  • Absolutely HORRIBLE music.

  • never exported to the US.....probably due to right hand drive.and the price......woulda made a killing here, like all the English Cars did.

  • @jeepers2655 indeed, especially with a convertible model, its as beautiful as some of the old Jags

  • lol all I'm seeing is money on wheels on that race track. Those are so much money!

  • it looks like a z

  • An utterly beautiful car, thankyou for posting.

  • Did you know about MF10's :

That Sean Connery was too tall to fit behind the wheel ?

That English Celebrity Twiggy had one in Monte-Carlo ?

That some of my friends have one but do not dare to drive it like you do ?

This is "MY TOYOTA IS FANTASTIC" so much !!!!

I went for a RT51 - 1600S because prices are not yet through the roof , spares are easier to find - My RT51 from 11/1966 is an original japanese car that got imported to England by the sole owner before I got it

  • I love these cars and it is amazing to see almost 10% of the production on the same day on a track, the most i have seen on one picture was nine including the original shelby race-cars with bob tacik and a convertible, but this is outstanding as there is one of the 3 world-record cars too

  • this is the mother of the supra, she was a beautiful woman and her children never let her down.. GO TOYOTA!!!

  • やっぱり外国人にはこの美しさはわからないみたい。関越で見た時でびっくりして心臓止まるかと思った・・・

  • 最初のは凄い絵だな。

    圧巻

  • Great video...all those vintage 2000GT's racing......great! I esp. like the green one with the gold rims....so nice! Thanks for the post...the music sucks.

  • unique and original... a classic forever

  • This car was as expensive as a Ferrari Superamerica with hugest V12 Ferrari made at that time....

  • back in the 60s you could buy 2 Porsche 911 S for one 2000GT in Switzerland

  • Well... I think they should bring back ALL of their sports cars... 2000GT (wich was the first true japanese sport car), the Celica (wich was born in 1970, and died in 2006 god knows why), the MR2 (great mid engine car) AND the Supra (wich is, after the new LF-A, toyota's most extraordinary car)

  • toyota makes great cars. they should come back with the supra and 2000gt. but the LFA is one hell of a car right now.

  • Can someone please tell me who made the music played in this video? THanks.

  • i fuckin love 2000gt

  • Only one 2000 toyota spider was made,

It was for the 007 film You only live twice,

and it was in the part where Bond and aki were trying to get away from the bad guys shooting at them with machine guns,

  • I always wondered where datsun got there 240 ideas

  • what was the deal with the cabriolet version back then...did they put that into production originally? There was one in a bond movie..was it privately customised.?

  • That interior is beautiful.... absolutely beautiful

  • I remember when this car first appeared,it was a mavel at the 1968 japanese autoshow in tokyo. twin-cam 32V inline six with webbers. this thing would eat a twin turbo supra for breakfest! it was about as light as a miata, although the concept version was unique to the production models, this thing did 200 mph off the floor of the showroom. in a time when big daddy don garlits was the fist to go over 200mph in a 6 sec dragster.

I'd rather own this car than a bugatti veyron!

  • you do know that this car did 0-60 in 8.4 seconds, with a top speed of 137mph. How does that beat a Twin Turbo Supra? I mean yes i would rather have a 2000 GT rather than a supra, for all it's classic appeal. But performance wise the supra is years ahead for obvious reasons.

  • how can it be?? 32 valves??? in 6cyl? i think you confused it with the 8cyl 32v

  • @34D2234 You're full of BS. An inline six w/32 valves? 5.33 valves per cylinder huh? Look this was a great sports car for it's time but a Miata today would smoke this thing. Oh, it did 200 mph? C'mon...put down the bong! As much as I love the 2000GT, even with enough power this thing would fly apart or become so unstable at 200.....you'd die a violent death. Yes it's a great car but your claims are so stupid, it's ridiculous.

  • @DickLodge68

    200kph is more like it.

