@kougar2439 Technically every character is dead. That's basically from the end of the events of MK Armageddon. Shao Kahn won and claimed the godlike essence of Blaze which leads Raiden to sent a message to his past self in hopes of altering time and preventing it from happening again.

actually think I it was official that Taven won and made everyone stronger than they ever were before and almost everyone slaughtered each other save Shao Kahn and Raiden the latter being beaten and with all his foes dead Kahn could merge the realms with little to no opposition. There were supposedly 4 or 5 people that survived Armageddon official Raiden sending the message back was to stop that ultimate outcome.

@kougar2439 they were all dead, and that was in the retconned future that Raiden is trying to avoid. Those were the events after Armageddon, in which the fighters just fought until they all died. The whole point of the story mode in MK9 is to prevent that outcome.

@DaRi881 Yeah...I don't think no one will hear "Rain", it's just you. When hearing it closely, you'll hear "Ko" and Rain doesn't have that sound of "Ko".

It made sense for the mishap with Kratos-Reiko because it had "O" at the end and it sounded like Krato with no S meaning it was Reiko.

As for Rain, he makes a Cameo in the Stage. Just not in Story.

Interesting. I've heard rumors that they're dropping Kenshi's telekinetic powers in favor of a "swordsman" fighting style. Can anyone confirm this is if it's true or not? If it is, then that's awesome, since Ermac's already got the telekinetic prowess down. I want to see a fighter who uses a sword most of the time, and Kenshi would be perfect for that role in my opinion.

In the original timeline, Kenshi only acquire telekinetic powers, because Ermac teach him, since this timeline everything changed and they probably never met, it would make sense for him not having telekinetic powers.

there are loads of characters seen in mortal kombat story mode that are not in the game and in the levels.

sareena, daegon, kenshi, frost and reiko all fight on the pit level.

skarlet, khameleon (grey female ninja in chapters 1 to 3) and another grey ninja possibly chameleon (chapter 1 to 3) appear in the background of the story levels aswell.
