impresive...yes, practical... no. who needs an 80 ft cast. if u can't see the fish. lets c u put a parachute fly 3 ft. from the bank in full cover on both sides, standing on the shore..
@bburns548twins Impressive yes...practical NO? I see the green eyed monster has grabbed you by the short and curly's lol! I'm pretty sure with Steph's effortless casting abilities he could put the fly on the money 99% of the time, which is probably 99% better than most 'seasoned'' casters. The skill and economy of motion in his every movement more than warrant this. I've only shore fished tropical saltwater myself and 80ft+ casts are more than practical in that situation. Bonefish anyone??? :D
@bburns548twins hahaha - he could definitely do that. That would just entail a high back cast, or adapting a roll cast, and he is a master at roll casting. So stupid argument, however, i do agree in that I dont think that his cast is that practical at all, its a lot of show, and id be interested to check his leader after this video for casting knots. I prefer to keep in more simple.
Agreed. Most fishing situations, single or double handed spey, can be covered with just one simple cast. The Roll Cast. I know many folks that have made a living off of not wasting time learning unneeded casts. Its about efficiancy, accuracy and presentation. Not looks and distance. Fish can be snuck up on without hauling over 80 feet.
omg....i never thought i could cast like that.........but ...yes.....i can now....oh myyyi can cast all my line out....120 feet......(and not a siingle-double haul either,,....hhehehe
Getting back to the fact that this guy is good. Damn nice work friend. You just got me back to fly fishing after 28 years. There sure are some nice rods out there these days. Might as well take advantage of the tecnology.
I respect the command you have of the line but do these casts help the line to travel farther, land on the water quieter, ease stress on your wrists, or even throw the line in tight or overhanging conditions? Im a little confused. Could you elaborate?
These are all spey casts. very little room required behind you. Rod is loaded with a D loop, anchored by friction on the water's surface. Single-hand speycasting is very useful in tight areas where a backcast would otherwise hang up.
never seen anything like this. great and inspiring. The video quality is kind of poor. Do you have anything available in DVD quality for purchase? I would be interested in seeing more...
hey buddy lay off!!! that was my little brother who made that comment, although his comment wasn't a good one, he does have a deficency in his english skills, so stfu and stop making comments about people you have no clue about!!
I bought both Opti and Mutil line Wt7, the Multi is easy to load and has white/green colour and easy to roll cast. I will try out the Opti-stillWater line this weekend. I will let you know how I get on.
Stephan, i signed up for a youtube account just so i could share my comment with you. I am new to flyfishing, and as a beginner my casts look horrible and the learning curve can be quite frustrating. You have the most unique a wonderfully produced flycasting demo video I have seen on here. I was so inspired by your demonstration of skill that got on my waders and went practicing last weekend in the snow and ice. I look forward to your next video.
Hello Mark! I´m honored by your text and glad that you like my videos! As I said befor you can download this video aswell in High resolution - you can finde the link in the videodescription.
do you have any videos explaining how to do any of these casts? i fish alot of streams with heavy cover behind me and this would be great to learn

An excellent sense of timing as he anchors and fires. Loop reels deliver a high-tech, Euro attitude.
