I was at a reunion last week and met someone who was with Bloom when he complained about cramps below his knee. They told him he had DVT and to get to a doctor right away. He ignored them and just took some aspirin. So it was his own fault. I didn't know that until now.
I grew to enjoy watching him as he worked his way up in NBC. I was doing traffic for the local NBC affiliate and the producer and I followed him through his time in Iraq. I remember the day his passing was announced. I had called my friend at NBC as I was checking in to office and he sounded "upset" for want of a better word. I asked him what was up, and he said he couldn't say... Then Bloom's death was announced as the weekend Today show started. He died doing what he loved to do...
19yrs ago in Miami fl I had the honor of having David Bloom in the delivery room While I gave birth to my son. My husband was in Iraq at the time. Oh what a hilarious memory I have of this day...Miss you David Bloom.
I've really missed David Bloom's voice over the years. He was such a standout journalist. I enjoyed watching his work and his rise in the ranks. It was such a shame that he was taken at the pinnacle of his success and while his children were in their tender years. I'll always remember him. RIP David Bloom.
Well when you dont Report Real News i dont care much for a guy like David Bloom Who only showed one side of the War never covered who died on the Iraqi side and made up words like Collateral Damage AS a America i would not like any News channal calling our Troops Collateral Damage
SO
for Fake News and who make storys up can go to Hell
when the news came on and said he had died my heart just sank. I had a lot of admiration for him. He was smart and knew how to deliver the news. What a loss to his family, friends, and the nation.
beautiful family, sad, how a man dies, with family, you as a single man serves and no matter what, you survive the sweet family man dies.. really sad..
He would have been the anchor .. so what we needed... I can't say anything... beautiful family, and guy.. like soldiers who can stay home, but choose to go in harms way... I was single, like veterans thru history, we don't get to choose who makes it..
Melanie and the girls have my thoughts and prayers. David was larger than life. He always brought whatever he did to life and with total professionalism. May he rest in peace! May you, the surviving family, find peace in your hearts!
I enjoyed David's energy in all his reports. My sympathies to his family after losing him so unexpectedly. He was so smart and knowledgeble with every report he did.
