  • death to colonialists.finally they left Chinese shores.dont be picky & choosy.someone says i support decolonisztion but macau isnt china!smacks of double standards.portugal & british aint close to it.other side of globe!no bussiness being here.so thats just pro colonial attitude & paranoia cause of declining power of west.happiest day for all Asians.westerners can shutup.british empire was the bloodiest empire.so dont talk about communism.its way better than western imperialism!

  • No leader likes his much cherished dominion to be handed to some communist who did not do anything to deserve it. Indeed sad for them.

  • A very sad day.

  • Why do people say that Hong Kongers and Macau folks care? Like Chinese people don't care who controls them. If everyone has a place to live and a table with food, nobody cares. When I went to Hong Kong, Hong Kong was the same exact Hong Kong, except there are no Union Jack flags. For Macau, it is a totally different story. Macau is so much better and safer now, thanks to Chinese rule. Macau use to be so dangerous.

  • This ceremony is practically identical to the handover of Hong Kong two years earlier - couldn't they have thought of something more original? The Chinese hav even used the same artificial wind machine on the flags!

  • macau is not china, its not colonialism, i support the african and asian descolonization, but macau and hong kong wanted to be british and portuguese , not chinese, at least, they are not chinese now but controlled by china

god bless british hong kong and portuguese macau

  • @breizhcatalonia1993

Hong kong is populated by 95% ethnic chinese. hong kong was built by chinese hands.

  • R.I.P Asian colonization.

  • @international153 R.I.P WHITE PIGS AND NIGGERS

  • Visited Hong Kong & Macau before their handover & can understand that China wanted back both colonies: Enough is enough - as we wanted back Eastern Germany from Russia!

  • No,@jonaspv. You are bruning to the ground

  • I don't like China but if Portugal even make the slightest protest for Macau, China will nuke this tiny POS country to hell.

  • @Microglia1 That´s ok with me, but in order to that also the moors (arabs) should pay for all what they have done to both portuguese and spaniards (visigoths) during almost 700 years. And other people too of course.. This is a bit complicated but there could of course be a good solutions that could be found.

  • @Microglia1 China will not nuke portugal you spastic retard, and Portugal would never make a protest for Macau. Mind you are commenting on a video which was filmed 12 years ago. The portuguese people have a sense of pride and culture which you will never know or experience, and who are you to judge other countries? What makes you better than Portugal by just being born in another country? What have you done to help your country be better?

  • @PokeMePT Well at least the hangover of macau was less ugly than the handover of hong kong, caus...psh...the things the brits were thinking to do with hk, for example sucking every last cent from it, good thing china did something about it. Macau on the other hand... Protugal: "oh it's that time of year? ok here you go".

  • @PokeMePT Portuguese only pick fights they can win. They are a bunch of cowards. I remember vividly the massacre of many native people in Brazil. The only people that stand between the savage colonists and native people are the Jesuits. God bless the Jesuits, bringer of peace and goodwill.

  • @Microglia1 you're telling me your country would pick a fight against china? stop being biased and open your eyes you nasty hypocrit. you talk of peace and goodwill and you wish the death of all portuguese people on your comment below. what is this massacre you are talking about? how can you remember it vividly?

  • @PokeMePT Eu li a história. Sou fluente em seis idiomas.

  • Why Portugal follow Britain and give its Eastern colony to Communist China, didn't they want to retain some of the history as being one of the first great exploring, European countries?

  • @HMservant Do you think Portugal had the power to keep the Colony and stand agaisn´t China? I am a Nacionalist myself and know it would be idiotic to start another war, since, not many years before we had a Colonial War that we COULD have won,the Communist pigs created ideas of "Freedom" and made our soldiers retreat from the battlefields before 25 of april when situation there was almost solved,13000 young brave Soldiers died for nothing. atleast,i honor them, and the parents that cried for them.

  • Those demonstrative Europeans should be rfid microchipped.

  • I hate portugal.. Macau is my home, my family, my land, where i was born.. My life change so much about this thing... Portugal didnt have to give back macau to china...You thing that the portuguese people think of this.. its a lie... Is like many families like in angola and mocambique retorne to portugal by force. You think that we can stay but its not the same and is not the same life when was the portuguese rules..chinese can rules in macau know but soo much changed... My hometown :'(

  • @CathySweet93 Would you prefer to be colonised or to be butchered the communists? At least with colonisation of macau, it provided a safe haven for people fearing the mainland!

