Personally, I also think the "Never forget where you came from" bit was played over and over not so much because the director tried to drill a connection between violence and Colombia, but because the director was trying to portray an image that keeps coming back to her as a result of her traumatic experience. After these experiences, pieces of the memory play back in one's mind and one can't help it. It's awful; he's trying to show deep the pain manifested itself in her mind.

Colombia is a beautiful country full of kind people.
