

    I mentioned fats/oil on hcgdieters yahoo group and (excuse the crudeness) got ripped a new one. I need to find a more forward-thinking group that accepts new research other than from 55 years ago!

  • Most people should do okay with it on phase 2 ... can give a batch a try, check your loss & ketones, if you tolerate it alright go for it.

    Yeah, if they dress as outdated as they think - I'm seeing bobby socks & poodle skirts.

    Bringing the protocol into the 21st century... one covert at a time. lol

  • Wow - those clusters look GOOD.. I take it that 2 a day (even on P2) has helped in ketosis and not adversely affected weight loss? If thats the case, then SIGN ME UP...

  • Hi Terry. Most people do really well with it, guess we'll see what YT'ers think..

    If you're still red lining the ketostix - don't know how you'd tell other than the scales.. If dipping strawberries just add on the chocolate. Shouldn't have to count towards calories as the ketogenic effect should cancel them out.

    Actually - as weird as it might sound, having the chocolate for breakfast should give you the most bang for the buck, have you burning hot all day long.

  • I'll grab some of the nuts tomorrow and make some for Tuesday morning.  Be interesting to see how it works - I'll eat only 2 and see what the results are....

  • Wow - Those tasted GOOD!!!! Just had 1 and will have another just before I get on the road this morning. I'll let you know how my weight goes. My ketosis was a little light this morning, so we'll see how it is tomorrow morning.

  • Ketosis was higher this morning, and dropped 0.8 pounds over the day prior. I had gained 0.2 pounds the day earlier, so hopefully this will help. I'm starting a new batch of HCG Thursday, and I've increased my injection to 200IU and considering the HCG has weakened since mixing I'm hoping that the strength will be back around the 175IU mark. Once I start the new batch I'll go back to 175IU. I LOVE the dark chocolate taste too!!

  • Well, after having 2 of these a day for the last few days, my ketones were up, but it seemed my weight loss went down a bit, so I'm going to stop these for now and make them for snack for P3. That way I can eat more than 2 a day and not worry too much about it.

  • Hi Terry. Sweet while it lasted though, wasn't it ?? lol

    After stabilization - try adding unsweetened coconut flakes - and possibly almonds... low carb Mounds/Almond Joy. Down right amazing how good something with so little calories can taste.
