All vtec is "variable valve timing electronic control". If the computer in your car isn't set up for it, then the effect it has drastically changes.

engine light is on because of the swap. vtec should still work but if it's the stock b20 vtec head it ddoesn't crack hard cause it came in the CRV. he needs a b16 or b18 vtec head to really make use of the motor

@kbeatz1001 stock b20 VTEC head? no b20 comes stock, with VTEC. he is driving an Si, which comes with a b16a2, so im sure hes using his old b16 head with the b20 block. and sometimes, you wont hear VTEC when CEL is on. depends on the problem the motor is having though. being low on oil can cause you not to hear VTEC as well. like many other things.

You take a b20 block (built preferably) and you mate it with a vtec head (b16/b18). Also you will need a conversion kit. This SI is pretty horrible though, a stock B20 would pull harder.

it dosn't cost to much. and revving dosn't mean nothing either or do nothing special. gears is what matters. you can still rev a chevy about 6500 rpm's no problem. and if you get the right kind of valve springs and ratios you can rev them over 8000 RPM's so really you are wrong. it depends on how you build your engine.

Actually that was pretty good even pull. It looks slow but I wouldnt doubt that this car would be good for either mid to low 15's or since it looks like your driving skills are good. Those are either very fast lift shifts or really good powershifting.

Apparently its not fast you chode because it didn't pop v. It has no tune.., a b20 alone has enough torque to spin through 1rst and logically if it had a "B16 port head cams" with a proper tune vtec would pop way harder and spin through 1rst, 2nd and atleast chirp 3rd because of the large displacement and trq curve of the b20.
