@Billio0986 Thank you! I don't think I-65 is all that interesting, I'd be more likely to do one of I-165 the next time I'm in Mobile, of which I have now idea when that will be.
I love this video. I hope you make one of downtown Mobile; I haven't seen it in years. I lived on Dauphin St. before I got married & I loved it. As for Detroit, I was born north of Port Huron so am very fAmiliar with Detroit. The last time I saw it, itooked like a war zone. I'd hate to see Mobile any way like that. Thanks for posting. Hope to see the downtown area one of these days. BTW have you tried Dallas? We don't go there if we don't hAve to. & I bet I get a lot of nasty comments about th
Mobile ought to be ashamed of itself because on some issues it's worse than Detroit, and no, that is NOT something to brag about. The dysfunctional behavior and crimes in the mobile area seem to be more random and bizarre. At least in the Detroit area you can find a some what ok municipality to live in while in the mobile area town after town after town is full of dysfunctional garbage with strange behavior and low iq's. Anyone who knows both metro Detroit & metro Mobile knows this IS true.
Another great vid. I enjoyed the part where you could clearly see the Mobile skyline, the George Wallace Tunnel, and the Jubilee Parkway.
BTW, have you thought about filming a street tour of downtown Mobile, and/or I-65 towards the I-65/10 interchange, if you ever return to this city again? I have to say, I recently checked its downtown area out on Google Street View, and I was very surprised how attractive it was.
I hate when the people slow down in the tunnel, it's even worse westbound because of the quick turn on exit, but still no need for folks to slow as much as they do.
Hey FWJ, cool video! The footage is so sharp I thought I was looking at a video game until a few seconds in. What in the world type of camera do you use and where is it mounted?
Also could you please produce a video about the Atlanta loops those have 16 lanes? I want to see them as you are in the sorrounding states. Appreciated.
Im from canada, and i LOVE driving the interstates...im so glad you made these videos...im always looking for good rides to do down south!!!!! now i can have a reference...thanks JIMBO!!
I noticed you begin to see the Mobile skyline om I10 east the same way as the Boston skyline on I93 south. First you see the tallest skyscraper then the road curv es left and you can see the whole city
Hopefully you'll get some more road videos soon! Maybe Chicago? Michigan? Or maybe my home state of Massachusetts again? (There's more towns you need to check out. Especially Worcester and Framingham!)
@interstateruler Thank you. I like to spice things up here and there, but leaving out the effects would have been ok too. It just seemed like the thing to do at the time :)
Great video. The western half of I-10 is a nice, modern urban freeway. The downtown section is definitely neat, with a great view of downtown, and the tunnels really cap off what is an overall very interesting stretch of the transcontinental I-10.
Excellent video, as is all of your productions. I grew up in the Baldwin County, Alabama area, but now live in Ohio, so thanks for the memory lane trip. Have you ever caught anything out of the ordinary on camera? Strange vehicles, accidents, etc?
@stot1234 Thanks. The oddest thing I ever caught is a guy doing tricks on his motorcycle on the Capital Beltway, I have a short video of it somewhere on here.
Great ride and production. Enjoyed the view of Mobile Bay. How was the traffic on the bridge? Last time I ventured this way, everybody was passing me as if I was standing still (lol) I am definitely not a slow driver by any means.
Stunning piece of work!! and again , GREAT!! editing through the colors effects. It just blows my mind. :D - Five stars the way!! 5*****
¡¡ Impresionante trabajo !! y otra vez ¡ GRAN !edición a través de los efectos del los colores .¡¡ Simplemente alucino !! - ¡¡ Camino de Cinco estrellas !!
Nice video. I've never been on that part of I-10 in the Mobile area. Usually when coming back from Biloxi, we go up I-65 back home. Good update video. Do you have a video of I-165, from I-65 in Pritchard to Mobile?
@Bryant5493 Thanks Bryant, We did shoot I-165 North leaving town but the footage was horrible. The camera was not setup right and the light was not in our favor so it's just not worth using.
Love the video, beet waiting for this hometown video. Never heard the "Bayway" referred to as the Jubilee Parkway though in almost 23 years of existence though.
I just drove this section (westbound) on a trip home from Pensacola, exiting onto I-65 N. US-29 out of 'Cola would have been quicker, but I wanted to see Mobile Bay while I was so far south. Nice footage.
There are plans to demolish the whole Water Street/I-10 interchange and replace it with a standard diamond interchange. This should spur redevelopment in Fort Conde Village and along the waterfront.
Re the "black" overhead signs - they're dark green open grid legends, and from what I understand, it was a short-lived ALDOT experiment - late '80s/early '90s, I believe. Birmingham has quite a few, and there is at least one at the I-65/I-85 junction in Montgomery.
Very good video. I've always loved the drive across Mobile bay. And now you've sent me back to my vinyl stacks to pull my Aldo Nova LP out of mothballs. :-)
Oh I remember this route from several years ago, traveling from New Orleans to Gulf Shores, AL.
Damn Jim, I thought I was the only one who liked, or even remembered, this song by Aldo Nova! I remember cranking up this cassette tape in my car, back in my late teens!
Nice job on this video. I really liked this portion of I-10 when I traveled it a few years back on my way to Jacksonville, FL. The rest of I-10 through the Florida panhandle was painful though. So this is the last of your videos from your summer trip. I remember you had mentioned to me that you would probably be posting videos from this excursion almost until Thanksgiving and that ended up being about right.
3:05 Replace the GW Tunnel? NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! This is another childhood memory. For us New Orleanians, it's the magic tunnel to Disneyworld. I sure hope there's a Bankhead tunnel video as well.
@jasonlava No Bankhead tunnel video is in the works, BUT I did film it westbound so that short clip might find it's way to a compilation video at some point.
Great video. I passed through Mobile on 2007.
