Well, I don't know about other atheists, but I am antisexual and asexual (which are two different things, but I'm both). I don't believe in god, but I believe in ethics and morality. Well, religion is not the only thing which says what is moral and what is not. Ethics, traditions, culture, etc also regulate the human behavior. as far as not revealing Himself, it's because that's not how He works, today. We're in stage 3 in His plan. step one was God, ruling directly over, in the Old Testament. step two was Jesus. Ruling from inside. we all know that one best. now He's in step 3, the Holy Spirit, as He rebuilds Earth. You're asking God to bend his plan for you.

He offered Jesus a lot of cool things that God didn't (hmmm throne, or sit on a cloud for eternity...), and invented 'fun'. From what I understand is that when you see a dead bug you dont think it has a soul. The way TRUE Athiests try to live, so many try to have families, try to see the world, and try to enjoy the world while your in it. As a result they feel it makes every moment a bit more meaningful. Of all the claims Christians make about atheists, this is probably the most ridiculous. I mean, HONESTLY, who the hell do they think we are? If I'm an atheist simply to wallow in my own depravity, then I'm doing a damn good job of it studying literature and watching The Lord of the Rings.
I think only the most brainwashed of Christians make this claim, the ones that truly, absolutely could not imagine life without their imaginary friend.

What I'm basically saying is that if this god of yours existed and was "all-loving and just", and he inspired this book full of condoning murderer, rape and slavery, then he's NOT good, thus the bible is not the work of the christian god.
I'm saying that IF the bible were some gods word - then that god is an ignorant asshole, seeing as how inaccurate it is. I conclude, the bible is the word of man alone.

2 Chronicles was during a war. not the definition of "murder," exactly. besides, He was speaking of the people within israel who were preforming herasies (this time i mean herasies) in the middle of the church. idol worshiping, primarily. this was a purging of the holy lands, not of the whole entire Earth. keep it in context. that's important that you do.

Job 9:6 speaks of "pillars" of the earth. There are many passages mentioning the earth's pillars.

Also our friend anglicanian is probably referring to the parts of the bible which explicitly tells jews they can take slaves from the surrounding nations. Its fairly clear that god is fine with his people having slaves providing they arent his followers. In god's eyes you can enslave me without moral consequences.

Well, religion is not the only thing which says what is moral and what is not. Ethics, traditions, culture, etc also regulate the human behavior. Not to mention that every person has his/her own view on any subject. To me sex is immoral, even though there is no god. That's just my standpoint towards human sexuality. "Sex is wrong" - that's what my sense of ethics tells me. I didn't expect you to agree with me anyway.

Funny at points, and yes, i agree that would be insane to forfeit eternity for a small slice. There is a thing though that is called self deception. So it is not that they know it, like the believer knows it. The bible does not make that claim. Also, it shows that this guy doesn't know 2 cents worth about basic biblical teaching if he thinks that satan is a torturer in hell. No, Satan will not rule in hell, he will be punished all the same. well, He has to. He doesn't like it any more than you do. He's very merciful, but He has rules, and because He's fair, and just, he has to enforce those rules, and that's how.
suppose somebody were to commit a felony. could the judge let him go free? no. that wouldn't be fair to all the people who do follow the laws.

If your god were responsible for all life, he's also responsible for the plague bacteria - which killed more than 1/3 of Europe's population in the 1340's. This god is also responsible for Ebola and HIV-viruses, and on and on.
Besides, the odds of being "correct" with so many tens of thousands of gods to choose from, are staggeringly low.
It does seem like all gods were man-made at some point..

going back to the plagues of Egypt, did you know that each of the plagues was a taunt to one of the egyptian idols? for instance, there was a god supposedly for the livestock. *Bam!* all livestock struck dead. sun god (ra?)? *bam!* no more sun. it was a while ago, that i had this study, but it was pretty interesting, because each of thier gods got one.

the bottom line is that the Bible has never been proven wrong, but has proven science wrong on more than one occasion.

A couple of months ago, I asked for any gods to reveal themselves to me, clearly. Nothing has happened so far. Face facts, Christianity is nothing more than another religion out of myriads of others. IF gods made me, I'm sure they wouldn't want me to accept the existence of anything without physical evidence and reasoned logic.
The bible supports slavery and bigotry, to name a few. There's really nothing "good" about it.

as far as not revealing Himself, it's because that's not how He works, today. We're in stage 3 in His plan. step one was God, ruling directly over, in the Old Testament. His voice would come, and speak straight at the people. (he did this to saul, in acts, but He's allowed to bend His plans, a little. He's GOD, after all.)
step two was Jesus. Ruling from inside. we all know that one best. now He's in step 3, the Holy Spirit, as He rebuilds Earth. You're asking God to bend his plan for you.

Great vid! I personally think Satan gets a bad rap. According to the Bible, he gave us conscience when he provided the (freedom of) information about the apple. He offered Jesus a lot of cool things that God didn't (hmmm throne, or sit on a cloud for eternity...), and invented 'fun'. As far as I can see, God was the architect, and Satan was the interior designer. God's just pissed Satan did all the bits people actually like. No I'm not serious, but it's worth considering 8)
