But where your argument is flawed is; Christian scripture demands respect for all ideas and respect. It was the corruption of the Church in the Middle Ages that repressed innovation, not Christianity itself. Unfortunately, evolution is NOT fact. It does have substantial evidence to support it BUT creationism does also. Also, not all biologists agree on evolution, not even close. THAT is why both theories should be taught. Explain to me how evolution is a fact when carbon dating is inaccurate, when the apparent trail of fossils is out of order and on completely different landmasses. Or how we have NO apparent vestigial organs, and how Darwin's original studies were flawed.

Also, we teach the Holocaust in schools because it IS historical FACT. It CAN be proven, this is the difference between teaching the Holocaust and evolution. Evolution cannot be proven (at least not yet) but the Holocaust is an actually historical event. And in school we should teach abstinence (instead of the "Stork" claim) instead of safe sex. Statistically when abstinence is taught birth rates, abortions, and STD transfers decrease.

In the US, and especially in my home state of Tennessee, instances of STD infection among 18-25 year olds are up, even though the only sex "education" taught is abstinence only. Also, creationism is a theory just like evolution. Why should evolution (which insultingly claims we came from apes) be taught as fact when it is not? It has not been proven, and neither has creationism. But both have their support. Why should we slant PUBLIC education towards on side? We should be able to have rational lessons that discuss the pros and cons for both theories. Also, our SECULAR nation (good thing) cannot promote a lack of faith over faith (its in the constitution).

But where your argument is flawed is; Christian scripture demands respect for all ideas and respect. It was the corruption of the Church in the Middle Ages that repressed innovation, not Christianity itself. This is the complete opposite of what happened in Medieval Europe. The Church disregarded Scripture to further its own means.

The Renaissance /can/ be attributed to Christianity, because it was the true Christian values of acceptance and freedom that allowed for such innovation. Regardless of the source of any particular discipline or knowledge, the Islamic world preserved, consolidated and transmitted our knowledge about pretty much everything. This is not controversial or disputed, merely fact. Have some graciousness to recognise the contribution of fellow human beings to our collective endeavour.

Ever heard of Algebra, Aldeberan or Alchemy? Islamic mathematicians, astronomers and chemists where responsible for a series of critical advances between the 7th and 14th centuries, while Europe was in the dark ages. This is not zero sum game, just an honourable acknowledgement of the contribution to human advancement of that culture. We would not be as far along as we are without their work.

i honestly believe (and you can completely disagree) that the US government cares about if they nuke middle east kills innocents. I think the government just cares about destroying the oil fields with nukes.

I do disagree. The government is made up of people, many of them decent and honourable. No doubt there are a few individuals like the ones you mention, but they don't have anything like complete control. Things would already be much worse if they did.
