Germans were pretty well off long before the social democrats. I would credit Bismarck more on the german social reforms than Bebel and the others. You also have to remember that social democrats voted for WW1 under the illusion that it would be a quick war. True. There were the Katorgas in tsarist Russia but they were not as brutal as the Gulags. Social democracy is probaly the weakest form of government there is because unlike communists and fascists the social democrats are willing to dance of the tune of corporate leaders for a small fee. Germans were pretty well off long before the social democrats. I would credit Bismarck more on the german social reforms than Bebel and the others. You also have to remember that social democrats voted for WW1 under the illusion that it would be a quick war. This drove alot of the german working class to either extreme right or left especially at the end of the war.

As for colonialism British India was million times better than let say Lenin's or Stalin's Ukraine and Hitler's Austria. As all systems, the ex-Communist countries had positive virtues not just negative ones. Even as a very young man, I was apalled that after 1989 we did not keep those attributes of socialism that were proven good!
Also there were serious differences in living standards and economics for example in Hungary pre-1956 during the Stalinist decade, and after 1956. Still, even with its numerous positive aspects, the after-56 Kádár-system was unacceptable for us because of 1956.

I believe in religious freedom, all people should have the right to follow whatever religion, or to be atheist if so inclined.
What I disapproved of was the Communist regimes persecuting Christianity and enforcing atheism.
As per the sinners, as far as I understand, they have to honestly repent their sins and try to make amends, otherwise they're hell-bound, belief in God or no. But we can't be sure about the afterlife: the important thing is how we live, IMO

Because if you die, soon as your soul stands before God waiting for judgement, you will see and know that God exists. That means you will start believe in Him, then and there. I'd say national socialism would be the best system, with a healthy mix of private ownership (like farmers, etc), community ownership (like workers councils) and state ownership, backed with a strong army. Where the strategic industries are nationalised, and the basis of wealth is work and not financial capital.

Perhaps if the Tsarist regime had not been so brutal then this would not have happened. True. There were the Katorgas in tsarist Russia but they were not as brutal as the Gulags. Cossacks on the other hand were very brutal and russians did alot of bad things to different ethnich groups like jews, armenians or the georgians but there was no need to revenge it. Most of those people who commited the brutalities probaly died anyway in WW1. I can understand how painful it must have been for a jew or a georgian to see a cossack kill their relatives but still.

Of course there will be some greed and some money being taken but I am pretty sure if a working class dominates the state then they will be able to solve the problem really quick. As for how it can run a society maybe you havent thought about it but maybe people will push harder so they can have a better living.
