They learned the song right before the they played it for the encore, granted it's not a tricky one, but still cool, the concert was on a Tuesday, and it just passed to Wednesday.
Sounds damn good to me. Of course no one is going to be able Lynyrd Skynyrd's 1976 One More From The Road version, but Phish did this song justice. I love how Phish appreciates all great music no matter what reputation it has. Skynyrd is one of the most redneck bands ever, but if you sit down and lisen to there orignal albums from 1973-77 they are such a great band. Every song is good. ROCK ON PHISH!
It is with scott...Hear the two guitars at the end?? Scott fucking rips Trey is my favorite player ever but man did scott hold right in there with him like a motherfucker....best guest I've ever seen phish play with....my first show was great woods 95
This is from great woods 99' right with scott from Max Creek? Following one of the sickest possums ever w Scott? Who was playing Trey's backup languedoc and honestly held his ground with trey unbelievable.....usually it's embarissing to see someone sit in with phish on guitar like even santana back in the day seemed very nervous and definitely outplayed (not intentionally) Trey obviously spent waaay more hours in his bedroom practicing what it takes to crush any mode scale or lick
Couple of goofs near the beginning but a great cover overall in my opinion. I had this on an old cd but it got cut off at around 5 minutes in, good to hear it all :)
I was there, they fucking nailed it. period. They had someone go buy the cd @ set break knowing they would be breaking the venues curfew and playing after midnight "Tuesday was gone". they had never played the song before EVER. So if you have a problem with this version, pull your head out of your ass, it will improve the sound, guaranteed
god every time i hear this i get goosebumps...i love it

never forget those 2 nights, opened first night with Boston Foreplay/longtime and ended with this. Oh, and the first night was my birthday.

If they truly just learned this back stage then I give them credit but this one is definitely ragged. They've got the emotion though.
