  • @dawgt11 Hehe, our usernames are alike.

  • @TheElectrographicOne Duck tape? It's not animal tape... DucT tape

  • didn`t work here, can u help me?

  • @dawgt11 make a thermonuclear weapon of course. Duh,

  • This video solved my problem- "how to spend a weekend"

  • What do I do with the plutonium I made

  • Lol nice tutorial... Smoke detectors to go on FBI watch list lmao

  • Why would anybody do this for a hobby

  • is this for real ??

  • i fucking hate his voice

  • @kize127 why it makes this experiment more interesting..

  • For what do i need the neutron gun i don´t get it o.0

  • Alright, let me go get my lead block and box of unused smoke detectors.

  • hi i made one of these and my cousins teeth are falling out, and i think im being followed. is this of any concern to me?

  • @BeakyRed wut proof u got? just checking if ur a troll

  • @chrisstevensjunior yeah im just kidding

  • @BeakyRed ok but wut would happen if you actually make one

  • @chrisstevensjunior i think that i would have to be careful with it otherwise i could get radiation poisoning, but i dont know much about nuclear energy. it depends on the level of nuclear energy you are exposed to. for example, bananas are radioactive, but i think you would have to eat millions to get poisoned

  • @BeakyRed lol bananas wtf?

  • @chrisstevensjunior you dont have to believe me if you dont want to, but im telling you its true

  • @BeakyRed shit.. it is..but im not dying before you :( and i love bananas :D

  • @chrisstevensjunior oh dont worry, you would have to eat millions at once, so its impossible to die from them

  • @BeakyRed ik :D

  • @BeakyRed this type of reactor is based around thorium, thorium only gives off alpha wave particles, these cannot penetrate your skin and will only have the ability to harm you if ingested

  • This video feels like a trap for the FBI.

  • your neutron gun is neutron fun :D

  • chernobyl people think this is a bad idea

  • and this wont produce plutonium.this will produce uranium 233.because a neutron coming from the core will react with the thorium 232 and turn into thorium 233 and that decays by a beta particule to uranium 233

  • is it just me or does sound like it could be in Fallout?

  • Oh and guys it's alpha rays

They can't even go through paper

Just don't try making plutonium which are gamma rays...

  • @Brijtyphoon No plutonium is also a weak alpha emmitter

  • Umm...

    Did this the other day

Some guys came round in black glasses

Oh and all the children in my neighbourhood had mutations when they were born

    I do wonder why

  • love the accent.......:D

  • 854 people are now on the FBI watch list.

  • or... How to get Cancer in 6 Easy Steps!

  • smart handling radioactive substances with your BARE HANDS!

  • oh please, Plutonium-234 is much easier to obtain from ur local black market dealer,,,i know some one named Achmed Bad'aafdi in Iraq who gets Plutonium, Uranium, Californium, Iridium and other isotopes, WHOLESALE! :D

  • How much power does this reactor put out? can it run a lightbulb?

  • Hey, by the way, is this legal?

  • Is anyone else slightly disturbed by how perky the narrator is?

  • now that you have a plutonium reactor, you can threaten foreign countries with nuclear war, and extort all there resources, for your own dark desires

    *DING*

  • not even wearing gloves.

  • This unprotected schmuck is going to get a nasty case of cancer.

  • Sweet! This should cut down on my home energy bill, thanks! :P

  • Dude i thought those were condoms and the beginning at first >.>

  • @Captainobvious57

    same here, lolz

  • Of course doing this without gloves is perfectly save.

  • @Psychonik3 Yer cause gloves are really gunna stop the radioactivity lol. Oh wait u mean lead gloves =D

  • for somereason, this dudes voice told me its fake. I know its fake but goddamn- WTF IS WITH HIS VOICEEEEE

  • @nicky89107 This is "real" as in, if you actually performed these horribly dangerous actions, you would make a crude reactor.

You would also probably kill yourself.

  • The whole stuff sounded like the Fallout series lol

  • this sounds more like cancer to me :S

  • Hilarious - well done!

You can also simply go to Siberia and pick up tons of discarded German and French nuclear waste (possibly including uranium and plutonium) randomly throughout the countryside...

  • How is this thing cooled? I would try it, but I don't want a meltdown.

  • @HerrJohann72 You could submerge it in heavy water or use some sort of refrigeration. I doubt it gets hot enough to need cooling.

  • um, nobody saw that explosions right, if the fbi ask, im not here

  • Before any one tries this can we get a number on how radioactive the end product is?

  • @zeekertron Someone in the States once tried to built his own reactor. He got injured through the exposure to radiation, but survived as far as i know. Look up David Hahn on wikipedia...

  • Soon very soon!

  • tl;dr? it doesn't work, but it's still dangerous and you shouldn't try it at home (obviously!)

  • While this is based on real science, ie all those materials are in the places they said they were, and they can 'theoretically' be used in a nuclear reactor, the amounts are Waaaay off. You would need several tons of thorium to achive critical mass and they vastly exadurated the amount of material you could get from those sources.

They use Uranium/plutonium for a reason. Low critical mass. To build a reactor that size you would need highly refined plutonium and neutron reflectors

  • @Anon3mous1 Couldn't you just keep hitting it with alpha particles?

