@benoni45 Anita had severe rheumatoid arthritis, and at the time, the only effective treatment was prednizone. My dad had the same thing. After taking it for years, a person retains fluids and gets very puffy around the face. With RA, one really can't exercise much - it aggravates the condition - so persons afflicted also tend to gain weight.

@moproducer .....yes, I was aware of Anita's ill health in her later years! My comment was a knee-jerk reaction to seeing her quite this big! Nothing detrimental or derogatory was intended! Love all the Carter girls!