Long Live Portugal, Long Live Macao, and Heaven the Guomindang!

  • @nextstep333 During the portuguese rule almost noone in Portugal actually was so interested about Macau because it was too distant and its culture didn't resemble the portuguese as much as in other former colonies. Maybe you are right, maybe not, but would it have been wise not to hand it over to China? The reality is that, without being of a major national interest, let's face it, Portugal is small and China is big, and it wouldn't be of portuguese interest a possible conflict with China.

  • @nmgscp What conflict? Do you actually think that China would attack a full member of the European Union? A founding member of NATO? With all of their business interests in Europe they would never attack us without proper cause. If China attacked Portugal they would face the might of the EU because after all Macau was an European Overseas Territory. This is not the 60's and this is not Goa. Macau was handed to us for perpetuity, and we didn't rob it from anyone.

  • @jonaspv Well, when I talked about it I wasn’t meaning any military conflict from China directed against Portugal. That would be surrealistic. What I meant was concerning to diplomatic relations, economic ties and the interests of Macau itself! Don’t forget that Portugal negotiated human rights safeguards before the handover. And maybe there would be a risk of China taking Macau through violence, which would be terrible! Maybe the risk wouldn't be high, but if it happened, it would be terrible.

  • @jonaspv well said, macau must be portuguese again¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • @breizhcatalonia1993

Only in your dumb anus language question and exclamation marks are upside down. You small and insignificant Portuguese animal. Pooey.

You ugly fat fuck of no value in your own society. DIET AND DIE HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

  • @SeventhSun Err.. the upside down !! and ?? or actually Spanish.. not Portugues.

  • @jonaspv

Why would EU bother with such an insignificant country like Portugal, who also went half the world to sabotage Malacca long ago in its free time, only to be smacked dumb and lose it to the Dutch and then the British?

Bow to your new master in this modern age anus face.

  • @SeventhSun Portugal is a full member of the EU, which is a civilized confederacy of European free states. Portugal is the EU, and the EU is Portugal.Of course it would react if a member's territorial integrity was affected. Fuck off wanker.

  • @nextstep333 But, anyway, it's a portuguese moral obligation to keep an eye on China about the respect for the safeguards concerning to the human rights in Macau that were negotiated prior to the handover. And in case China wouldn't respect them, it should call the international community to make hard pressure for them to respect human rights there. It did it about East Timor (too late, but it did) and it worked in end. Let's hope that things in Macau never come even slightly close to that point

  • @CathySweet93

    What could we do?

If we haven't given it peacefully the same that happend with Goa would have occured in Macao.

I also hate the fact that e gave, and I hate the fact that the Empire was lost, but you can't hate Portugal for that.

Better love it due to the fact that thanks to the Portuguese Macao is a separate entity within the PRC.

That's what save the Macanese people from the Communist enslavement and opression.

    Viva Portugal!

  • @CathySweet93 Well, CathySweet. Thank our spineless politicians who just handed over what was ours. They should be shot for treason.

  • @jonaspv

Yours your ass more like. Don't talk smack and stick to the program.

  • @SeventhSun Learn to speak English first, you fucking gook.

  • @jonaspv fuck you European PIGS

Your economy is going to $hit like the rest of hispania. I hope Muslims burn portugal to the ground.

  • @Microglia1 Who are you to wish 10,6 million peoples death? By what reason?

  • @BrfSvardet I don't wish them death. I wish they would pay for their horrendous crimes against the moors and native peoples everywhere they killed and raped. Social justice.

  • @Microglia1 our economy is shit? you're cuban and you're telling us our economy is shit! im laughing so hard.

  • @xuantzi England, France and Holland were still reading about the tales of the world when the portuguese were already blasting and fucking women in Africa, Brazil, India and all over Asia. We teached the brits and the other europeans how to get out of Europe without being put down by the turks and persians. If England had Hong Kong is because of us, you moron.

  • @ruimelo73 No it wasn't. It is clear from everywhere you look in the history that the British were far more successful in their colonisation of the world than any other nation. Their greatest colony, the US, continues to dominate the world. It's far more than Portugal can say for Brazil. Not that colonialism is something to be particularly proud of.

  • @dryan5 Ok, now take a look of the resources England, France and Spain had and make a fair judgement of what the portuguese have achieve. England may be the most sucessful colonial power but not the most glorious one.

You are forgetting that USA reached the superpower status just a century ago. Brazil is independent since 1882, one century later than USA... Do I need to say more? It's amazing what is happening in Brazil, just check the news.