  • @48Boxer I hate when old farts supposedly "remember" what did what "back in the day". Facts are facts. Back in the day, I used to smoke most factory '70's cars with my stock '64 Falcon. Well, off the line anyway.....that's a fact. MPH/KPH....whatever. Read what this guy posted, and I'm sure you'll again, he's a moron.

  • What's name of the music this video?

  • Este carro parece o VW SP2 (Brasil 70's).

Se a Toyota reedição esse carro, com as tecnologias de hoje, certamente seria um sucesso de vendas.

  • It's insane to believe that only 60 of these ever made it to North American Shores!

  • I'd say switching tyres/batteries/etc. with modern ones is exempt from this idea (at least partially) since it's something you would have to do anyway.

  • yeah from that point of view keeping it as original as possible would be the best thing for the car.

mhh... man toyota needs to bring this car back. Otherwise nissan is going to crème them in the sales department. with nissans new 370z and the skyline their going to take over the sport car sales department.

  • Well, they don't really have a sports division (unless Lexus counts)...but being the largest manufacturer in teh world, they should try to make one of their sports cars again anyway.

  • true

  • dude toyota makes greates cars

    ae 86 (corolla)

    supras

    lexus 300

    levins

    etc

    and nissan makes dram cars

i'll never drive a skyline or 350-370 i didn't eve like the look of nissans, but... toyotas are other things...

  • Actually, I've come to a conclusion about this car - the front's not necessarily ugly - it's just two cool fronts plastered into one because of those damn popups.

    Either:

    1. Get rid of the popups altogether and redevelop the front lights/grille so the huge lights could also be high-beams when necessary (make the lamp contain both lights or just be able to run at two currents sizes?)

    or

    2. Get rid of the huge bumper lights and put non-flipups in the same shape/spot as the flipups, but bigger.

  • Toyota should really consider bringing this car back with another powerful turbo L6, if they which to stand a chance against the new skyline, and upcoming nsx. i heard the nsx is going to be a high rev fr v10.

  • Toyota doesn't make sports cars anymore. :(

If they did, however, making this the way it's supposed to be (F engine, RWD, turbo, incredibly tiny, etc.), it'd be great.

Really, the main things that need to be fixed in terms of design are just the front end (those lights/popups are horrible) and general trim stuff (the chrome around the front pillars needs to be fixed at the top, removed along the sides).

  • is this the boss car in tokyo xtreme racer zero or itc? or is it a dotson

  • it is a 240z

  • OMG so may of them in one place amazing!

  • It's not looking European to me... btw, This is a very proper sport car that Toyota has ever made.

  • yeah but the price tag on it was its down fall, and the design wasnt even Toyota. if i remember right Suzuki or Yamaha went to Nissan first with the design and it was turn down then Toyota bought it, n after Nissan saw the great success in popularity they made their 240z to compete against it. this is such an awesome car. if i had one, i would swap a 2j or a sw20 and turn it into the beast it deserves to be.

  • It was designed by Yamaha.

And it's a collector car now...they only made 360 or so anyway.

I don't think it'd be fair to turn it into anything because of that. It would be nice if Toyota would make another one, though...

  • i dont know man i say thats your opinion. if i had this car i would not hesitate to drop a 2jz on it. the potential of this car with a 2jz is insane. but i guess keeping that car as original as possible is your thing. i in the other hand would love to be slapping exotic car ass all day long in it.

  • I'm SURE it WOULD rip with an engine swap, it's just that there are just under 400 of these around and that number isn't going to go up, so I feel that a car like this needs to be preserved.

You aren't destroying it at all by swapping the engine, but it still becomes less of the original car than it used to be.

  • あ!このレース知ってますよ!

  • it´s a japanese classic,cool car!

  • Muchas gracias por el video, este mi clásico japones preferido.

  • man they sure dont make em like they used to, back when japanese sports cars really were sports cars

  • come on everybody do the barracuda

  • I have owned some Ferrari's but this car is the most beautiful car in the world!!!!

    Wil van Buuren

  • @itsmelover

Enzo Ferrari himself thought the Jaguar E-type convertible was the most beautiful car in the world. So did most art museums too.