  • @AntiTPG

You could, if you had a powerful enough source of alpha particles - but it would need to be a rediculously large amount if you wanted to sustain a sub-critical fission chain reaction.

To put this to an analogy, it's like your trying to light a candle, but instead of wax you have uranium and instead of a lighter you have an alpha source. If you don't have enough wax for the candle to sustain a flame, you 'could' just leave the ligher burning, but it would kind of be missing the point.

  • WTFFTW u have to send this to mythbuster... dont want to try this at home-*-

or if someone tried it just jend me a short message if this is real

  • movie source code lol

  • Somone please send this to myth busters!

  • Enjoy your cancer!

  • 41 americans didn't like this

  • Et æbleskrog er den fredligste form for kærnevåben

  • i love it when the words "nuclear reactor" and "duck tape" are both in the same video

  • oh my god! isn't it illegal to have radioactive material?

  • @superdevonator while it IS a hazordus material, it shouldn't be unless you dont have it properly stored.

  • is it just me, or is the youtube loading bar gone..... buffering every 10 seconds...

  • Can we call some Mythbusters on this already?

  • Is this safe?

  • Gonna get superpowers, fuck yeah.

  • Dont want to live next door to this guy

  • I actually got a bunch of fire detectors from hardware company went out of business couple years ago, I got 2 cases of them. Always wanted to try and make a neutron gun with them, they've been sitting in the garage for about 3 years now. Whenever I'm stop being lazy I definitely will be trying it.

  • @qoaa man, that sounds interesting, pm me so i can find out where you live. I do have some nerd style radiation traning.

  • Did he dead?

  • Minecraft IRL

  • How to get cancer DIY kit xD

  • Thumbs up if you wanna be Tony Stark...

    Making...

A reactor in a garage. With a box of scraps

  • Rofl

  • I accidentally the whole town, is this bad?

  • @Forssa1 you accidentally it wrong

  • @Forssa1 You accidentally what?

  • @Forssa1 no it's not, as long as you don't use an actionverb!

  • haha, hilarious :D

  • I did this and it worked!!! but now all my hair is falling out help

  • I guess I'll pass on the solar panels on my roof and make this one instead.

If the government does not aprove... well, they attacked Iraq, that did not have the bomb and leave Nort Korea -that has one- alone.

Fortunately, people who do this at home get taken out of the gene pool quite fast. Now let me take another puff of those alfa rays

  • Any attempts to collect and concentrate radioactive elements from home appliances could actually work. But then it would be dangerous, and probably illegal (depends on where you live). Some Thorium mantles are dangerously hot as they are, no need to collect more of then and extract the thoriums.

Seem like I can't leave my house without Geiger after this. Good thing at least radium watches are pretty hard to get these days .. there is a reason why they stopped making them.

  • Is there a 'stupid' category? This is supposed to be funny, I guess, but it's just straight-faced enough that some folks might try it. That thorium procedure will fill your lungs with alpha emitter and a possible case of lung cancer down the line. BTW, you can't make plutonium this way. The video is irresponsible crap.

  • Didn't a guy in Norway get arrested for doing the same thing?

  • @bLEKI557 Yeah, and he recommends this video on his blog!

  • @bLEKI557 sweden

  • well everyone who has viewed this video is now on a watch list :( why oh why did i click on that link DAMN YOU REDDIT!

  • An hour after i watched this video, there's been a black van parked across the street.

  • Does this accualy work?

  • @metalgearsolidrulez No. Everything they say is basically true statement - slightly misunderstood statement - complete bullshit statement - new scene, repeat.

  • 1:54

    Making crack?

  • how do u dislike fuckin around with radioactive shit!? PLUTONIUM FTW

  • Man I always wondered how to make plutonium at home. thanks youtube!

  • @DownstairsB Yh i hope soo.

  • This is the Fallout mod for Minecraft!

  • S C I E N C E !

  • This will be a good science project for my daughter.

  • ...a ductape nuclear reactor?!?

now we can say that ductape can do EVERYTHING!!!

  • @plokko1Excellent! DUCKTAPE IS THE ULTIMATE MATERIAL!

  • @TehNoobiness Oops, I didn't mean to add excellent to your username. Sorry!

  • i got cancer after doing this experiment :(

  • *ding!*

  • 1.28 jiggawatts!

  • well... been there done that... but there was an accident other people refer to it as chernobyl

  • It's Cancer Time!

  • Where's the Kaboom? There was supposed to be a large Earth-shattering Kaboom!

  • @JohnXT7 What part of "a reactor is not a bomb" are you still not getting? A nuclear reactor and and atomic bomb are entirely different both mechanically and in what chemicals they use.

  • Hmmmm... that guy should be dead by now!!!

  • @oleche Radiation poisoning takes awhile, although he should have been wearing some kind of HAZMAT suit.

  • This look like a very expensive alternative to vasectomy.....

  • LOL umm, no.

  • Oh no...now everyone will make a nuclear bomb at home...the end of the world is near folks! xD

  • what is there not to like about this video??? making science fun!

