if you look at this fight and the fight between dimitrenko and chambers,klitschko fought in a faster paste and did not ware out like the 250 pound dimitrenko and chambers.

im not a "tyson hater" i grew up in his time..i just think that to just assume that klitschko would stand no chance aganst a guy who he would have a 8 inch hight advantage on and a soild 20 pound weight advantage isnt fair...though i will admit, tyson was a more "exciting" fighter...but exciting does not always mean better.

I don't know how you would describe Holme's power. He didn't seem very heavy handed, but it didn't look fun to get hit by him, either. Stiff, I guess. His sparring partners said he was cruel, mean, and extremely competitive. Larry was very smart with foot movement and angles, and his sharp, quick jab would upset anyone's fighting rhythm, at least for a while, in my opinion.
NO it wasn't considered Massive. Its just that at that time the fighters had to go 15 rounds and were expected to be in excellent shape. Most fighters today are just fat. Wlad is in shape and he weighed in at 224 lbs. He's far from massive just tall and long reach.

Yes, I just watched a little while ago, and enjoyed a lot. Thank you for directing me to it. Frazier only lost 4 fights in his career, and the guys he lost to were not to shabby! Every point you make is very easy for me to agree with. The ONLY thing Frazier really has on Mike (besides maybe the left hook) is the way he picked up steam in the later rounds. The Klitschko's DO need to tone down the ring walks, it makes the fight dissappointing.

I used to spar with a very determined former wrestler, and yes, he was strong. But he always would square his stance up too much, and be very pushy with his punches, and always leaning to far foreward. Our trainer claimed that this was a common problem to overcome for wrestlers turned boxers.

I was just a gym rat, participating in just a few amature matches. The best guy from our gym that I sparred with is Carlos Molina, who's currently ranked 21st in the world at 154. It's amazing to me to get in there with a guy you have 50lbs on, and just get your ass slapped all over the ring. Gotta love "real" fighters.

As far as pay days go only the top tier boxers make more than an MMA fighter. Its incredibly difficult to reach the pay days of mayweater or klitsko. For the lower level guys its alot easier to make money in MMA than boxing.
The lower rungs of boxing produce paydays that can get you a few packs of smokes. Don't know about MMA, but low level boxing is NOT worth the beating. You really have to love the sport to be a club fighter.

well actually lewis is 6"5 not 6"7....and I was speaking of tyson in his prime..you can basically discount everything after prison...tyson was slowed down..didnt work as hard in the gym (weightlifting to look good..not as much running) but lewis did handle tyson, which might lead one to say klitschko would do the same.but again..that depends on if you think klitschko at his best is as good as lewis (i think he is) but also..again..tyson was shot by the time he fought lewis

I think that he would get K.O.'d again by a well-prepared Brewster. I also think that Povetkin has the tools to beat him, but I'm not salivating over the idea of another former U.S.S.R. fighter holding a H.W. title.
His fights are absolute shit-fests of boring one two combinations and excessive holding on for dear life. I like boxing, not wresting. Steward passed on the boring, technical, hit-and-hold defense that Lewis mastered late and made him a complete bore.

I don't know how you would describe Holme's power. He didn't seem very heavy handed, but it didn't look fun to get hit by him, either. Stiff, I guess. His sparring partners said he was cruel, mean, and extremely competitive. Larry was very smart with foot movement and angles, and his sharp, quick jab would upset anyone's fighting rhythm, at least for a while, in my opinion.

NO it wasn't considered Massive. Its just that at that time the fighters had to go 15 rounds and were expected to be in excellent shape. Most fighters today are just fat. Wlad is in shape and he weighed in at 224 lbs. He's far from massive just tall and long reach.

The guy was an excellent boxer, who had a short, yet explosive prime. Like Joe Frazier, but with a few more dramatic looking Ko's. My point is that he seemed to have problems with tall, strong heavywieghts, and a prime Lewis would've been a very valid contender against Mike on his best day. That is my opinion, not a fact.

O.K. That makes more sense. I think putting Tyson in the same sentence as Frazier is reasonable. Odd how Frazier was always owned by Foreman. It goes to show how much styles make fights. I do think that the early Tyson had more skills than Frazier, though. With that less than predictable head movement and the great combos, he was a force to be reckoned with. You haven't downloaded that documentary yet, have you? It's worth the time.

Yes, I just watched a little while ago, and enjoyed a lot. Thank you for directing me to it. Frazier only lost 4 fights in his career, and the guys he lost to were not to shabby! Every point you make is very easy for me to agree with. The ONLY thing Frazier really has on Mike (besides maybe the left hook) is the way he picked up steam in the later rounds. The Klitschko's DO need to tone down the ring walks, it makes the fight dissappointing.

Yeah, I strangely forgot about Frazier's classic left hook. Ali simply forgot to duck. LOL And his endurance - or ability to recoup energy late - was pretty stunning, too. There are parallels between the two fighters head movements, as well. Perhaps Frazier was the better, more well-rounded fighter.
I do know that there was a short time period where Tyson seemed like he would go down in history as the greatest H.W., but that never happened.

