This isn't a proper wind tunnel it doesn't have proper air flow going through the wind tunnel that you can measure air pressure on something like a plane.
@elvedin555 What's a good idea! But I can't. Please build your own tunnel then try to do it by yourself and don't forget to let us know on your channel :)
I've seen the Wright brothers wind tunnel and yes it has a square tube as do my and many other wind tunnels. It also has a large radiused flare into the opening and others have a tapering throat. The purpose it to get the air so it flows straight at the entry to the "Square tube". Having a "Square tube alone means that the air in the tube is turbulent and at all different angles -= just as you can see in this video. It is therefore quite worthless as a wind tunnel.
@bcstractor I am starting on a circular wind tunnel now...but I looked at some examples from Nasa and some of theirs were squarish....also looked at the math....so difficult!! I will sure to let you know. thanks for the advice :)
i am not an expert in aerodynamics...but then ur tunnel is square and ur fan is circular....does this affect its accuracy? I am dead serious and i want to build a wind tunnel myself...thanks for your advice :)
@Desmonddd2002 Exactly, it not provides very high accuracy. However, it's enough for my purposes: measuring pressure around a small object and presenting laminar/turbulent with low wind speed. Don't forget wind straightener (honeycomb) is needed.
By the way, you could try to use for instance a cylindrical pipe with round shape fan. Perhaps, you will get the better result. And don't forget to let me know :)
I think this is a more basic, understandable version of how to build a wind tunnel. It covers the basics very well, and doesn't require much. Very helpful.
ok, thanks. but i descovered another effect. when you turn on the tunnel without any objects, a smoke goes parallel. but if you rec it and slow-mo when u turn off the turbine, the smoke lines goes to the edges. i hope the pressure is not stable (bernulli / batista). i'm trying to make a smoke deformation graphic and correct it wegulating the filter convexity with a screw.
but recently i made a virtual design and simulated with gerris3D. the form is prety different. i'll build it in carbon fiber
@RGthunderclap Thank you so much for your comment. Please see "How to generate smoke in your own wind tunnel?" in you tube. It would answer your question.
@RGthunderclap wait i have a good solution to turbulence take a but load of straws and glue them together like a honey cone way it will give you a stream of air

I have cope of queries like how much did the material cost and where can i get them ( preferably via ebay )

what year was this video made? Just out of curiosity. Looks great though!

May I use this design of yours? I want to be sure to give credit to you if I want to use this on my science fair

OMG it's not a wind tunnel, why do you put stuff on youtube when you don't know what you're doing ?

and then i'll upload some video ;) could you make any tutorial for wind turbine instrumentation?

@bcstractor Next time, I will try to build as a real tunnel : )

what about the vortex? the air goes into the tunnel with turbulances. did you see that every tunnel has a stabilization box?