  • YAY!!! now i don't need to buy it from Libyans in the parking lot.

  • @heshoots9999

    ::points::

WHO DO YOU THINK!? THE LIBYANS!!

  • Excellent video, my good sir. You also appear to have summed up everything of radioactive importance to be learned from "The radioactive boy scout" in a single 2:38 video.

  • Perfect the last piece i needed for my flux kompensator

  • Wtf, I thought this was going to produce electricity, not plutonium.

  • @MaaveMaave atomic bombs are nuclear reactors, too (without producing electricity)

only thing they do is unleaching energy in form of (termal)radiation, which then can be used to wipe out cities or heat up water (like in steam engines) which then brings turbines to produce energy by circulating...

this reactor is indeed to weak to do any of the above, but should you succede in creating pure plutonium (about 99% of Plutonium-239) and about enough to achive the critical mass (min 4.49 kg)....

  • @SOEINEGAUDI Ah, ok, Thanks for the info.

  • @MaaveMaave sorry for my english and for rambling on....

  • lol, it s stupid

  • I bet this guys local DIY store run a mile when he walks in the store

  • Is this video a joke or a serious, educational program?

  • this looks like the best idea ever lol, jk u gonna get cancer now. but for bonus points build a molten salt reactor out of pvc and a supersoaker

  • A man in sweden was sent to jail, after doing this. haha

  • @chelsealampard7 nah, just fined.

  • Lets take those model steam engines to the next level :D

  • @slitor Nice nuclear powered model trains! Me and a buddy were joking about making a tiny simpsons style nuclear powerplant, and putting a teapot on top of it.

It's the best cup of tea that ever gave you cancer!

  • @cidshroom5 no no no, not model trains model steam engine.

  • after making this one at home, you can say:

    "problems, electricity complanies? *trollface*"

  • Жесть!!

  • I DID THIS SHIT TODAY AND NOTHING HAPPENED

  • @black1abel lick it.

  • @black1abel I don't think I believe you, but just out of curiosity, what did you expect to happen?

  • how to get, radium powder from the radium solvent

  • @raykiller545 Simply evaporate the liquid. Remaining powder will have enough amount of radium. Just don't overheat it because active boiling will produce the aerosol that will carry part of the radium away.

  • How would yo make a neutron source from alpha and beta particles?

  • @Francio210 the lead block is basically a neutron gun, the lead reflects the alpha particles to the only opening (the barrel of the gun) where they react with the aluminum atoms and let off neutrons that turns the thorium into uranium. the aluminum is the neutron source, the alpha and beta particles are reacting with the aluminum to produce neutrons. but i dont see how this would actually work, it seems like it would just be a pile, not a fully functional reactor.

  • he is probably dead! :D bad english very dangerous

  • oh my god, this is the most amazing thing ive ever seen in my life! i couldnt tell if it was serious or not then i looked at the comments.... then i shat bricks...

  • Stupid and unfunny - if this is the modern American entertainment - we're all doomed...

  • @LechuCzechu

1:18 does that look like American money to you?

  • ppshht they showed us how to do this in preschool

  • Would it be possible to generate enough radiation from sources like these to actually boil water and make an actual nuclear reactor?

  • ye i made one of these and now i dont know what to do with it

  • HiLaRiOuS !

  • but will it blend?

  • @Andersng1 yea but it will explode and along with the planet as well

  • @luigi14444 lol

  • @reznov1996 you remember what happened last time he played with lighters, right?

  • @Daggernest ass hole show some respect for the man

  • Someone broke hundreds of smoke detectors, lanterns, clocks, and used a shitload of lead, foil and duct tape, and made a cube of trolling

  • 1.21 Giga Watts!?!

  • @Smokingpizza Its a JIGGA WATT!

  • @pspheaven Just because Christopher Lloyd can't correctly pronounce Gigawatt doesn't mean you have to spell it wrong.

  • @Smokingpizza Hahaha, back to the future :D

  • Lets make a giant one and put justin bieber in it!

  • wdf is this

  • @Deathbyreality1 Whats what??

  • @computerstuffkid Why would you do that? becouse he is rich? famous? got a hotter girl then you? Just curious ^^

  • I love this video every tine I see it! If I could do it right and build one I think it would be well worth the $1.40 dollars a month not to pay ConEd for my electricity bill

  • stupid man uranium can't grab u hand but to use a grove this is a bullshit

  • @GeorgeBangdied just to know.. if u go to a uranium mine and grab some uranium with ur bare hands u wont be affected! After fission, the doughters are really harmful though. But still, u have to spend loads of time naked with uranium to get harmed!

  • They forgot to mention instant cancer!!!

  • R U FRIKING STUPID!!!!!!?

building your own reactor has loads of health risks

    explosion, exposure, radiation leak, etc.

then you'll have the police, CIA,FBI, greenpeace, and world media on your doorstep if they find out.

  • @lsteer100 sounds like a way to get famous fast.

  • @luigi14444 that maybe, but it is still dangerous.

depending on what you're using for fuel, the amount of radiation given off would be damaging.

if left untreated, you could cause a nuclear explosion (fusion or fission).
