i saw in another graphtech vid that the pre-amp fit's in the control cavity... allthough this one advices you to route a new one? sooo, which one is it? ;)
It's a pretty decent job for without a template; agreed. But this then illustrates why you should always use a template... Allthough the routing isn't visible later on, it's still not neatly and not professionally done.
I have been building and restoring guitars for 2 years now and even I can notice that. So apparantly you are the one who doesn't know what he's talking about. ;-)
Why would that make any difference? I have been into guitars for 2 years, but into woodworking since I was 13.
The first thing any one who uses a router learns is to use a template or at least a guide. In this video the guy uses neither, which makes it look unprofessional.
It would have looked way better if he had just used 2 simple guide rails, that's all.
Looks like a cool job. Someone linked to a article about there experiences with installing this and said it wasn't a hard job to do. I use a GK-3 EXTERNAL but would love to have a internal unit. When I get another guitar, I'll probably go the internal route with either a INTERNAL GK-3 or with this one. I have heard that these are very nice but am a little concerned with what I hear about the latest Roland update (1.04) that has settings for these. It's a mixed camp on which is better.

this is a very old video. Graph Tech does have a template, it is just not used in this video.

@Behindspace90 that's actually a pretty good job for without a template. you don't seem to know what you're talking about.

Thusfar looks reasonably easy for someone who is handy with power tools. I'd sure give it a shot.
