  • beautiful, I had to pause the video to write this.

  • fuck you green peace. i love coal

  • I have been in the cab of both of those locomotives, the 765 is housed just about 7 miles from where i live, in Fort Wayne Indiana, When i moved to Fort Wayne in 1983, the 765 was sitting in a park, just rusting away, It wasnt long after they took her out to newhaven In, just east of Fort Wayne, and restorded her.

  • I hate to debate you but according to the allen county rail road historical socity, they put her into running order for the rails by 1979 they started work back in 1975 or so to get her running again.

I have seen her as you can see from my videos.

  • Interesting that with all of the soot generated during the 'Age of Steam', the world temperatures were steadily getting 'colder'. The 1960's (last of steam) saw some of the really cold winters across the US Midwest. So cold in fact, that the 'Scientists' predicted a return to the Ice Age. After the diesels and 'cleaner' energy, the temps started warming. Now if 'Cause and Effect' were a 'proven' scientific rule in All equations, the return to dirty old Steam would be embraced by the public.

  • Nice an environmental friendly trains emitting thick black smoke. Thought that this type of trains are only found in India, Pakistan, Burma, Bangladesh, China and most countries in the African continents including Latin America and some parts of Europe?

  • i like the black firebox of 765 but i like 1225 better

  • very nice video, good job.

  • would this ever happen again?!!!!!!!!

  • to tell u the truth, a steam train is every eco friendly!!! If u burn the coal just right its better than diesel!!!! Reason why you see these videos of steam trains burning the coal so dark is because of the effect. Who wants to see a steam train with white puffs, big dark smoke looks mean!!!!

  • We have 200 years of coal left in resources here in the states you never know if there will be a resurgence in usage in trains again even if they use clean coal and use turbine instead.

  • Now imagine a busy rail yard with nothing but steam engines. Enviromentalists would have a heart attack now days. =)

Now if they could make make a regular piston engine work lkie the piston set up on a steam engine, power in both derections?

My father was so lucky as a child, well lucky and not lucky, but him, his brother would sit abover the entrance/exit of the tunnels up in eel ruck CA. And even got stuck in a tunnel once. He just turned 72 and still remembers being in that tunnel

  • @crazy7997 That thick black smoke will give you a good idea of why New York and some other passenger stations banned steam locomotives in their terminal. The smoke often got so thick that visibility was reduced to the point that collisions occurred, resulting in deaths. As a result, electric switching engines were put to use, pulling the passenger cars in from a transfer siding outside of town. Cleveland had such a transfer point on the New York Central main line called Linndale.

  • @crazy7997 if the fireman and eigneer are doing things properly, smoke wouldnt be an issue as there would be no smoke.

And it look like the lead eginear shoved the water to the boiler at the beg. for the photo op. And I bet you drove like a maniac to keep on getting in front of the train for these good video shots. I know I have.

  • Stunning images, excellent camera work and a sheer joy to watch...Thanks...Bob

  • Totally awesome

  • Is this realy a video that you created? If so, how much are they and could i get one?

  • Both of these engines were built by the Lima Locomotive Works. The 1225 in 1941 and the 765 in 1944.