  • looks just like an e type....only it works properly, not the most original design, but simply the pretiest japanese car ever made, so far

  • why don't the foglights ever work?

  • damn that car is beautiful, now think of how fast that thing would be if u dropped a 2jz in it

  • it probably would be fast with a 2jz, but why would u want to ruin a classic like that, the car is fine the way it is.

  • i wouldn't think it would ruin the classic nature of the of the car. by putting a 2jz in there your basically taking one of the prettiest cars ever to come out of japan and putting arguably the best engine ever to come out of japan in there, the 2jz itself is practically a classic in its own right too, not to mention both of them came from toyota too

  • not to also mention that the supra was practically spawn by this car too. in my opinion a 2jz is a most for this car. just think the car deserves to have that swap in it. is like and rb in the 240z.

  • sorry but no, the car was actually designed by Satoru Nozaki, who based the concept on doodles he'd played with in engineering school. Von Goertz was a master designer, but if you look close enough at the 2000GT you soon realise it is like nothing he ever built. The sharp crisp lines are pure japanese...

  • most beautifal car on the planet! fuck the e-type, this IS the godfather of sports cars!

  • Common misconception, Albrecht Goetz actually never had a thing to do with it. It was purely japanese ;)

  • he desined it, after it was abandoned by nizan!

  • I love this car. I have a Datsun 240z (1970) which is also a great car.

Nice music. Could you please tell me what's the name of the first music.

  • a 240 Z OWNER?!! TRAITOR BASTARD GET OUT OF HERE :p COMING on here to steal our th under that we made when yhou rejected it !!

    just kidding :)

  • lol :P Z's are nice but only a facsimile of the 2000GT... Unfortunately a 240Z will probly be as close as i ever come to those 2000GT bodylines... I only count myself lucky to be able to gawk at a local 2000GT WHENEVER i want :) Someone build a kit car!

  • It's from the Ocean's Eleven or Twelve soundtrack.

  • Albrecht Goetz designed it :)

  • OMG yes I wanna stick a red circle decal with stencilled in number and race that thing till my elbows give out.

  • If there was an automotive equivalent to sex.....it would be this car....

  • agree 200%

man i just came and had a triple orgasm!

  • In my opinion Toyota (Yamaha) 2000GT and Nissan/Datsun 240Z are arguably the most beautifully designed cars to ever come out of Japan. Just have a look at the wood grain interior, now cars only have cheap plastic and more cheap plastic everywhere. I don't think we will see another car like this ever from Japan. It's a shame that now cars have all this electronic gizzmo crap and less focus on the design beauty and simplicity. Just look at the new Nissan GT-R...............

  • the only one that would compare to this godess is the toyota supra mkiv. which is its great great great grand child.

  • You mean the one that looks like a catfish?

Mk3 owner, couldn't resist the dig...

    Sorry dude. 2JZGTE forever, though.

  • jelous owner of a car that goes BOOM BOOM and wishes it was as reliable as the 2jz block :p

  • Maybe more like this...

    A 7M joke:

    "Knock, knock..."

    "Who's there?"

    "Rod."

    "Rod who? Aw shit..."

    JZ series forever!

  • LMFAO!!

  • would be nice to c some more incar footage ...

  • would be nice to c some more incar footage ...

  • so what?。。。だから。。。

  • I have a strong feeling that the majority of those cars are replicas. They were incredibly rare and expensive to begin with, I doubt so many would exist today, and be able to congregate in one place.

  • Thats her in Japan silly,If you are a car lover in Japan you have to have one of these no matter the cost. All most all of the 2000 have been restored and are here at home.

  • they only made 368...

  • Sorry but i wanted to say.ALlmost all of the 2000`s have been restored and are here at home. im not the best typer,i see how you could be confused

  • @Panditha666

    Overall 351. :)

  • I for one don't care. I gladly build one of these myself so I could own something as gorgeous and unique as this.

  • replicas? how so>

errr theres one guy who has 18 of them.

  • nice job

  • awesome car =D
