I mean, come on...does it get much better than this? Mr. Caldwell used to perform at the Blackstone and the Jazz Showcase in Chicago. I went to see him. This man is awesome.....I bought his first song he ever made and fell in love with his style. He's actually a legend but seems to be underplayed. We Chicagoans love him. Hey!! : )
It may have been 2 summers ago when I got Bobby's first 3 albums and he was all I listened to for a at least a month. I truly enjoy his music. I'm 22 btw. Made a cover of "What You Won't Do For Love" if anyone is interested. Just check out my page
@boomerang905 Agree! It did help to have older siblings who loved jazz-- my friends just needed their musical minds opened up a little (to other than Shaun Cassidy and Leif Garrett : p ). I was blown away, to borrow a phrase from another commenter, by BC's voice and that gorgeous music, still am. He always brings me up. I envy you you got to see him- what an absolute delight that must have been!!
@1axalove Absolutely. I had older siblings as well and they introduced me to more music than my peers may have enjoyed, even though I liked the current music of my time as well. I got introduced to Charlie Parker and all the greats at a very young age, like seven. No joke, so I understand your sophistication in music and it is sophisticated to enjoy something outside your realm of music, for instance. Mr. Caldwell was awesome and so cool and gave his heart to his performances. : )
Go Bobby go. I love ya guy because you are simply a great singer and stylist. What You Won't Do For Love got me hooked on you. I hope you do the Jazz Showcase again in Chi-town. That's where I saw you last. Heyyyyy. Love it and thanks for the upload ; ) Heyyyy again......
He made the original, 'What You Won't Do for Love." That is one of the most remade songs in music history. I had an opportunity to see him in concert, he was just as good, if not better in person. He did some jazz classics and just went away. I'm so glad this was posted. Glad to know Bobby can inspire a new generation of music lovers! I have been a fan of his music over 30 years now.
This is simply my favorite track from this supreme jazz/R&B crooner, one of the finest R&B tracks from 1980, and arguably, of the entire decade of the 80's, timeless music...
Genius songwriter.

@1axalove You were rather smart at 13. Good, clean and meaningful tunes don't really have an age bracket! LOL : )
