The Ned's have a new live CD & DVD out from Wolverhampton Wulfrun Hall gig 2009. Featuring the original line up, its called 21 Years 21 Songs. See a preview on my You Tube page & you can buy it from a link on my page.
RIP Gilksy and Rob. Still top blokes now, Miles n Malc. Going to see the HUP 20th Anniversary gig in Brum this December. They did this album last year and they were shit hot
fantastic band, got to see them many times in my younger days when i had hair haha! Im sure one of the last times vic and bob came on and did dizzy with them? Brixton academy or the town and country club? happy days! ;o)
really happy days. i was lucky enough to have a chat with miles a few months back when he played a show near me and it was a real pleasure. its no coincidence my 14 yr old son is called miles. :)
dude tbh if u ddnt like it why post it why not just close the window yea u see the little "x" in the cornor hit that or change to a different window or somink just dont post "Lame" and exspect none to start on you about it attention seeker muchly
I love the fact they put a picture of Terry Wogon, years before he charged a million quid fee for doing Children In Need. Greedy bastard. I wonder why the papers make a fuss out of Russ and John and not Terry. Greed and taking money from a good cause is alot worse than some stupid prank. But then again, middle england (and the newspapers) love Terry and not John and certainlly not Russ because he gets more pussy in a week than any of those muppets in middle england get in a lifetime. Its envy.
Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of The Eight Legged Groove Machine, join the group as they play the album in it's entirety for an anniversary party at the Birmingham Carling Academy (30th October) and London Shepherds Bush Empire (31st October).
Got my VIP ticket................. Re-live my youth with the best band of the late 80's /early 90's. This album was the sound track to my life for ages!! Happy daze!!
Thanks for posting Indio156... I've removed the dodgy comments in reply to yours, which I felt were uncalled for and rude. Sorry it took me so long to do so.
Your input is both welcomed and appreciated. Thanks.
still sounds great, one of my fav bands ofalltime.if you like this, you can see my videos from late 80's to early 90's.I,ve got the bassthings last appearance on video + 20tapes of music from around this time.i'll get around putting them on dvd soon, when i get some spare time that is!
good question, and i'm afraid i don't know. i'm not the hardcorest of fans (only have "if the beatles had read hunter" best of), but i knew the songs and the frontman were the same. beyond that... not sure.
From the old band? From the original 4 Just Miles Hunt and Malcolm Treece (guitar). Rob Jones (bass) and Martin Gilks (drums) are unfortunately no longer (1993 and 2006 respectively, :( RIP , no longer with us.) Um, not a hardcore fan, just a listener...
Hi sadly i knowabout Bass Thing & Gilksy (he lived not far from me, by all accounts alovely bloke, still feel sad seeing their videos with him on). Just wandered if Paul Clifford & the Fiddler had joined again.
What a memorable song from my youth, great to see The Bass Thing rip, these guys from kings heath rocked & Miles went to whitesmoor school in chelmsley wood !
Again, my eternal thanks to the Suffies for being so kind to our old group Gigolo Aunts. They showed us what it was to be a truly kick-ass live band every night of the week.
Yeah it was the Gigalo Aunts on that tour. I saw them at the Newcastle city hall. In 93 I think. I remember a screen at the end of the concert which said 'thank you for coming'. This was swiftly followed by 'Now fuck off'.
AABINVESTIGATIONS contacted me, and sent me an email which I missed out on b/c I was out of the country. WRITE ME AGAIN! He said he used to work on the crew with my husband, The Bass Thing. Today is his death day. Happy Death Day, Rob. You are loved, and always remembered...

The Bass thing. He died about ten years ago I think.

I was aware of that. The drummer died recently I believe. Very sad.

I know what you mean. The stuffies were the soundtrack to my teenage years, along with PWEI and Ned's Atomic Dustbin.

8 Legged Groove Machine is one of my favorite albums. I never really could get into much material from the band after that.
adamfirestorm 3 years ago
Hup is a great album just as good as the eight legged groove machine.
ANDYCF73 3 years ago
I think the stuffies career was one of diminishing returns. The first album was the best, Hup was not quite as good and so on.
thescallywags 3 years ago
I agree, Pat Collier did a grand job and their songs were more immediate.
