Giving up is not the option, its hard. Play for fun and enjoy what you play and dont play it for speed as it comes by time. Its like when you first start typing on a keyboard you dont know where the keys are and overtime you get used to it and your typing speed automatically builds up :)

I'm not good at it and I struggled a lot in the beginning. Just start with simple 2-3 string sweeps and try to keep the right hand relaxed.

To add on, just try to take it really slow at first, focus on carrying your pick all the way through, hits the next string. Also focus on synchronizing your left and right hand. Try playing the last three strings of the basic minor/major arpegios...good luck keep shredding