  • I > you

  • @xuantzi So? You attack Portuguese colonialism by bringing in England and Hong Kong? How fucking hypocritical is that? And you live in a country, Brasil, that was built by us so fuck off.

And by the way, you won't gain anything by pitching England against Portugal. We have been allies for over 700 years, we have the oldest alliance in the world. You will only bring us together by pitching us against each other, Portugal has stood up for wankers like you for all it's history.

  • 4 the power of history adaptation & evolution PORTUGAL,big tanks

  • Eu sou de macau e acho isto triste...

  • Macao, the first and last European colony in China.

    God bless.

  • Good riddance, Asia for Asians. Europe is for Europeans.

  • Both Hong Kong and macau prospered under european rule, and you know that you communist pig!!

  • the will continue to prosper with you people gone. Don't think the world can't live without you.

  • And where are you from??China will take economic poer away from Hong Kong and china SLOWLY, Macau will not be spared either!!

  • The former colony of Canada. From the looks of it, western economy is in decline, while eastern economy is on the rise. I'm actually thinking about going to China after my studies.

  • It is a former PORTUGESE colony!!

What are you going to do in China??

  • Yes, we speak Portuguese in Canada.

  • @HKUK94 Yes they did! I think if they were to be returned I wound have returned them to the Republic of China. atleast they are smart enough to take care of these territories!

  • @HKUK94 That's right, the days of you Europeans is gone. Think about how you Europeans treates us in the past, you will learn that the West should shut the FUCK up about our internal issues. Even the execution of all of you won't compensate the crime done by you guys. So just pray and wish the god would forgive you.

  • @ZTZ999 What internal issues. The PRC has been bitching about Hong Kong and Macao since the 1950s. The PRC had always, bitched about Hong kong and Macao, calling them" enemy territories" and what not. That's why the PRC still needs a border within their country, becuase they can't give their own subjects freedom to go to another part of their own country. So inconclusion, the Europeans have done China a big favor by not "shipping the gold away" before the handover

  • @HKUK94 Well if they really considered HK as "enemy territory" they would capitured it long time ago. In conclusion, Europeans already shipped much more golds from China in 19th century, and saddly enough you don't know that. Now we are rising , again, and will NOT take SHIT from you savage albinos! If you albinos really cared about our human right, then pay back all golds and treasures you stolen from us, and apologize! If you can't then shut the H*** up!

  • @ZTZ999 Sorry, but the PRC did have have the balls to invade hong kong even when they have overwhelming superiority. If you want to pull history, what about the country that the PRC invaded called Tibet. And of course you can't forget tiananmen square 1989 when the PEOPLE'S Liberation Army killed it's own PEOPLE. Ironic isn't it. A better question would be: When will the PRC apologize for killing thousands of its own people?

  • @HKUK94 Ironic enough the event in 1989 didn't even killed as many as US Army killed in Alabama. Well US propaganda machines just made it up. My father was one of students there, so I think I have more 1st hand evidences than you. Just look at how they used Nepal's pictures to blame China, you'll see their true face. PRC save us from the financial robbery of Wall Street, that's enough for us. Japan wasn't that lucky. Hence it was fucked by you soul-less savages in 1989.

  • Respond to this video...

  • @HKUK94 Beside, you Anglo-Sucksons only knows the financial interests, look at how Rottschield family controlling UK and USA. Your democratic government can't even print its own money! Nathan Rottschield said:"If i can control a country's publication of currency, then I don't care who makes the law". That's how you guys run your society. HOWEVER, we ,as Chinese, run our sociely in a different way. Again you don't know s*** about us.

  • @HKUK94 Tibet is a part of China since Yuan Dynasty. Have you wondered how the Dalai Lama was choosen? First they choose some kids who fits requirements, then they put their name tags into a golden bottle. The Emperor of China, would randomly pick one of them, and that choosen one IS the new Dalai Lama. The 14th Dalai Lama, the current one, was choosen by local official of the government of the Republic of China back in 30's. Plz learn before make ignorant comments.

  • @ZTZ999 "Tibet was part of China since Yuan Dynasty". Well guess what, California and Arizona was part of Mexico during the 1700s as well!! Please further your education before you try to make a discussion with me.

  • @HKUK94 "California and Arizona was part of Mexico during the 1700s " it seems like u just reveal ur true self mate. U said that China can't do this to Tibet can't do that to Tibet. For fuck sake! If both California and Arisona weren't yours and u took over them y can't China do so? Plus, Tibet was part of China since Yuan dynasty as ZTZ999 said so there is nothing wrong if China want to unite Tibet once and for all.

