huang went to stanford.. and still nvidia was founded ASIANS AND AMERICANS. SO that's NOT ALL AMERICAN, why can't everyone just get along instead of arguing why one race is better than the other?
Oh and the United States still holds half of the worlds top super computers anyways, look it up. Lol U.S is far more advanced in computer technology than any other country right now still. Everyone knows we could create a better one that would just eclipse this one, but like I said it's a waste of money. And that chinese computer utlilizes American technology. U.S is top dog in computers and electronics and software now. We have Microsoft, Apple, Intel, Nvidia, ATI. All american companies.
Now China has eclipsed US in computer technolovy. If Us is going to crreate a better one, so would the Chinese. The tide has turned and with their vast number of computer engineers in China, the sky is the limit and even faster supercomputer will be produced, that is a promise.
@TheTrueUSPatriot i'm asian american, so looking from both perspectives, you're obviously biased and thinks that USA is the best country in the world... turns out a lot of people just hate on china because they're next world power... and btw nvidia was founded by an asian born in taiwan... please don't hurt my feelings by saying anything racist :(
@orsonzg Looks like you're the one who is biased just by the very context of your comment. You make it out as if asians are the smartest. And China is not the next world power either and clearly you're uneducated when it comes to the history of Nvidia. Nvidia was founded by an asian, yes, but you're forgetting Chris Malachowsky who was an American Eletrical engineer also found it as well as Curtis Priem and he was an American Computer Scientist. 3 founders total...2 Americans, 1 Asian.
@orsonzg Oh and Jen-Hsun Huang may have been born in Taiwan but he was raised in Oregon and learned all he knows at American Schools. He went to Oregon State University he's now a Taiwanese American, like I said get your facts straight and dont ignorantly assume I'm gonna make a racial comment, I'm not as inane, obtuse and arrogant as you are.
@orsonzg Oh and truth be told, you can say you're asian american, but dont say you're looking from both perspectives, cause you're not otherwise you wouldn't even comment me. Also understand if you are Asian-American and this goes for all the asian americans who helped design our computers. They may be asian ethnic wise, but none the less they're american they were raised in America and taught by Americans, just like Jen-Hsun, Haung. Many asians migrate to america to have an education here.
@TheTrueUSPatriot I'm not saying either country is better. I'm just taking a moderate stance + you're being hypocritical when you call me arrogant by saying I think asians are the smartest. You're just another radical "patriot" who will incessantly argue over why the US is better than every country, even though it's not true. So.. please just shut up ignorant cunt.
This is only 1.4x faster then the United States Cray XT5 supercomputer. And the Cray was launched back in 2007, and was being worked on earlier than that. Pretty sad the chinese can only make theres slightly faster and it was launched close to 2011. On top of that, the chinese computer uses American technoloy, lol like Nvidia...and Intel. If the U.S wanted to though they could blow the chinese out of the water with super computers but they dont want to spend millions just to show off.
Cray computer launched in 2007 was designed by ethnic Chinese computer engineer Dr. Steve Chen. He is now working for Chinese computer research institute in China and more power supercomputer will be created. Sadly with the departure of Dr Chen to China, no computer engineers remain in US is smart enough to come up with more powerful ones.
@TheWaffenssoberst As for you, you're completely wrong, I suggest you recheck your sources. I'm not even gonna tell you who designed the Cray XT4 and the updated XT5, you can find it yourself. Once that is done, then you can come back and correct your mistake. And the Cray was designed by more than one engineer by the way and China has not anywhere near eclipsed U.S in computer technology, once again recheck your sources. U.S holds more than half of the worlds top supercomputers.
@TheWaffenssoberst China is just getting started my friend. U.S is far ahead of any other country in computer technology. Go look up the statistics and facts and stop running your mouth. Lol you and orsonzg are both obviously just biased, and you're most likely asian. If you read the other comments, a majority of the people know the U.S could blow Chinas new computer out of the water, but as we discussed it would be a waste of money.
