Most of searches contains more than one term. For exemple "South American Soccer Cup 2010". As one is typing the words, Google Instant gives a feedback. It feels like being interrupted before you even had the chance to say what exactly you are looking for. It's terrible. And you guys from Google just set Google Instant as default configuration, so when users set their preferences to regular Google search engine, if they erease their History and Site Preferences, Google Instant gets back.

Yes you can actually. First, make sure you have cookies enabled in your browser. Go to the google homepage and find the Preferences at the top right. Go in the preference and turn off google instant and save your preferences and google instant will be off. If you delete your cookies, Google Instant will turn back on and you'll have to do that again.

How do I get rid of Instant taking over Google searches on my Android cell phone?? Google Instant has ruined surfing online with my cell phone!

This is the DUMBEST thing Google has ever foisted on me.

Using my HTC Android phone online is now very unproductive, Google Instant chronically forces the wrong search keywords into my search bar as I type and spits me into some random, unrelated website I don't even want??!

And here I thought Auto Complete was bad, this is vastly worse, I'm furious!!!!

You CAN turn it off yourself. Go to Search settings via the top-right menu and scroll down a bit. ...But I guess you're the types of users who delete all their cookies on a weekly/ daily basis. Although if you use CCleaner (or a few other automatic/ semi-automatic tools) for that you can just make an exception for the Google cookie ...If you don't find that a horrible concept.

Google instant has put me out of business. I have stores that rank below the fold, and had enough to keep a roof over my head. Now my sales are almost zero. Why bother having search results at all, no none is clicking on anything but #1.

Google does not offer relevant results, just ask any SEO guy. By great effort you get to top ranking by backlinking and publishing, the very definition of 'gamed' results.

As far as search engines rankings go, most (if not all) major search engines rely heavily on backlinking for relevant results. If you want a higher ranking or more visitors you can try using Adwords to get an advertising block on the front page. We did, and our traffic increased big time!

Why is google came up with an instant search service and everyone is like "oh is so revolutionary?" Bing supported this feature for a very long time, and frankly, I find no differences between the accuracy and speed of both search engines. In fact, sometimes bing provides even better results. It is really sad when Microsoft actually invent something no one cares and when google takes that idea every one cheers.

This seems really focused on a major brick wall in net neutrality IMO. If it flies, the top $ wins in every search result typed in, or even partially typed in. The benefit to the end user is finding things faster, but not necessarily showing all the options to allow them to make their own decisions. Google really needs to take a step back and look at the implications rather than the dollar signs of this project.