  • @The00ching00 lol Looks like I just made you reveal your true face as well. Now you're saying that China has the right to invade any country that used to be part of China??

  • @HKUK94 It seems like u don't know anything at all. Chairman Mao once answered the British general that fate of China lies with in this 9.6 million km2. So what is that mean? It means that they are sastify with their land! Have u ever seen a Chinese colony out side that 9.6 m. land? Plus, that 9.6 million km2 of course include Tibet, Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Anyway do u know how long that Tibet stayed independent until Mao united Tibet again?

  • @HKUK94 Why not ?

  • @HKUK94 Give me a break! The Yuan was even before you albinos were fucked by Mogolis. Guess what? The Welsh was an independent kingdom before. The Germany was a bunch of smaller kingdoms before. Why don't let those guys go "free"? I have seen a lot of stupid Canadians don't even know where the hell is Tibet while crying "Freee Teeee-beeeet!" Again you albinos are just racist savages who think the civilized people are inferior.

  • @HKUK94

Mexico is too weak to get back California and Arizona. Too bad.

  • @ZTZ999 Yes, China has made great strides towards making itself a better economic power, but you still have problems. You're internet is still censored (yes I have gotten on Chinese youtube servers) when your people complain, you call in the police after them and either hurry them away or jail them, and you still "re-educate" them. Has your government even tried talking to protestors? Judging by what i've seen, it doesn't seem like they do.

  • @lilblake90 And I still remember how the militias of Standard Oil shot the protesters and US government done nothing for it. A lot of British farmers lost their lands to the rich people when Britain was developing. In the developing era, every nation has the strong sensorship and authortarian policies. If you don't experience that period than there will be no true freedom and democracy for you. And yes China is in that kind of historical period.

  • @HKUK94 ain't hongkong was a colony too by britain?

  • @logerbad19 learn how to speak english. You misunderstood.

  • @2eltran sorry my english very bad

  • lol, and you are british?

  • 19 Dec 1999 - 19 Dec 2009 10 Years on..

  • Portugul should have ruled Macau better like the British did with Hong kong. I still think Portufuuese rul would have been beter than Chinese rule

  • Whatever you saya, Macau is always a part of China.

  • @komhab

Macau was, is, and will always be PORTUGAL!!!

    LONG LIVE PORTUGUESE MACAU!!

  • Macao is part of Portugal as Hong Kong is part of Britian!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Britainmal

Portugal should of ruled Macau better like the British did with Hong Kong? What the hell are you talking about? You need a history lesson fella - the Portuguese didn't take the port of Macau from the Chinese by way of force contrary the British who forced their way into Hong Kong and the fact of the matter is their seafaring explorations is a disgrace.

  • Cont...

The Portuguese spearheaded global exploration, pioneered it whereas the British were the Johnny-come-latelies. The Brits were nothing but Pirates who robbed and stole from other nations.

  • The Portuguese was a great nation back then, very powerfull militarily and economically. They lost all there colonies to uprising except Macau althought this happened to the British too, but not as bad as it happened to the Portuguese. The British empire was bigger than the Portuguese. They lost Goa by invasion and were so afraid that they jumped to give back Macau in fear in 1972 and they withdrew their military at the same time, but China said no you will give it back in 1999 not 1972.

  • It was 1974 - not 1972.

  • Yes, and look at Portugal now - poorest and most backward country in Western Europe. Few people take Portugal seriously in Europe, and in Asia nobody does. Brazil is the country of the future and always will be, Portugal is the country of the past and always has been. Now the Portuguese have to write their like the Brazilians - no chance that the British will use US spelling.

  • @kmfw72

You sound bitter with your comments about Portugal...what happened? Hahahahaha. But anyway...VIVA PORTUGAL and Portuguese language! And as fellow YT user " PortugalIV" puts it: "Portugal is one, Portugal is Great, Portugal is Glorious, Portugal is Free!"

  • kmfw72 your ignorance astounds me. You clearly don't have a clue what you are talking about do you? How about visiting places outside of the UK for once instead of making uninformed opinions and regurgitating rubbish.

  • @kmfw72

Your mistake is comparing the portuguese/brazilian diferences with USA/UK. They are the ones who must compare with us. Anyway, the portuguese language has envolved since its creation. I also don't like the recent treaty but the 2 countries are making an effort to modernizing the language unlike the arrogant brits and the americans popcorns.

