Nice Video! I love how the graphics works :) It's funny how Ubuntu can do so much, but on Windows the card isn't supposedly able to handle Aero. Microsoft and Intel are just full of it sometimes. This video is full proof that the card is able to handle it. At the least able to handle Windows Aero Standard.

Yes mac osx is built on freebsd. No it does not use as much ram as windows. Also windows is not built on a kernel only unix/linux boxes run on a kernel. Beryl is pretty old and outdated, not to mention unsupported now. I recommend everyone to switch over to Compiz Fusion, a combination of Beryl and Compiz that is supported. It is more bug free and has alot more features than compiz or beryl alone.
the newest version of ubuntu lets you install it to windows just like any other program.if you don't like it you can uninstall it like another program.This type of install is not af fast as giving it it's own partition please not this only an but it's great for give a test run.

I had to take off my Nvidia FX5500 256BM because Ubuntu wouldn't boot up, it will give me an error, it would only boot up with the integrated Video Card, any ideas? oh and when I installed Ubuntu with the integrated Video card, then put back in the nVidia one it will install the nVidia driver and when it boots up an error pops up saying that there's an error with the XServer.

I use Ubuntu on my Old 12" Laptop I use for travel. If Linux had a decent video editing app like premiere or final cut I would Put it and all my pc's as it rules in all other aspects.
-If you are Gaming you still want windows
-Video editing = Apple Or windows xp PRO

And for your linux been productive.... how productive is it for an OS to take 3 hours to install (with the visual tweak seen here), twice as long to boot and not compatible with everything already on the market? And it doesn't require hours of pesky updates afterwards. It has lower system requirements than win XP even. Keep sucking on Billy's peter. wow...Vista takes almost 2 hours to install if not more. Ive been using windows since 95,before that dos, and I must say that today was the first time I tried Ubuntu and it was hard to get used to with the command line. But theres tons of help out there and I got the whole thing (ubuntu+beryl) up in about an hour and Im a linux novice. Windows on the other hand, youll be lucky if you dont need to reinstall after the install (if you dont know what youre doing)

You do realize that ssh is only for getting into boxes via a network when you can not be infront of the box right. Look it up there pretty boy its a network protocol has nothing to do with Xorg.

It does not crash lor! It simply steals keyboard and mouse, and it displays black screen. Silly program. Only way to terminate is with external computer interface. I am sorry most UNIX users tax their machines more than you tax yours.

Just cause you dont know about them dont mean other dont. Also ssh is not needed to restart Xorg ssh is used to get into boxes remotley. So if you are at the box physically ther is no need to ever ssh now is there nope there isnt.

Windows Vista was glitchy, but all MODERN anecdotal evidence points to that it is stable now. All the old haters that disliked it now say it is fine and fast.
How is Windows Vista shit? No shittier than Linux. Linux has difficulty not crashing because of some third rate video driver. I used Linux for 10 years and that piece of shit was always crashing.

OK you got me. I am a Linux idiot. I am afraid I did not open the logic gates and do bitwise operations on the kernel level APIs at the right moments! It is my fault the CPU divided by 0 at Linux's disgression as I COULD CLEARLY control the machine code going through the CPU at all moments. I am sure you run your computers in a debugger so if you see some hex instructions you can prevent the fucker from crashing. amirite?

Beryl is pretty old and outdated, not to mention unsupported now. I recommend everyone to switch over to Compiz Fusion, a combination of Beryl and Compiz that is supported. It is more bug free and has alot more features than compiz or beryl alone.

the newest version of ubuntu lets you install it to windows just like any other program.if you don't like it you can uninstall it like another program.This type of install is not af fast as giving it it's own partition please not this only an but it's great for give a test run.
Please note this only applies to ubuntu 8.04 lts

Just install linux and then look for the package compiz-fusion if your using 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) go to synaptic, you'll find it there.

I had to take off my Nvidia FX5500 256BM because Ubuntu wouldn't boot up, it will give me an error, it would only boot up with the integrated Video Card, any ideas? oh and when I installed Ubuntu with the integrated Video card, then put back in the nVidia one it will install the nVidia driver and when it boots up an error pops up saying that there's an error with the XServer.

you can do a dual boot with windows and linux
and u can choose which one you want to use when u start up..so u never have to leave windows...
if u want to install ubuntu.. the easiest way is to google the word "wubi" and then download
it then u can install your linux through windows :)

Beryl is an add-on window manager for unix-based OSs (I think). Main features are: infinitely custamzable, thousands of effects, workspaces on a cube,... It also comes with a window decorator. Its awesome. I love it!!! In fact, i am planning to switch to Ubuntu with Beryl as my premier operating system. Hey, how do you get all the windows to arrange, so you can see them all (what options)?

Yes, it looks pretty. My problem with all these nifty new UI's and effects has been I fail to see how they increase ease-of-use or productivity.
I'm definitely no Mac zealot...this is my first Mac (1 month now). My problem with Linux has always been all the configuration and tweaking to get everything working gets in the way of actually getting anything DONE.
Call me when the UI actually helps me get things done more efficiently than on OSX...

I use Ubuntu on my Old 12" Laptop I use for travel. If Linux had a decent video editing app like premiere or final cut I would Put it and all my pc's as it rules in all other aspects.
-If you are Gaming you still want windows
-Video editing = Apple Or windows xp PRO
(Not Crappy Vista)
-If you do not game or edit video then Linux is the best by far. and it's free.

Just about every Windows game can now be run natively in Linux environments with the help of Cedega.
In addition, the majority of the effects being seen in the video are free and open source, which is more than anyone can say for those found in Vista.
But don't give up man, Windows users finally have some eye candy to justify their $350 Ultimate purchase...

Well, first of all, i'm not a windows fanboy, i use it beacause it's almost perfect, that's all. And for your linux been productive.... how productive is it for an OS to take 3 hours to install (with the visual tweak seen here), twice as long to boot and not compatible with everything already on the market? And for my english, i would like to ear you speak french, just for fun (is there a translator on linux...ohh too bad)

Almost perfect is no more than opinion. That in itself is a fanboy remark. Ubuntu is the easiest distro to get working with Beryl, half our tops. And it doesn't require hours of pesky updates afterwards. It has lower system requirements than win XP even. Keep sucking on Billy's peter. Oh, and there are lots of translators for various languages in the packages system. :)

wow...Vista takes almost 2 hours to install if not more. Ive been using windows since 95,before that dos, and I must say that today was the first time I tried Ubuntu and it was hard to get used to with the command line. But theres tons of help out there and I got the whole thing (ubuntu+beryl) up in about an hour and Im a linux novice. Windows on the other hand, youll be lucky if you dont need to reinstall after the install (if you dont know what youre doing)
