  • How come Elofson won Gold in 2003 if this raced ruined him?

  • @Tom87O

One can blame Muhlegg or Pers diet. Tragicly scientist hoax still make people believe that eating fat makes you fat and so a lot of athletes (like Per) still thinks that eating extremely low amounts of fat makes you more competetive. Low fat diet makes you easier burn out. Per increases his training dosage even further after losing to Muhlegg so yes Muhless and the diet was the reasons for his sudden decline.

  • It is also not very surprising that Nordic countries dominate cross country skiing since it is a big sport in our countries. Warmer countries talents choose cycling or running as sports. Norway and Sweden have dominated skiing the last 20 years except on periods where doping have been far ahead of anti-doping agencies. Name one single Swedish or Norwegian skier that has been tested positive for doping.

  • "Har han skruvat upp ett så högt tempo från början Mühlegg, kan det va så?"

"Kan han köra så hårdt Mühlegg värkligen at dom inte orkar henga på honom där?"

If only they knew... Fucking cheater. I just get this incredible sense of rage when I see this...

  • And what about Björn Dählie? Do you think he was cheating too? They're still testing his blood samples but obviously he was 100% clean.

  • @LimesNorrlandicus If you think he was druged, you should think again.. He trained, trained and trained.. If you think he was druged, then everybody is druged...

  • @ferskenmannen read my comment again I said Dahlie was clean.

  • No; obviously it was not against Myllyla's or Isometsaes character, of course if you asked them they would tell you that doping is bad etc. But they would be lying...

I 've met Elofsson very briefly during a jogging session and he was exactly as I expected. He is a very nice and honest person and certainly the last person who would cheat. Besides technique is very important, Muhlegg was very weak in that respect. His short stride technique and often using 2nd gear was ridiculous.

  • All the best skiers were doped as hell those days. Whoever believes Elofsson was clean must be a bit retarded.. how the hell did he manage to beat all the doped finns, russians austrians etc. if he was clean himself? And "surprisingly" he decided to quit as soon as the EPO test was introduced. Don't get me wrong I respect Elofsson as an athlete but I respect Muehlegg's and Myllyla's achievements as well. As I said, those were the days no one could have been successful without taking any dope.

  • @kalzu81 Elofsson used no illegal substance, that would be totally against his character. His skiing technique was better than many of his competitor's, especially compared to Mühleggs.

Elofsson quit because his body could not take it anymore. As soon as he started training as he used to he got sick. This race and the hellish dose of training leading up to it was the beginning of the end for Elofsson.

  • @LimesNorrlandicus How would it be against his character? If you ask people taking dope was very much against Myllyla's and Isometsae's character too but they took it.

If you've ever been seriously inside that sport you should know that no one has been or will be so much better than the others that he could beat doped top competitors and be 100% clean himself. That's what was the name of the game in the 1990s and early 2000. Marginally better technique doesn't make enough.

  • @kalzu81 You are so wrong..

  • @kalzu81

    1) The typical doper is the one that blooms very late

    and

    2) conistently overachieve at major events

    and

    3) Absolutely crush all opponents like winning with 30 seconds on 10km, 20 seconds on 20km or with like minutes for 30-50 km races

Elofsson do not qualify very well for these. When Elofsson beat finnish doped skiers those where like "top-50" skiers that with doping became top-3's. If a top-510guy doped then YES no way Elofsson could beat him under normal conditions.

  • @firepowerjohan Muhlegg wasn't a no name skier. He was a World Junior Champion, had many good, consistent results throughtout his career (before 2000-2002). He wasn't winning Olympic medals, but he was there or thereabouts. Somebody like Veerpalu and Mae fit your bill perfectly.

  • @davd1986

Muhlegg was one of the better racers but all his dominant victories were based on doping. Who says he did not use doping earlier in his career as well, we will never know.

Veerpalu I think was busted for doping just before he retired which is no suprise at all.

  • @firepowerjohan Yeah, from what I have read and heard, it seems like the Germans were/are doping. They were working very close to a couple of big Laboratories/Institues in Freiburg and Vienna, the same ones used by the Telekom Cycling Team (Freiburg) and in Vienna, they worked with one of the doctors that also worked with Hoffman of Austria, Bernhard Kohl (famous Austrian cyclist) and several others. The Italians of the 80s and 90's were also rumored to have used EPO (Di Centa)

  • Quite possibly the most doped up performance in sports history. What's most sad is that while many of the other skiers were doped some too, Mühlegg was so completely jacked up to his eyeballs he ruined the entire event. All of the events. The entire Olympics actually.

  • Damn, I really wished Elofsson let Muhlegg go. Should have just focused on getting a medal first, easier said than done, when you are the favorite going into the olympics. Real sad, how Elofsson never 'fully' recovered from his problems at SLC. He ended up winning that years World Cup, and did win two medals at World's next year, but it was pretty much over after that.

  • That ugly retarded asshole Muhlegg ruined these olympics, especially for Elofsson. Muhlegg was so full of dope, it was no competition, it was impossible to win without using dope. A sad day for sports.

  • Elofsson could probably hace competed in Turin and now in Vancouver is if not was because of this a-hole Mühlegg

  • @SirViktor84

That's so stupid it's not even funny. Elofson one gold in 2003 by the way.

  • Verste jeg har sett

  • Mühlegg er bare ekkel, alle prøver var positive og fortsatt så påstod at han aldri dopet seg.. lille homse

  • fucking cheater. Seriuosly, what is the point, even if you dont get busted, you will always know that you cheated.

Respect to Per Elofsson, he was the one trying to keep up

  • Yeah..disgusting!!!

  • This footage makes me sick.. johann mühlegg ruined elofsson's career

  • @ojmuller66 What a load of Bullshit!

If Eleofson was so clean and Mühlegg so much doped. How come Elofson could win two golds in Lahti against Mühlegg in 2001? Mühlegg domianted the 50km in Lahti just like the 30km in 2002. So according to your logics he must ahve been highly drugged in 2001 too. So how did Elofson mange too beat him while being clean? Wake up people, nobody was winning annything in Cross Country Skiing without blood doping. Not Mühlegg, not Eloffson.

  • @Tom87O A lot of what blood doping is has to do with when it was administered. If he was just increasing his red blood cell count then he could have done it just before his olympic races and thus he would have crushed all competition. I doubt it was HGH or something like that, they tested for common things in 2002.

  • @ojmuller66 I know its over 2 years ago, but the Biathlete Ole Einar Bjorendalen followed him aswell, and his career did not go to hell.

  • @daggalaggabagga

Elofsson was a freak of training, like Gunde Svan and Bjorn Dahlie. After losing to Muhlegg he increased his training dosage even further. He became sick. IMO perhaps his diet is to blame as well. There is a controversy about diets these days and some athletes wrongly belive that eating very low fat diet is good but it can burn you out as well. Markus Hellner for example told the press he does not believe in the Gunde Svan diet with tons and tons of carbs.
