  • Sorry that I have never got around to uploading a new video - time has just gotten away from me!

Cooper is doing FANTASTIC, in 2010 he competed in two pony club ODEs (grade 4) for two top 10 finishes, won the prelim dressage & came 3rd in the novice dressage at our pony club zone finals and then went on to compete at the Pony Club state Champs to be part of the prelim team which placed 2nd as well as winning ribbons in the state gymkhana! He also went on a 5 hour trail ride!

  • I hope your horse is doing well, you brought tears to this 51 year old tough guys eyes, when I saw his injuries...

  • He is so pretty..

He looks like my horse, long and lanky =) how tall is he?

So happy he is ok now..

  • @nowhereangel89 He is about 16.2hh!

  • @nowhereangel89 He is about 16.1hh!

  • ive noticed that wen they cut themselves on the bac, they dont bleed like gushing..or else he may have died, or did u apply pressure to stop then clean, wen my mare need stitches to her back leg, she didnt bleed hardly, none dripped down her leg and none was in her stall, and it was big laceration, enuf for 40+ stitches, but shes good and im glad cooper is okay

  • @tmustang94 The lady who runs the agistment centre put compression bandages on all his legs. By the time we drove up there the vet had already taken them off and was inspecting him and starting treatment. He was lucky that he got first aid quickly and that our vet drives very fast!

  • amazing!

  • his back legs looked the worse. ugh. i hate that for him, must of hurt..

  • Aww. how is he now.?!

    Hope he is okay!

  • hey.. i have seen the affects of cattle grids my paint axle foley was gettin chased by dingos or got scared by wild pigs on the farm. he ended up jumping the grid he got stuck and ripped all the skin and muscle off his back leg were the ankle joint is and his other leg had more damage. it took him about 6 months to heal but his completely fine. i couldnt stand it i had to dress it every day- 2 days. i was the only one that he would let near them. hope he is all well.he looks stunning

  • @ThEgUrLtHeYcAlLbItCh Sounds like a similar injury! Our other horses have been around cattle grids for years and understand them but he had obviously never seen one before. He actually got out of his paddock somewhere else (over the fence we think) and was trying to get back into the property via the driveway :(

  • cooper is a very good looking horse. he is well cared for. those injuries are bad but at least he is still his goofy self.

  • aww its a good thing he can walk and everything.. !! hope he has a full recovery! hes adorablee !!

  • OUCH! hope he gets better soon :D

  • Yeah i know but these things hapen it's life although i am upset i have to get over the fact that he is gone R.I.P Buddy

  • Hi All and Thank You,

Cooper is out paddock at the moment, he will stay out there for a few months to (hopefully) finish off his recovery!

I have ridden him and he appears sound, he does however have a funny movement with his leg which is rather lumpy and swollen looking.

Hopefully he continues to recover well and will stay sound for a pleasure riding mount :)

  • My pony buddy had to be put down because he got stuck in a cattle grid and well you can quess what happened next.... Is cooper ok now

  • Aww that's really sad. Cooper was very lucky all things considered. Cooper is very happy even if his leg looks pretty funny and he'll never be able to compete or anything :)

  • you have a very strong horse to be able to handle that

  • Omg that is horrible! I winced when the video showed the picture of his front leg where you could see the bone. Poor boy. =[

Also, (I feel kinda stupid asking this) what's a cattle grid?

  • OMG im sooooooo sorry that happend to ur horse. my horse go a tiny cut and i felt bad. i hope he gats better =)

  • Sorry to hear that you and Cooper had a set back,Ryazan is fully recoved now just a little hair to grow back, Leg wounds can be tricky, here's hoping for the best for you and Cooper..Get well soon Cooper :)

  • Hey guys, Cooper is still battling away. He went out paddock but the wound on his hind leg burst open again (obviously something bad in there). H e is coming home again for the vet to have another look at. He is still his usual self, and before being turned out he was being ridden at walk and trot (he even broke into the canter himself at one stage!).

Still a way to go, it's been 5 months now =( But we're hopeful!

  • It is great to hear that he is doing so well. Even being hurt, in the video, he still looks quite happy, he did not even put his ears down.

It seems like a cheerfull chap!

Could you make some photo's about how he is now?

  • Poor Cooper! Is he getting better now?

  • Poor Cooper. We know exactly what he and all of you have been through our horse Ryazan did a similar thing with a fence, but his front leg's were bandaged just like your boy's back leg's.Keep up the good work.

  • i clenched my teeth so tight when i saw the bone, omg i hate to be in your situation, how stressful for the horse and you! i hope he is doing fine now!!!!!!!!!

  • poor baby i know its bad, but i have honestly seen worse! way worse, sad i know. Your taking such good care of him....you should be proud!

  • Thank you! A lot of people (including the vet) have been telling me horror-stories-turned-happy-endings which is hopeful =)

He's not in my good books at the moment...I had to come home early from my own birthday party so that I could tend him! >=( I joke, I joke =P He's an angel.

I will get around to taking the camera up the stables and getting some updated footage, I really, really will! Someday! =P

  • Don't you post on FHOTD?

I am so sorry that he got injured and very glad he has you to take care of him! I hope he recovers real soon!

  • Yes I do! ;)

    Thank you!

Well, I have a new horse in the stables and Cooper has shown that he is BOSS by biting him over the fence and threatening to kick him =P Plus he cantered up to me today to get his treats, so he is obviously feeling better =)

I'll have to do a "Part Two" with more recent photos and footage ;)

  • I am glad that he is doing much better!

  • I hope you dont still force this poor

horse to compete after injuring it like

    this. Poor Cooper.

  • Yes, he is a poor man! Very silly for getting himself stuck in the first place heh. No, that video is from before his injury, and our vet believes he'll make a full recovery. Thank you =)

  • Hey little Siss, tell Cooper I said, "Chicks Dig Scars."

P.S. Geoge Strait rocks - Yeah, you know it!!!

    ;-)

  • Oh my goodness your heart must have dropped into your feet when you saw this!!!! :>O What an awful ordeal for both Cooper & you. I must say by looking @ this video Cooper has been impeccably good while being treated which is a credit to his temperament. I hope all goes well & he recovers well with no setbacks. Best of luck & biiiiiiig hugs Cooper. :>))

  • Thank you =) On the phone the agistment lady asked for my mum and I just asked "Which one is it?" I could tell from her voice...we had three horses there...yes he has a WONDERFUl temperament!!! I really think he is the sweetest and quietest horse I've owned. He is off injections/bute now and much happier not to be so poked and prodded all the time!