  • doesn't matter who rules better, if you can't even rule it,, what's the point.... this is the ugly truth

  • Los Portuges son corrupto

  • No! No son, yo soy portugues y espanol tambien

  • Corrupto es tu seu filho da puta!

  • Portugal shouldn't have left Macao. They brought western civilization to the East! Long live Portugal!

  • It sad to see the flag of my country to go down!

    Herois do Mar!

  • portugal should continue making macau as a colony so a european territory in the far east is good

  • o hino portugal é o hino mais bonito do mundo

  • Also, Portugal was barley ruling Macau after 1975, it was pretty much self governed, there was revolution in Portugal, which made Portugal give up Angola and Mozambique, but the Chinese would not let them do the same with Macau, until later.

  • I live in Hong Kong which is next to Macau. Talking about the Portuguese language is actually irrelevant, because hardly anyone speaks it there. Regardless, Macau has done very well since the handover, and is no longer regarded as a "backwater", also organized crime in Macau has almost completely disappeared.

  • it was never regarded as a backwater!

  • I wasn't talking about Brazil's commercial partners, I was talking about China's. I think it's silly to suggest that the Portuguese language is a way into trading with the EU - French and Italian are more useful. As regards Portuguese cultural heritage, I know all about this, I have been in East Timor and Indonesia. However, the problem with Portugal is that it is too backward-looking, always going on about the 15th-16th century. Graça a Deus, o Brasil não é como isso!

  • The end of the Portuguese Empire...first Brazil in 1822, portuguese India in 1961, later portuguese africa and Timor in 1974, and last, the daughter of Portugal - Macau

  • Comment removed

  • oww no cool chinece flag ceremony i always love the way that they throw the flag

  • Respect goes to the Portuguese as well。 they offered to give back Macau 1974

and they demonstrated some decency still exists in some part of Europe。

  • LoL ...Macau was a burden to Portugal, having to guard and administer it makes Portugal poorer. China said we don't want Macau back till 2000, another 26 years of Portuguese tax payer's money gone to administer Macau !

Revenge of China without firing a shot !

  • Not entirely true. Portuguese troops left Macau in 1975, and most of Macau's income came from trade with the mainland - or gambling, not from Lisbon. Anyway, China wanted to settle the issue of Hong Kong first.

  • China had reclaimed a piece of Chinese land after 400 years of foreign rule. Any country would want to reclaim their lost territories.

  • Yes, you are right. In Portugal we have the Olivença territory occupied by Spain. Spain has not right under Olivença. I hope there will be justice as in Macao.

  • the end of over 400 years of Portugese rule. a very sad day indeed. soon communism will destroy both Hong Kong and Macau.

by the way, notice how unevenly the Chinese and Macau flag is raised.

  • that's because the chinese flag appears first. did you go to school?

  • Macau was a concession by the Chinese for the Portuguese maintained Chinese waters free from the pirates. But some Chinese dont want to admit that. Maybe in future they want again our help, and in that time we want Macau for ever! And for those who dont believe. Dont say ever!

  • you are truly retarded, are stupid enough to believe your textbooks saying a country would give away free fucking land for getting rid of pirates?

  • What interest do the Portuguese have in Macau? They never had much interest in the place when they ran it - if the Movimento de Forças Armadas had had its way, Macau would have been handed back to China in 1975!

Most Macanese didn't speak Portuguese then and they certainly don't speak it now. If the Portuguese interest in Macau were that great, TAP would still have direct flights from Lisbon, discontinued after two years due to lack of demand.

  • hey chicoms why don't you distribute some of that wealth to the billions you impverish and call it "communism", all I see is the sight of hypocracy. Can you say "French Revolution II") Your billions of poor will drench China in blood for their share.

  • 滾吧 西洋蠻夷

  • yeah, i know. I was just commenting on china's success so far

  • AWESOME!, China finally rids itself of foreign powers. Ths last goal is Taiwan.

  • Great to see you love your country and you are ready to defend it no matter what. Still you should search in youtube for "Olympic Torch Relay Protest in Argentina" try India also.

I didn't see nobody attacking Asians only the Chinese government behaviour so if anyone here is concerned about race its you. Finally by whites i guess you refer to indigenous European people I guess you will understand my point here as East Asians should also not be referred to as yellows by others.

  • New powers emerge for the 21st Century

  • Not new power, it is an Ancient and surviving power

  • Absolutely wonderful! Thanks :D
