I have a DII National championship medal and competed at that level every year that I played in college, then went on to coach. If any of my players played dirty rugby as exemplified here I would have kicked their asses back to the bench. There are good and bad collegiate teams, and clean and dirty play- but this is definitely not "professional level" throughout the video. I have played both for my county and region at rugby and football and have played and enjoyed both for years but without question it does take a more physically and mentally stronger individual to go through the hammering you take in rugby, you just have to get on with it and play hard. I think you'll find that William Webb Ellis invented the game of rugby in 1823 at Rugby school and yes you do have to tackle as hard as you can otherwise as you end up getting hurt!!!

For everyone who argues about which is the harder sport: rugby or American football. They hit harder and from all angles in American football and it is really dangerous but they are so protected which allows all of that. Rugby is intense as fuck, no stop and start bullshit, no protection, fights, head clashes, bleeding, eye gouging, stamping and loads more. The harder sport to play is clearly rugby. However the hits are normally harder in the NFL,

I have a DII National championship medal and competed at that level every year that I played in college, then went on to coach. If any of my players played dirty rugby as exemplified here I would have kicked their asses back to the bench. There are good and bad collegiate teams, and clean and dirty play- but this is definitely not "professional level" throughout the video. Watch the upcoming final world cup matches if you want to see some really excellent, fast-paced, hard hitting, play.

Why make a video of all this illegal $ht so people who don't know rugby think this is how it is supposed to be played? You would be in the sin bin all game if you swung somebody around by their collar/neck or tackled this late. A real rugby player gets low and still gets his opponent down on the ground.

Damn I'm guessing this is at like a professional level in whatever country its in...In America I watched college rugby it was the most pussy thing I have ever seen. This video gave me new confidence in a sport that I thought was lame. There are some nasty hits. Oh yeah, a common misconception about the pads in american football is that they protect you. Ha not really they just give you more power and brute force to knock the shit out of people.

@ducati2180 Completey agree but the only reason QB's get more protection is that other teams try and intentionally hurt the player that is playing QB more than a RB or WR. Without its starting QB, the team will suck. So they get a little more protection. And Rugby is BADASS. Some fucking sweet tackles. Real full contact sport.

@creeperofthebutt I have played football for 9 years. I have played rugby for 5. Personally rugby takes a much tougher person to play than football, both mentally and physically. The hits may not be as hard but they sure as hell come close. Oh, and the only protection a rugby player has is a mouthpiece, no helmets, no shoulder pads, no pants padded out the ass, no pads. Also I highly doubt a NFL QB could play rugby. They are overpaid pampered pansies. I cant even watch football, it bores me know
