@nadiyahz I,m about to replace my GT500 too for a Slostortion. It is worthy? Does the Slostortion has that big sound like the GT500? Please let me know. Thanks!
Nice job Brian - I also like the idea of the seperate volume boost for solos - very usefull - just can't decided between this and the Pinnacle delux - love the tones from that pedal - seems more open than the SLO, while the SLO is punchier - I either need to make up my mind or you need to do a buy one get one free for Christmas!!!!! - either pedal will go great next to my Ecstacy - i am addicted to the tones from that wonderfull box - all the best S.P. from the UK.
I love the idea of the boost being a separate entity, unlike on my Pinnacle Limited. Also the three band eq is perfect as on Plextortion which i also have.
Just ordered SLOstortion..can't wait to hear and play it. Thanks Brian
@divgtrslingr Yes you can, but it won't have the distortion circuit with it. If you compare this to the rest of the range, you are effectively getting a boost circuit for $20.
Also I just want to say sorry I'm coming accross as negative. Obviously its a fantastic distortion pedal, and from what Ive read elsewhere really does capture the sound of a Soldano SLO-100 (never played through one so I couldn't say). I also understand that if you had the boost on the toggle and the channel switch on the stomp you'd still have people moaning they wanted it the other way round. I hope the pedal is a massive success.
Wait, wait, hold it? A guitar player that doesn't see the need for a boost switch? Exactly what planet are you from?... As always it sounds fantastic!
@mike31jmb Let me try and explain, I understand the use of a boost pedal, if this was the first pedal I ever bought then maybe it would be of use, but like I imagine a lot of people pulling the trigger on $200+ boutique pedals, I already own a boost pedal, infact I own two, a stand alone and one on my Empress paraeq. From a personal point of view, changing channels is of much more use to me than boosting the signal, and from what I'm reading on various forums I'm not the only one to think that.
@bobbyatomic The trouble we are having is that no matter where we placed the boost circuit, some people want it elsewhere. We put it in the best place for this pedal and in respect of the market research we did. Most people already have a boost circuit and a distortion circuit, if they buy this they get rid of two pedals and have one. That's the intention...
@guitarpkr76 It,s pointless because it's post distortion, meaning it has doesn't work as a boost should, if you had an actual Soldano SLO-100 you wouldn't put a boost pedal in the loop, you'd put it before the front end of the amp. Also when changing from overdrive to crunch I'm going to have to bend down and flip the toggle, I just think it's a no brainer to use the extra stomp switch as a channel changer.
@bobbyatomic Sorry to hear that Bobby. When I polled our customers, most of them wanted an independent volume booster rather than used as a gain booster. I could have made added another stomp switch for the overdrive/crunch toggle but the box would have been 3 inches wider and an overwhelming majority of our customers sure don't want that. The pedal as it is now was the best solution for our customers - Brian.
@wampcat Look at all the pedals which supposedly have gain boosts, which really don't work unless the main gain is already low (think Satchurator "More", though it is a good sounding pedal anyway). I prefer the method used on the SLO, it's a win in my book!
On another note, I think there is a market for creating knob and switch add-on parts which could make the switch/knob foot useable if need be. However, I'd be worried about a switch or knob not being designed with body weight in mind.
@bobbyatomic This pedal has an isolated booster in order to give your solos, or fills, the volume boost required in a band/live situation. It's not designed to be a two gain stages in one pedal. The boost also works when the pedal is bypassed, so it 's not an internal gain booster or volume booster. If this boost was pre-gain stage, when you are using the pedal at higher gain settings, would make it kinda fuzzy, this boost actually adds gain/volume to the signal, giving the sound a real "lift".
The boost switch seems pretty pointless, I think it would have been put to much better use as the overdrive/crunch selector rather than a toggle. Sorry to say that overall I'm pretty underwelmed.
@bobbyatomic Not pointless if you see it as a volume boost, which is what it really is. Maybe not what you're looking for, but definitely not pointless and pretty usable instead.
@wamcat. How you nail these tones. One
GT 500 replaced. I will make great use
of both circuits as designed. Great
work.

Sounds great. I disagree about the boost switch being pointless. Not sure how that makes sense.