Yes, as a boy in America(born in 1979), I really do remember Tyson hysteria well. He was on the cover of everything, even cereal boxes. This game needs a guy like that again, to generate the big fights and big interest. Because of Wlads resume, he would be a great "other guy" for a mega fight with someone like that, but where is the young exciting heavyweights? Mike just let it all go away on him, which is a shame for fans, but, hey, its his life, he can do what he wants I guess.

It takes a considerable amount of time to develop good ground skills. You can't learn them in a week. Even if you had the genes of Royce Gracie, it would still take a considerable amount of time.
I found it difficult to develop good ground skills and I'm above average athletically. No, not athletically gifted, but definitely above average. You don't learn these things quickly, and its foolish to say otherwise.

yea..i remember hearing how tito oritiz would spar with Frando vargas..now, of course, tito was never a stand up striker..but he did have about 50 plus pounds on vargas..and vargas wasnt even the best at his weight..still...from what i have heard tito would get dominated bad. thats why i think a top level boxer would stand a pretty good chance.....if a guy does try to shoot on wlad..i think his reflexes are good enough that he would stand a decent shot of steeping back and then catching the guy

Shannon Briggs just talked big to try to get a payday. If he really thought he was the best, he could've been out there mopping up contenders and forcing a title fight, but instead he sits back and calls Wlad a "Homo", and waited for a contract. Yeah, Briggs' heart and chronic asthma problem always made him a stepping stone for up and coming fighters. His mouth certainly didn't serve him well either.
Mercer was a real disappointment, but he did get screwed out of a lot of decisions. I never caught the fight with the M.M.A. goof. Have to see if I can find it on shittube.

well mercer lost to kimbo in mma..some think he threw the fight..i just think kimbo trained in grappling..and mercer didnt at all..and kimbo got him..but he beat up tim silva, who is a former UFC champion of not to long ago..knocked him out in like 9 seconds..that was just a week or so ago.

i have heard mercer hasnt really done in training in years..goes in and spars a few times a week and thats it....well kimbo is a big strong guy...and actually as a younger man had a shot at playing in the NFL..and he had worked with that bas rutten for a while at grappling....mercer didnt do a damn bit of training...i doubt he even touched a weight..still..i wouldnt even be suprised if mercer threw that fight...just because you never know with mercer.

I remember watching that shit-show they had on last weekend at a friends' house: Sanchez and Guida. These jackasses really need to learn how to box. It's an absolute joke. Sanchez has shite boxing skills and Guida's are even worse.
Being raised in a home where there was always a boxing match on, its difficult to sit through crap like that. Yes, they are cardio-machines, but learn how to throw a damn jab for Chr*&^' sake! It would make the sport a lot more interesting to boxing fans.

I think the most compelling match Either Klitschko has been in in recent years was Wlad Vs. Peter. Unless I'm missing one, everything else has been pretty shitty. Vitaly used to have matches that were fun to watch(Danny Williams, Corrie Sanders, Kirk Johnson, Lennox Lewis), but his two comeback fights (Peter, Gomez) look just like Wladimir. Its gonna take some kinda fighter to make these guys REALLY fight. I'll wake you up when that happens.

I used to spar with a very determined former wrestler, and yes, he was strong. But he always would square his stance up too much, and be very pushy with his punches, and always leaning to far foreward. Our trainer claimed that this was a common problem to overcome for wrestlers turned boxers.

true dan...i boxed with a decent college wreslter once...same thing..everytime he would go to throw i would see he pull the arm back..and i would just snap my jab in his face...maybe in a street fight he would have kicked my ass..but in boxing it was just totally one sided...and im not a great boxer....also i sparred with with Carlton haslrig...he was much bigger and hard to deal with..still..punches where very pushy..and slow....

I was just a gym rat, participating in just a few amature matches. The best guy from our gym that I sparred with is Carlos Molina, who's currently ranked 21st in the world at 154. It's amazing to me to get in there with a guy you have 50lbs on, and just get your ass slapped all over the ring. Gotta love "real" fighters.

I remember a old UFC where some second rate boxer fought some grapples guy...(i think the guy who actually won UFC 3 when gracie and kimbo where both to hurt to go on...) anyhow..the guy got taken down..but actually got back to his feet with just raw strength natural athletic ablity and what bit of leverage knoweldge you do get from boxing (clinches and such) i just think..that if that Tim Sliva could be a worse..wlad would be a hell of a force...

As far as pay days go only the top tier boxers make more than an MMA fighter. Its incredibly difficult to reach the pay days of mayweater or klitsko. For the lower level guys its alot easier to make money in MMA than boxing.

The lower rungs of boxing produce paydays that can get you a few packs of smokes. Don't know about MMA, but low level boxing is NOT worth the beating. You really have to love the sport to be a club fighter.

well thats true...but im mma..they make very little..even the best mma fightes..back when liddel and jackson fought..they had huge pay per view numbers..and i remember hearing it bragged how it was the first 1,000,000 dollar pay day.....lol..and i thought..damn tunney dempsey did that 80 years ago....but my point was...a top pro...doesnt have a reason to go into mma..when they make so little money..hence..you cant really say how a elite level boxer..with some cross training would do in mma...
