  • Two dates, and they both loved the food. And to top it off, this is the sort of East Asian cooking, that i love. Thank you so much, Lila....you have nothing but enhanced my need, for oriental food. Thank you. :)

  • @ArachnusPorkus Thank you so much for writing this - this is so nice - I'm so glad your dates loved the food - Thank you :)

  • Hi Lila, :)

Here's the thing. I'm Indian...and i'm used to very spicy, religiously conservative food - no pork, ham, beef. Nothing!

But frankly, i adore Chinese food, and have been to pretty much every 'so-called' Chinese restaurant, in the state, and have always been terribly disappointed...what with, the Indianising of every single dish.

I tried your Mongolin Chicken, Siu Mai (i used prawn, because shrimp's not available here) and Beef with Mixed Veggies. They turned out, brilliantly...

  • @EarWaxGirl Thank you :)

  • They look great Lila , and I like the greens with them also .

  • @bowhunter2439 Thank you :)

  • these look incredibly juicy and moist Lila!! love it!!

  • @TheSquishyMonster Thank you :)

  • Hi I am wondering if you could do a tutorial on deep frying and things that one should be careful of? I have never attempted deep frying and I have heard scary stories about the safety involved. If possible could you show the Chinese way of deep frying (not with a deep fryer or candy thermometer). I would love to try your recipes that involve deep frying that I have always been prevented from making because I don't know how to deep fry. Thanks!

  • @schweetheartmonkee Hi - That is a good idea - I will put this on my list of videos to do. Thank you so much for the suggestion :)

  • @TheAdmiralsemmes Thank you :)

  • Great recipe Lila. Thanks for sharing this authentic recipe. Do you ground your own chicken/pork or buy it readymade? What kind of wine did you use? Where can i get it from? I love using bok choy in my stir-fries, would be trying it in this recipe in certainly a different way..Hope you have a wonderful CNY..and yes would love to see some more cny recipes !

  • @eateastIndian I usually buy ground chicken and pork already made and the wine that I use is Shao hsing wine, the brand is Emperor and you can usually find it in most Asian grocery stores. Thank you so much for the comment :)

  • Well now Im hungry again thanks Lila....:-)

  • @Allen2045 Thank you Paula :)

  • Pause it, play it again, then press 5.

    Balls.

    Oh, and this looks tasty.

  • @hootypatootie Thank you :)

  • Oh Lila I love this one. I had it many years ago. I was just thinking about it recently and was wondering how it was made. I remembered that someone told me the bok choy leaves were meant to symbolize a lions mane and the balls were the lion's head. Thanks for posting this one. It brings back some good memories for me. They look fantastic.

  • @MrEZCooking lol! Thank you :)

  • This looks awesome. I'd like to know why it is called "Lions Head".

  • @1964Yojimbo It's called Lion's head because the meatballs looks like the head of the lion while the cabbage or bok choy looks like the lion's main :)
