Yes!!! The engines are the sweetest music of all! I can't stand the RC videos that have music. I will NEVER share them with friends. It just ruins them.
@siphonicdanox well the cold is not enough to cool down the plane enough to a normal temperature, and the heat is caused by the air friction (air passing by extremely fast)
how is it his original can go the same speed as a full size one that has engines that turn into SCRAM jet motors at speed? not saying it's not quick, but 2.2k mph is the flight speed record...
@shimrra I would imagine it's "scale" speed, more like 220 mph actual speed. This model can't go 2200 mph. Which is the flight speed record they talk about for the actual Blackbird. It's real speed levels is still classified, but it is well beyond 2200.
@Midnight2534 NASA currently operates one of the remaining SR-71's as a research platform. Just as they operate a number of U-2's for the same reason. The CIA operates the remaining Five as they did in the beginning of this aircraft's career.. The older birds are in museums. But, suffer no illusions, If needed, most can be quickly put back into service.
Is it possible to make the range many miles longer by attaching a camera to the front and connecting it to a computer? because I want to fly it through the streets of my city, yeh know, hopefully not having it shot down by the air force
From the video, I'm guessing that you don't need much runway to get airborne. Thanks for the music free video. For the video with music, you should have used a song from The Beatles (you've heard of them, right?) White Album called "Blackbird".
if they were just leds then wouldnt they get burnt to a crisp? i mean this thing obviously has no other means of propulsion than model jet engines ,or turbine engines, not sre if there is a difference, but im sure either one of those would melt the shit out of leds in the place they would need to be mounted, i even think they have model scram jet or ram jet engines too now
xxxsolonly hey man are u a scientist or something, how much money did u spend on this..15,000$? I mean...this is just like a aircraft just little..and aircrafts are millions
Thank you for reposting your video without the music. Listening to these engines is the ONLY soundtrack that is required!
What are the possibilities of fitting a smaller blue ring of LEDs just inside the ring or red to give a more "authentic" afterburner signature? Or does the SR71 just fire red? I dunno!
Amazing! I'm suprised you haven't been bothered by anyone for flying it. My friends and I used to fly 1/4 and 1/3 scale gas & glow planes and we finally got kicked-out by the people in the nearby community because the noise and the aerobatics scared them. I have never flown R/C jets but I love the aerobatic scale airplanes.
@MetalMachine346 I think he meant that the real original SR-71 Blackbird could do over 2200 miles an hour. The SR-71 had a top speed of mach 3.5, which is 3 and a half times the speed of sound. There is no way that the turbines on this RC model could generate enough thrust to allow it to reach anywhere near 2200 mph.
It should work with afterburners on such a small model engine too, no? Maybe you wouldn't get much extra thrust, but it would look cool. It looked cool with those LEDs too, by the way:)
@laxinitup62 work by compressing atmospheric air gathered through the air intake of the engine and using it to create a combustible mix along with the fuel, which is then lit. The rapid expansion of the combustible mix generates thrust and power for the turbine at the same time, which in turn drives the compressor.
@laxinitup62 A modern turbine engine is extremely efficient, and there is still a lot of oxygen available in the exhaust stream. The idea behind an afterburner is to inject fuel directly into the exhaust stream and burn it using this remaining oxygen. This heats and expands the exhaust gases further, and can increase the thrust of a jet engine by 50% or more.
@xxxsolonly Reason why there is lots of oxygen is because most of the jet engines nowadays uses turbofan instead of turbojet, turbofan have a bypass air that bypasses the core of the engine and including the air inside of the core which is only about 25% of it used for actual combustion while the remaining 75% is used for engine cooling, so plenty of oxygen to burn, they simply put a fuel manifold and flame holder after the last turbine stage to make use of this oxygen and create more thrust
@laxinitup62 Actually, what xxxsolony described is the operation of a jet engine. Afterburners are an added feature on most supersonic military jets to allow extra thrust at the cost of an extremely inefficient fuel consumption rate. The principle is basic; since a jet engine's power is limited by the ammount of heat the compressor turbines can take. Therefore, by injecting fuel after the turbines, it increases the pressure and velocity of the mixture. = more power for the jets :)
@brightlights456X INSURANCE =YES. you have to be a member of the AMA (AMA - Academy of Model Aeronautics) to fly at club flying fields and air shows. if you had your own space for an airstrip then no but you would be flying alone and not showin off your cool toy. part of being an AMA member is that you have 1mill in liability coverage in case your model crashes and does property / bodily damage. this twin engine jet powered plane could really do some damage if it malfunctioned.
@brightlights456X yeah they have been around for quite awhile and thats good . they are our main advocate for our hobby and now our hobby is threatened with a bunch of restrictions and hassle due to the terrorist who wanted to load a r/c jet with explosives . im really sick of extremists causing hassle for us regular folks.
