  • Hi j2xa,

Thank you for your post. My dog still has this symptom from time to time. Brought him to vet 4 times in 2 yrs with no new discovery of what is causing this. His heart beat is normal and so are his internal organs. However, non of the vet suggested X-ray. No idea why but he is still healthy, happy and eating well.

  • I know this post is pretty old now but if you still don't have a solution it could be caused by an enlarged heart. This is more common in small breeds

  • my dog has been doing this on and off for over a year as well...does your he hack sometimes too?

  • I know this is pretty old, but my dog has been doing much the same for around a year too. We've also tried allergy medicines, heartworm screening and antibiotics to no avail. No one seems to know what it is....

  • APirateHooker,

thank you so much for your reply. I felt hopeless sometimes seeing my doggy doing that. It's been 1.5 yrs he has been doing this but he is still healthy and energetic. I guess as they get older, it might just be a permanent thing that stays. I hope your doggy is doing well. :)
