And as for the newspaper, I believe an LCA analysis over time would show that the impacts of an iPad versus the daily needs of a paper (i.e. clear-cutting of forests, removing habitat, using toxic inks, and then dumping much of that in a dump, and recycling only some, creating recycled paper littered with BPA, etc.) are laughable. The phone can't give you video; they're making many one-dimensional arguments

To be honest though, tablets are the future of computing. Computers are getting smaller and more powerful. Imagine in the near future when you have your tablet docked at home to your keyboard and mouse and then pick it up to go to work/school with enough charge to last the entire day. The pad technology also allows typing on the go and usefull internet acess for emails that which the news paper does not.
