It won't fix it permanantly, but type explorer.exe from the command prompt in task manager and that should restore your desktop. Click file tab, click new task(Run), type explorer.exe. It sounds like maybe a competing process is interfering with your desktop from showing up, like an active desktop program, etcetra. Hope this helps.

can anyone help me ;
for some reason i have lost my start menu, taskbar and all my programmes on the desktop.
i can access all my programes through the task manager but cant open them in the normal way.
anyone ?

Winodws 7 runs on old systems, unlike Vista.
I have it installed on my netbook that has a 1.6ghz intel atom and only 1gb of ram.
