Sorry some songs should not be covered by a female vocal.....it will never work, never!!! It would be like a male sing RESPECT by A,F.......won't work,,,,,never!!!
hahaha..fagen figured he couldn't sing this song back in 1974 and i guess he still feels that way now..tried to pawn off the job on the female singers..they can sing but it doesnt work the same as when palmer sung it..
Nice gift for my eyes and my ears. Thanks for sharing. Beautiful arrangements. Didn't you have any problem standing with a tripod in the middle of the concert?
Carolyn Leonhart just keeps getting better and better looking. Her brother Michael has played trumpet with Steely Dan since the Two Against Nature album. I can't tell if that's him on this video. Great song! Thanks for posting.
What a great venue to see them!( my personal favourite) Lucky you! I grew up in upstate new york and finger lakes region is so beautiful. I saw Steely Dan this past summer here in Toronto in an outdoor venue. Smoked some amazing grass and closed my eyes and let the music take me back... Nothing like this..thx for posting..
1st time I hear the ladies really nailing it. It's been good, but this time none of them overdid it. This is such a subtle song it needs that from the vocals as well. Thanks for posting!
@angefox1 David Palmer did the original vocal which was excellent, I agree. I think having a woman singing these lyrics is a nice change up for the song, given it's story. And these women sounded just beautiful.
@Tmoore926 I remember reading that D Fagen regretting severely the decision in letting him sing the lead. Thought that his voice wasn't right for this tune...Go figure huh?
@angefox1 David Palmer. I'm afraid I must absolutely, utterly, deeply & wholly question your taste. This arrangement where DF takes a vocal break and gives Flex (& co.) the chance to shine gets better and better.
What's the difference what Donald Fagen looks like mckenziejul? That's the big problem with music today, it's all about image. Great musicians like Fagan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell would never get a chance in 2011 because they don't look like Katy Perry.
I usually never like it when older stars who I paid to see take a long break and let the younger session players grab the spotlight for extended periods, but god it's works so perfect here---and I LOVE this arrangement (the changes before the first verse are awesome). This would really work as an instrumental with a jazz trio, for example. And they look WAY better than Donald Fagen!
I saw Steeley Dan perform live @ GMAC in Canadaigua, NY in 2008. It was a awesome performance, just like this one. I have been a Steeley Dan fan for over 30 yrs and they are "steel" kicking strong.
This was the best performance if the night in Atlanta, too. Although, I think they ended up giving the whole solo to the girl all the way on the right. Great rendition.

Carolyn and Vickie Cave worked best with SD live - Carolyn is good, but not as soulful as Vickie.

who was the original singer? He had such a gorgeous voice. Nothing else comes up to the quality. I find this one disappointing.

Correction! Robert Palmer (Addicted to Love, Sneaking Sally in the Alley) did the original vocals.

@Tmoore926 I'm definitely a fan of the late, great Robert Palmer. But I'm pretty certain it is the lesser-known David Palmer who sang on this track.
