Have you done any mods to the engine? I was thinking about getting this exaust. I have a ford racing CIA and it's bama tuned. Will this give it enough flow? thanks.
I'm leaving the SUV market and just picked up a 2005 Pony, getting it on Friday.. Then I'm driving down the street to get flowmaster AT installed.. Can't wait
I did consider magnaflow. I tried listening to as many sounds clips of pretty much all the different brands I came across and I liked flowmaster the best. I'd say its a bit deeper and more throatier than magnaflow which is what i was looking for. Try looking up Borla's, you might like it
for all of you saying v6 isnt "the right engine" "its fine without dual" "you gain nothing" than tell me something.. why did ford put a dual exhaust kit onto the 2011 v6? lol
@tegrofreven The 2011 v6 has a different engine. I speak for the S197 v6 stangs. Why did they finally put dual on the 2011 model? Simple. Dual exhaust looks a lot better/more sporty on these cars.
If you cut the stock Y pipe before it converges, then put on a bolt on x or h-pipe and run it back to intermediates and then the dual flowmasters, it cuts down on mpg, even gives you barely noticeable hp gains. i think this v6 sounds great with the single, its all a matter of what you want the vehicles outcome to be, neither is right or better
@DFritz63 are you kidding? the dual exhaust with a tune gives you significant gains, up to 15hp to the wheels, the MPG does go down simply because u have your foot glued to the ground haha, but agreed on the whole individual likes, basically its your car, do what you want....but dont rice it out, ford in no way condones nor endorses ricers
@ADD8oi If you read what I wrote I said CONVERTING TO DUAL EXHAUST. I never mentioned anything about a tune which obviously increases performance. Remember though that most tuners are going to give you HP gains at the crank, not the wheels, so your 15 HP might be a bit exaggerated.
@DFritz63 hp at the crank also translates to hp at the wheels mate, up to 15 hp at the wheels, ive dynoed many mustngs, and dependant on the age of the vehicle, the maintenance, mileage, etc the power gains are all different, the range is anywhere from 6-7rwhp-12-15rwhp on the 6 cylinder models, havent gotten any 3.7s in yet but they will most likely net masive gaines on a full exhaust setup
@ADD8oi Well you obviously know what you're talking about but my only comment was that if a tuner broadcasts 15 hp gain that tends to be a crankshaft spec and not rear wheel hp. You also have to take into account you're final drive which is dependent on your trans, diff and wheel size. The 3.73 gears will give you better acceleration and a good torque ratio but you wont see hp gains from a ring and pinion. If anything you'll lose the top end.
@DFritz63 And when I said the tuner gives you hp at the crank, I meant the numbers they advertise. Obviously increasing any specs on the engine correlates to more output at the rear. But if you're smart you build a car from the rear end forward. What good is pushing crazy numbers at the crank just to blow the V6's 7.5 up? If you're serious about performance, upgrade the diff, gear it, and then run forward making sure everything can handle final engine power.
All i did was buy the axle back and install it, no CAI or anything, just the 4.0 engine purring as loud as it can for a v6. and id say i took this video about 4 or 5 months of it being broken in.
i am thinking about buying an 05 v6 but its got 73k on it how many miles does yalls hav explrcapt +rzc0624? and does it still run good or had any problems? please reply thanx
i bought mine 2 yrs ago with 32k on it and it now has about 44k on it. To be completely honest, idk if its just my 05 v6 or what but this car has given me several headaches with electrical problems. If i were you, id wait on the 2011 v6 if you really want a v6 and not GT as its going to have 300hp which is what current GTs have.
@x2gen070 Yeah for the mustang. Dual exhaust isn't "GT Parts." Dual exhaust on a v6 mustang will yield higher MPG, give better airflow, and add some HP and torque. Dual exhaust isn't for a V8 only.
like i just said, most of the "dual" exhausts ive seen on the mustang v6 have been where the headers still connect like a y pipe then branch off to a dual, which does absolutley nothing. i have a v6, and just dont think theres anything wrong with leaving it single. with headers and the american thunder single, it sounds just as good as the expensive conversion
It goes for less on ebay. The installation was extremely easy but im going to go ahead and have the connection welded because im getting a rattling sound.

@Rmghockey
Yes. This is simply the axle back. As long as you still have your stock cat on, you'll be fine

Nice, i am going to get this. Why did you pick the flowmaster though. Did you consider the magnaflow?

An X pipe adds HP because you can get the spend exhaust out of the engine faster, thus, less back pressure, meaning pistons pump faster
And it sounds a lot better

yea itd look better with dual setup but its just a v6 so i figured why even bother.

skinspick6 2 years ago
thankyou. thankyou thankyou thankyou.
i just ordered this, and everyone ALWAYS asks "why not dual?!?!"
its just a v6. its not supposed to be dual.
i think single is the way to go.
if you want dual, go get the right engine (V8) for it.
x2gen070 2 years ago
@x2gen070 there is no "right engine" for dual exhaust. The whole reason for dual exhaust is to increase performance and power.
Sroloz 1 year ago
@Sroloz not for the mustang.
if you invest in gt parts, go get a gt.
if not, be happy with the v6.
plus half the v6 dual exhaust setups ive seen arent even true dual.

@x2gen070 Yeah for the mustang. Dual exhaust isn't "GT Parts." Dual exhaust on a v6 mustang will yield higher MPG, give better airflow, and add some HP and torque. Dual exhaust isn't for a V8 only.

how much was the exhaust plus installation?
where did u buy it?
02vette05stang 2 years ago
the axle back was $280, i bought it from the official Flowmaster website and I installed it myself, not too hard.
