  • @GeeksvilleStudios Your welcome.

  • using the select or elite

if you convert all the points to dcc, can you put the power track in a siding and run a loco on a different part of the layout when the point is closed ?

  • @kylewilliams1000 You would have to make the points live, or use electrfrog type points such as those by peco etc. I'd suggest putting the power track on the main circuit, & then running a power feed from that to the siding.

  • @ay76 okay thanks :)

  • hi, i have a bachmann class 66 dcc sound loco, and i changed the loco adress but for some reason i have to be on 03 to drive the train and 04 to activate the sound? it didnt seem to change it both over

  • @infernodood3 mmmmm...... not sure what's gone off there. Put the loco on your programing track, & get the DCC controller to read back it's address CV (if your DCC controller allows you to read CV's??). Recall up the address it shows & reprogram it to the one you want. Other wise do a decoder reset, this will take it back to all settings as you'd of 1st got it. A case of then reprograming the loco address again.

  • are all functions which come with digital sound locos permissible to function on the Elite?

  • @chefblanc Depends how many functions the loco your using has. The Elite currently has 13 functions (that's including function 0). Having talked with Hornby this past weekend, the number of functions is going to be increased up to 24. So they'll be a software / firmware download update coming in due course. Where after any ones coming from the factory will have the 24 functions pre-installed.

  • do standerd power clips work with dcc

  • @modellerman Yes, as seen in this video clip (to the left of the Elite unit). Cheers.

  • well done the Hornby channel faved this :)

  • Yes, it was the 1st video they faved!! :-) Cheers.

  • what i=does that rthing do exactly

  • It's Hornby's DCC (digital Comand Control) controller. What it does is a part from run / control the trains, also allows you to program / change the settings on how your model loco's run etc. So you can do many things like set how fast the train accelerates, decelerate etc . Really opens up a whole new way to run your model railway. Cheers.

  • Do you have to have a programing track when you re-write their address?

  • You can program the loco's on the layout, but you can do it on the programing track, as seen here. I would recommend having a programming track though. cheers.

  • i would really like an elite, but the pricing limits me to a select which is still a bit pricey. good video.

  • Thank you. Have a shop around for the best prices. I've seen some Elite's go for £96 brand new. I'm sure i've seen a Select go for around £49 brand new, can't recall which shop it was. Cheers.

  • Good Video.

  • Thank you, hope it's been of help. Cheers.

  • Yeah, cheers.

  • Iain, does the oco address fill in from the back to the front or vice-versa? cheers theese vids are the best, hope the next set of parts will be filmed as none else has such fine quality on their vids as you! Ive watched the series like 50 times! So control knob 2 does the exact same as one, even in the menus? just remember that when I read the on-line manual it said something about that knob 1 is used for the menus and stuff.

  • When you fill in the loco address just type in the number or rotate either knob 1 or 2 (to scroll through the numbers). So if you say type twelve it'll just move the number 1 to the next column as you type in the number twelve.I'll do any video showing a loco been given a higher number address than 9.Control knob 2 like you say does the same as knob 1. In the hand book menu it uses knob one just as a example, but you can of course use knob two as well. Many thanks for kind comments, cheers.

  • hi Iain,

What does knob number 2 do?

    Thanks

  • It does the same as knob number 1. It allows you to have direct control over two loco's whilst the rest that are running, run a t the speed you set them at before calling up another loco.Cheers.

  • can non DCC locos be run on the same layout

  • yes as address number 0.If you have a non DCC loco stood for any length of time on a DCC layout make sure you isolate that section of track to prevent the motor burning out.Cheers.

  • can u run dcc loco's on non dcc layouts?

  • Yes.Cheers.

  • Nice! I'm hoping for the East Coast Pullman DCC set for Xmas, and this will be useful when I get more trains, and upgrade to the Elite!

  • Many thanks.I hope this has helped you. Feel free to ask any more questions & I'll do my best to answer them.Cheers.

  • wow, did you make it in the middle of the night?! look at the time, 00:09! cheers, just wondering, you know in part 1 where you show the functions, could you make a vid of doing them on the elite?

  • 00:09 is how long the Elite had been switched on(this was filmed pretty late though). You can set it as the clock in real time or as a speeded up clock up to about 10X faster.Yes will do a video of the functions for you...now then where's me camera?? Cheers

  • Many thanks mate.More videos in this series to come.Cheers
