Have flown non-stop to paris and london from LAX. Does anybody know why the jets furn counter clockwise or southerly instead of clockwise or northerly in the direction of Western Europe??? Seems like a lot of wasted gas turning southerly first instead or northerly.

@TheDreamConnection OK.
@sniperkillzzzzzzzzzz Lufthansa does not operate the 777. Plus I never flew on a 747 before in my life, so the inconvenience with the seatpich may be worth it for me nonetheless.
@sniperkillzzzzzzzzzz LH isn't flying the A340-600 between MEX and FRA. Besides, people say the A340-600 is even more cramped than the 747. Thanks, but like I said, even with the inconvenience of 3-4-3 and the bad seat pitch, I'm fine flying on a 747.
Ok thats odd from LAX to FRA and the aircraft is going down south! what an odd route hh its like when i flew from TLV to SXF (tel-aviv-berlin) and the aircraft started flying south towards egypt and flew back up north!
Taking off from runway 24L, and making left turn called "Loop 4" Heading direction 243 degrees, first turn at 1500 feet second at 3000 feet third one may very by ATC. Some would go around Long Beach, some would pass LAX not less then 10000 feet. All of this also may very by aircraft type and flight directions. For example Aeroflot 767-300 making first right turn at 6000 feet.
@umahuma4 I hate it when people say this. Statistically its safer meaning less lives are lost on air planes than cars. But if something really bad goes wrong in a car just limp it on the shoulder or to a parking lot and get it towed. If something goes really bad when your in a metal tube 30,000 feet in the air.... your all dead no matter what.
@umahuma4 it is SAFER only statistically, you may break all your limbs in a car accident and be ok in a year but you have no chance of recovering after falling from 30.000 feet ) I always take a car or travel by train where possible instead of flying )
is that how all flights are bcause im march im going to take a plaine from concord california to las vegas nevada and i was super scared but this makes me feel so much better
I want to take a flight like that in fact I'm supposed to fly outta LAX to go to Frankfurt this summer but all the flights have lay overs and don't seem to fly that North to Greenland
You actually took off on Runway 24L -- from the east to the west. The plane's heading as it rolled down the runway was approximately 240 degrees. The opposite end (closest to the ocean) of Runway 24L is Runway 6R. Runways are numbered according to their compass heading. Opposite ends of any runway reflect opposite ends of a circle, or a difference of 180 degrees. In this case, the difference between 24 and 6 is 18.
u cant see anything in ground lol. big wing

Its always beautiful taking off out of LAX! FYI, the planes going East always turn South then break East because they always take off to the West.

Sebby 4 SID to SLI then northeast to DAG
sfmmtnmaniac 2 years ago
Standard departure for traffic, east and northeast is to turn south and then east/northeast; usually flying just to the south of Long Beach.
Flights to SFO, SEA, etc. and Asia usually fly runway heading and then turn the northwest -- passing over Ventura and Santa Barbara.

Probably because they took off over the Pacific (into the wind), then made a left turn to go back towards the mainland, then on their way to Germany.
