Thank you so much for posting this! The memories it brings back! I saw Kiri as Fiordiligi at Met TWICE in April 1988. I remember those performances so vividly, especially the way her voice filled the auditorium with warm, shimmery sound on the A at the end of this duet. I will never forget how it sounded as she turned her head to the audience and hit that note. Time has been so kind to that glorious voice (and the lady who possesses it). This is terrific!

Kiri is always discreet, Von Stade obviously is more at home at the MET. The acoustics must be excellent at the MET to hear these singers well. I've heard both Kiri and Von Stade live in Europe and could barely hear them...Of course with microphones and recordings, it's very hard to understand the size of the voice.

It's lovely to see these great singers. Even though they are past their prime now, their voices are still in good shape and this was lovely to hear. Kiri sang at the LA Opera in Vanessa a few years ago and she was excellent. Both of them were in marvelous condition vocally in the 80's and 90's, truly their finest times. But this was charming.

Thanks for sharing, Damekirilover. Their joy in this duet is infectious. This clip was posted before but then disappeared from youtube. Listening to them, I thought, was like tasting some well seasoned wine: long after the glass was drained, the aromour lingered.But now I'm overjoyed to have my glass refilled. Simply fantastic to listen to this clip again.

These two old and dear friends are such fun to watch together. It's great that they're going to be doing some recitals together before Flicka retires next year. Is this Volpe gala program in it's entirety available on DVD? There are some great clips from it posted here, but I'd love to get the whole thing.
